Did these new Christians wait around to bear fruit? Huh? :)

Acts 2: 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ [n]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided[p] them among all, as anyone had need.

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added [q]to the church daily those who were being saved.

How long did Lydia wait around to bear fruits of love? Acts 16:14-40

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

You still think fruit doesn't have any impact on our work or our walk?

now ive done it. i got myself into this now lolz

faith is a fruit yes. but i believe in order to bear fruit of the spirit you have to first get the Spirit. how do you get it? by believing the gospel.

so i believe you cant have any fruits of the spirit (including faith, love etc) before you believe in Jesus.

i know the calvinists believe you are regenerated before you believe, is that what you think also? i dont find that in the bible, but if you believe that then there is nothing to talk about we just disagree on that

Do not flatter yourself....you are not as bright as you think you are....

Faith is initially dealt in measure and then GROWN and MATURED......FAITH is what produces works Hebrews 11, JAMES and others.....

LOVE is also a process of GROWTH and MATURITY....NO ONE loves unless born from above and LOVE is not always the force behind WORKS

You have a lot to learn pal

Ask Dc. Faith is a gift of God. Right DC?

We agreed on this earlier, me and DC.

See how we have gone full circle. I've got you guys going in the exact directions I want you two to go.

DC is back to conflating bearing fruit and perfection of fruit.
The original statement he made was that it takes a period of growth and maturity to bear anything, NOT TO BEAR FRUIT TO MATURITY.
He changed his argument for about the umpteenth time.

First it was, it takes a period of maturity and growth to bear any fruit

Then it was "it MAY take a period...etc.

Then it was it takes a period of growth and maturity to bear fruit to perfection.

THREE ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ARGUMENTS.

You know someone is confused when they keep changing their argument. :)

The evolution of DC's argument.

Post 84,217- <----a period of growth and maturity is required before one bears anything

Required means necessary or compulsory

post 97,492- DO you see the word ALL in the above quote.....

Actually, yes I do...when you use the word REQUIRED.

Post 98,466- -FRUIT does NOT bear instantly...juts like LOVE it must be matured and BROUGHT to completion.

The fruit is not brought unto completion UNTIL THE HARVEST or until you die. :)

Philippians 3:12

We will be growing, maturing, and our fruit will be growing and maturing until the day we die or until Jesus comes back. At least that is the biblical model ;)

Fruits produce works

Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 1 Thessalonians 1:3

Hebrews 6:10- For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
PS doesn't believe that love and faith are fruit or does he not agree that love and faith produces works

No, I believe like DC, that faith is a gift from God. Do you?

I attribute EVERY good thing to God. Nothing to myself.

Plus, there is a fruit of faith after salvation.

1 John 5:1- Born of God is in perfect tense and believe is in present tense.

There is a fruit of faith after salvation. Galatians 5:22. ALSO...

1 John 5:1

Born of God is in perfect tense and believe is in present tense.

Everyone who is believing (present tense) "has been" (perfect tense, past action with continuing results) born of God.

When I talk about fruit of faith, I mean THAT faith. Like the kind mentioned in 1 John 5:1

That is the kind of faith that produces works. Just like DC said. He said "faith produces works". Not to be justified, but BECAUSE we are justified. Bible 101

Justifying faith needs no work, but AFTER THE PERFECT WORK OF justification is accomplished, the fruit of faith produces works of faith and labours of love.

It's in the Bible, ya know.

Do not attribute the fruit of the Spirit to the work of man.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (Gal 5:22 KJV)

In 1 Thessalonians 1:3 their work was evidence of their faith. Neither is fruit mentioned. All they had was hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We give thanks to God for you always, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father, (1Th 1:2-3 MKJV)

Hope wasn't all they had. They also had faith and love, which produced works of faith and labour of love.

The fruit of the Spirit is manifested by what we do. Being filled and led by the Spirit means HE is working in us and through us. Without Christ, we can do NOTHING.

I attribute nothing good to man. I attribute EVERY good thing to God. In our flesh, THERE DWELLS NO GOOD THING. All of our good is either imputed, imparted or both FROM HIM. ALL OF IT.

Just continue to be taught by the Word, and be open to changing your views according to what you read.
