Blaspheming Holy Spirit also is to minimize His power. To cause men to look elsewhere other than to God for their help. Results in unbelief.
Blaspheming the spirit is to reject Christ. Nothing more nothing less. (Thats why the UNBELIEVERS will be condemned, because they died in the state of denial.

The people were rejecting Christ by claiming he did the power by Demons, Not by the HS. It has nothign to do with gifting or anything else. It is rejecting Christ.

Again, What if paul was there as saul. Did he not later get saved and write half the new testament.

To say the blasphemy of the spirit is anything else is to look outside scripture..

I understand trying to come up wiht ideas and things to support their belief, but there comes a time that when the idea they have is shown to NOT support what they think. (Like this one) it is time to find another example.

In the example you gave of Joe and the statement he said, I replied that I believe he did not commit a unforgivable sin. Jesus can still forgive him.

To me the unforgivable sin is to have a heart so hardened that one will never ever turn to Christ. The Pharisees hearts were hard when they accused Jesus of casting out devils by the Prince of devils. But whether at this point in time their heart was too hard for even the possibility of turning to Jesus in faith that I don't know for sure. The way I see it is that Jesus might have been warning them of the unforgivable sin. But I really am not sure just a possibility that comes to mind.

I can understand what you are saying

so would you ever consider that even those who profess Christ can have a heart so hardened they cannot see past their own self-righteousness? as was the case with the religious leaders of Jesus day. they sought constantly to trip Him and deliberately misinterpreted what He said

some would perhaps state that those who have such a heart were never saved or a believer in the first place...but I think we should consider the history of the Israelites and the undeniable fact that God will actually harden the heart of some

In our Gospels the unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit was committed by attributing Jesus' exorcisms to demonic power. But hw might that sin be committed today? In the NT church the sin was committed by refusing to acknowledge divinely sanctioned prophetic gifts (See Didache 11). Indeed, that was the unanimous interpretion of the sin in the first 2 centuries. So today so-called Christians who attribute the ecstatic spiritual gifts to Satan are in real danger of committing this sin!
Where do these ideas come from??

The bible says THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE (in Christ) ARE CONDEMNED

God is not going to hold a person who is weak in faith and thinks some gift or another is not real.. Does your kids believe EVERYTHING you say, think or do?? Do you kick them out of your family when they do not agree with you?

1 Cor 13:
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Let's assume the gifts are still applicable today. As per the above passage, when do you think these gifts will cease so that only hope, faith and love remain?

Greater works involve raising the dead. Can people raise the dead today?
can you prove they don't?

rhetorical question

greater works is salvation. have you ever led someone to the Lord?

the ministry Jesus spoke of was 'going into all the world'

some folks just minister with their tongue and use it like a fork...seems there is scripture about that also

wouldn't imagine anyone here does that though

It is not by sight that we should walk but by understanding. There are enough warnings about satan and how he works in this last days. The delusion is so strong that if it were possible, even the elect will fall for.
In this last days, there's no genuine gift here and fake gift there, all gifts ceased according to God's plan, whatever is happening today is all fake. I'm not saying there's no healing but there are no special people appointed with gift of healing to heal others- that ended during the Apostles life time.
wrong again

the Bible says we walk by FAITH

please read Hebrews for a better understanding

perhaps your understanding is what is fake? it certainly is not biblical

if everyone here starts walking by what they 'understand', it ain't gonna be pretty

we walk by FAITH in Christ and in what HE has done. not be our understanding, but by faith because who here can claim they understand it all?

Jesus said whoever believes in Him shall do greater works than He did. I guess you are saving more people than God could ever do.

What a lie. Quit it, greater works does not mean salvation.

Please extrapolate.
warning about false teachers

[ Greetings ] From: Jude, a servant of Jesus the Messiah, and yet a brother of James. To: Those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept safe by Jesus, the Messiah. May mercy, peace, and love be yours in abundance! [ Warning about False Teachers ] Dear friends, although I was eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I found it necessary to write to you and urge you to continue your vigorous defense of the faith that was passed down to the saints once and for all. ..

right. I have never saved anyone but I have shared the gospel with some who have accepted Christ and turned from their old life

since salvation is greater than simply healing a person will eventually die, eternal life is greater

there is no lie and you need to curb your tongue. it's getting you in all kinds of trouble

Jesus said that anyone who calls their brother (or sister) is in danger of hell fire and here you are calling us liars

we are also to judge ourselves before we judge others

try it some time

No, I think you associate the baptism with tongues. That's usually the first result.

Must go...
??

No, I asociate all gifts of the spirit with the annointing of the spirit. The spirit comes in (anoint) you, then distributes whatever gifts he desires you to have

But that was not my question

The op is about blasphemy of the spirit and what it is. Yet everyone is talkin gabout tongues and healing and stuff..

I just think it is funny!!

Not what everyone understands but knowledge that comes form God.

2 Pet 1:His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. ...
5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; 6and toknowledge, self-control; and to self-control,perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;

So, are you saving more people than God?

I've reported this. people need to stay on topic and quit their nastiness and calling others liars and trying to put the thread on another course.

try to remember you say you are a Christian

I don't know if a mod will respond or not, but at least they now know that some just cannot actually respond to a post but have to create discord where none is intended and none is warranted

don't expect me to bother to respond to anymore of this type of goading and just plain trying to bully another from ANYONE

Your claim your responsibility, i don't think i've done anything wrong but i hope i have opened your eyes somehow.

Again,
Jesus said whoever believes in Him shall do greater works than He did.

Your claim; Greater works is salvation

So, essentially, you are claiming to save more people than Jesus who is God. And it is just a question which can easily be answered by a yes/no/na

I just posted this in another thread and I think people need to remember Who has saved us in the first place and really, none of us are anything but lost without Him.

Through the blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil. Through the blood of Jesus, all my sins are forgiven. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses me continually from all sin. Through the blood of Jesus, I am justified, made righteous, just-as-if-I’d never sinned. Through the blood of Jesus, I am sanctified, made holy, set apart to God. My body is a temple for the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed, sanctified by the blood of Jesus. Therefore, Satan has no place in me, no power over me, through the blood of Jesus. I renounce him, loose myself from him and command him to leave me in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Yes, that also can be the case. Self righteous Christians are not unsaved though, just prideful. God can help with that. Pride is common among Christians as well as people who are not Christians. Pride does not have to be learned but humility often is learned.

No need to get emotional and no need to fear at all. Take a deep breathe and relax, you are not a sinner.

The "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" is mentioned in Mark 3:22-30 and Matthew 12:22-32. This case of blasphemy is called "the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" in Matthew 12:31. In Matthew 12:31-32, the Pharisees (who were not Christians), having witnessed irrefutable proof that Jesus was working miracles in the power of the Holy Spirit, claimed instead that the Lord was possessed by the demon "Beelzebub" (Matthew 12:24). Notice in Mark 3:30 that Jesus is very specific about what they did to commit "blasphemy against the Holy Spirit." These Pharisees were obviously not believers to commit such a sin. That specific type of blasphemy against the Spirit cannot be duplicated today. No one can witness Jesus Christ on earth performing a miracle and then attribute that power to Satan instead of the Spirit God. The sin that is unpardonable is the state of continued unbelief.
Not only have I come to believe Dan's point to be true, but we can also chalk up another victory for the Dispys!

Because Jesus also says "neither in the age to come". Well what age is He talking about? The 1000 year reign before satan is to be released to deceive the world again!

So it won't be forgiven IN THIS AGE, the time Jesus walked the Earth, OR the 1000 yr reign, when Jesus will walk the Earth again.

Have at me!
