I can’t critisise a country for wanting to rebuild a famous building if they want.
But am I the only one who thinks - wow it took just two days for pledges and donations
from the people of France to raise €700m euros for a Roman Catholic Church.
I wonder how long it takes to raise that sort of money for things which really
matter.
Maybe people think I’m being harsh but I don’t think God is impressed by
fancy buildings.
I remember a few years ago I was helping out on a children’s camp.
We went on a day trip to York one day and visited York Minister another
Roman Catholic famous old massive cathedral.
That morning we had been doing bible club and it happened to include the
story of how Jesus said the Pharisees were like white washed tombs full of
dead men’s bones.
At the Minister, we were looking around and there was one loveable slightly
cheeky boy about 8 with us. He was being very well behaved and looking
around, he was wearing a cap. Suddenly one of the Priests in the Cathadral
walked over to him, swatted of his cap and told him to show more respect in
God’s house!
The kid pointed at the Priest, told him he was a Phareesee and full of dead men’s
bones!
You know what, he was right!
