“11 I indeed baptize you with water unto Repentance (Water Baptism was an outward act of an inward work already carried out): but He (Christ) Who comes after me is mightier than I, Whose Shoes I am not worthy to bear: He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire (to burn out the sinful dross [Acts 2:2-4]):

12 Whose fan is in His Hand (the ancient method for winnowing grain), and He will thoroughly purge His Floor (“purging it, that it may bring forth more fruit” [Jn. 15:2]), and gather His Wheat into the garner (the end product as developed by the Spirit); but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire (the wheat is symbolic of the Work of the Spirit, while the chaff is symbolic of the work of the flesh).” Matthew 3:11-12
Acts 2 is not a baptism but a filling with the Holy Spirit. It is improper and incorrect to conflate baptism of the Holy Spirit with the filling of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2. Many fillings but only one baptism unto eternal life.

Now that you are saved, you should ask the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).

While it is certainly true the Holy Spirit came into your heart and life the moment of your Salvation, still, He now wishes to endure you with power from on high. Consequently, Jesus told all of His followers immediately before His Ascension, that they should "wait for the Promise of the Father" (Acts 1:4). He was speaking of being "Baptized with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 1:5).

You must understand that there is a great difference in being "born of the Spirit" than being " Baptized with the Spirit." They are two different works altogether.

To be "born of the Spirit" is that which took place at your conversion, as the Holy Spirit brought you to Christ and performed the work of regeneration within your heart and life. To be "Baptized with the Spirit" is in order that you may have Power with God (Acts 1:8). Every Believer should ask the Lord to fill them with the Holy Spirit, and expect to receive (Luke 11:13).

It is absurd for you to assume that I have not been baptized in the Holy Spirit. It clearly demonstrates a complete lack of biblical knowledge and real experience on the subject.

Does not the Word baptism itself mean whelmed EG?

Does your church teach what you are saying? Or is this your own reasoning?

Water is the washing EG. Then continually by the scripture...washing of the water of the Word. The sprinkling of blood on our conscience deals with sin. The Word deals with our character.

To be whelmed by Spirit is to stop the work of man, and move in the work of God.

For prophecy is Gods message speaking through your voice. So is tongues, speaking mysteries, praying, moving in the Holy Spirit. Healing through laying on of hands- Gods power through the gift of faith. So many ways He moves but it's Him. And we know it's not of us.

It's an exciting life to be used of God, and I've only had tastes. Makes you thirst for more of His life!
The cessationist is a product of his teachers.
They can not make a case that what we recieved is not scriptural,so where do they place their rejection of the baptism in the Holy Spirit as is recorded by the laying on of hands?
They simply made up a notion that it ceased.
Their leaders made it up. Cessation is not in the bible, and the cessationist is not hungry for more of God. No desire to raise the dead, cast satin off people bound by the devil,or lay hands on the sick. They, like their leaders, have poo pooed the power of God. They have Just laid down.

They actually like it.

Without hunger,no seeking more.
That is why they stay put,or should we say thumb their nose at pentecost.
They see Jesus words as just words,no purpose to them.
(...but tarry in Jerusalem until ye have received power.)...just words on in a book, has no value to them.

If i jad not been exposed to the river of God during the charismatic movement,i may have ended up like them.

But probably not, because my conversion was like Paul's,He came to me in power. Then about 3 months later I received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands.

Just like in the bible.
It occurs to me that Holy Ghost baptised people need to be the ones to impart the Holy Ghost to others.
Interestingly,ww see it in mat 25,in that the protocol was invoked "give us some of yours".....and they COULD HAVE, but didn't.

So where does mat 25 leave them? More desert.
They HAVE TO change the parable around to say something else.

Ironically, the Baptism in the Holy Ghost is a ingredient in the rapture.

Anyone care to step out of that cessationists hand book???

The bible CLEARLY supports the infilling by the laying on of hands.
Stop acting like it doesn't.
Since when is anyone saved by the laying on of hands?

bap-tid'-zo

From a derivative of G911; to make whelmed (that is, fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: - baptist, baptize, wash.

Total KJV occurrences: 80

G911

βάπτω

baptō

bap'-to

A primary verb; to whelm, that is, cover wholly with a fluid; in the New Testament only in a qualified or specific sense, that is, (literally) to moisten (a part of one’s person), or (by implication) to stain (as with dye): - dip.

Total KJV occurrences: 3

Am glad I looked at this one because the church I grew up in taught blood baptism. I can see why now.

Fully immersed does not conflict EG.

Why do you think that in Isaiah, he says that this sign of speech is the sabbath rest?

And what church do you think I attend that I learned my doctrine?

Its like this.
I can test fit their doctrine. I can try it on and see if it is biblical. First i have to assume what i got came from the devil.

Oh well,so much for trying on their unscriptural mess.
It would be like the mockers on the day of pentecost.
I would actually need to mock God himself.

It just hit me....the power behind their tireless mocking of precious believers and the priceless gift from heaven.
They are satanically driven.
You are engaging a spirit my friend.

One could say preaching about certain gifts are the product of their own teachers. (They can not even all come together in what they believe)

Baptism of the holy spirit is what it is.

It is GOD baptizing us into christ, his death, his burial and his body. It is where we are spiritually circumcised by the baptism of God who rose him from the dead.

So your mocking others is ok?

I will not say this about all of you, Because you all are not like this, But many of you people are some of the worst hypocrites I have met.

Judging is forbidden. It comes back on us when we do. Unless we are meek.

You misunderstand what I said. May be I didn't explain it well.

In asking why does not all believe the same. Clearly Pentecost was mean't to go on to all believers. If not then there would be no laying on of hands and others receiving. Only the apostles would have the gifts and then die out with their death.

So the answer absolutely sees is a spirit. Something binding another from seeing.

Judging or discerning EG? This may hurt you, but it's like pulling a bandaid off. I don't mean to hurt you.

I could say the same thing back to you Eg and to UG and all that lurk in the not by works thread. You all follow Decon.

Macabeus is right about the mob rule there. You all descend on one who disagrees, not only there but in other threads.

Of course if I believe the same, I will agree.

This is not a question about why does not all believe the same

Its a question of what he said, by MOCKING and JUDGING those who do not agree with him

If I did the same thing to you or one of your buddies you would be all over me sis//

This has nothing to do with a mob rule sis, I have scolded DC, and I do not agree with everything he says. So your wrong there

Again, If you think the post arguless made was not judgments, there is something seriously wrong.

It is about believing the same EG. I agree with absolutely. We have had the same experience (actually pretty close to exactly since it was about 3 months later after conversion) that I received the baptism of Holy Spirit too. Is what he said about his experience.

I don't see where what you say about the baptism of Holy Spirit in the scriptures. And it's those who haven't experienced this who have different views. You would have to show me where, what you are saying. So far you haven't.

Arguless? He is not in this discussion. I can't say I've ever agreed with him on anything. Mostly I skip over his posts.
