I said faith IN something never seen. Abraham took Gods word as fact before the fact became manifest in real time. It was counted as righteousness. Quite the opposite of science based religion. God said so. That was enough proof for Abraham. Remember I went to public school 10 out of 12 of my first school years and teaching creation was illegal.

We were taught if it can't be seen, measured and repeated it probably isn't real. Faith was mocked and considered delusional, wishful or magical thinking.

Schizotypal Personality Disorder.

2. Odd beliefs or magical thinking inconsistent with subcultural norms (e.g. superstitous, belief in clairvoyance, telepathy, or a sixth sense.)

7. Behavior or appearance that is odd, eccentric or peculiar.

Agnosticism is the rule and atheism is preferred by law over faith in schools now. Our children are at odds against the government for the simple right to pray. It's worse now than before. We believe in the comming of the Lord. Science is the false god of this age and we may have to fight to prevent the government from taking our children in the near future.

Some states even require gay is OK training in elementary schools. But bibles and prayer are outlawed. Have you heard of an after school bible study in an empty school room lately?

I realize this is way more than you asked about but it all ties in. Abraham believed in the comming of the Lord before Jesus was born as most Christians believe he will return. We are the minority.
Sorry my bad....all good bro

Listen Mr. FHS.....the moulding of us is NOT our salvation.
This is a very dangerous doctrine you have here, more akin to Free Masonry than Christianity.
Are you a freemason?
Hi UG, who am I talking to? Not someone who is echoes the verses below.

Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us
1 John 3:24

12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."
13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips."
Romans 3:12-13

8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:8-10

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
1 John 1:4

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.
25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Gal 5:24-25

15 For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."
20 But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?'"
21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?
Rom 9:20-21

12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Col 3:12-14

If this is dangerous to walk in the Spirit and to let God change us, what hope have you?

the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud:
for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

Jesus will not recognise evil doers, those who walk in sin and have no reaction to it.
Sin is not seen as something that destroys one, just something one has to deny and claim God ignores.

He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification
Rom 4:25

11 For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death.
12 So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous and good.
Rom 7:11-12

16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey--whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted.
18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Rom 6:16-18

Does a relationship that is dying not require remedy?
Is sin so unrepented of it is just part of everyday, so that God will ignore it?

1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
1 Tim 4:1-2

Sin is lethal and destroys us.

1 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.
2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
Gal 6:1-3

Is this your heart?

18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
Rom 6:18

It appears many claim the name Christian but know they are not slaves to righteousness.
At this point I am at a loss, because clearly they are not part of the faith Paul talks about.

And to talk about the hope of our calling, to not be part of the world but the Kingdom
of heaven, equally seems to fall on deaf ears.

If you are His sheep, then you need to listen to your heart and His call and His way.
It is not difficult if you humble yourself, walk in the Spirit and take the next step.

As long as greed, pride and ego plague humanity there will never be a free society in this world. We will never be equals.. Fact. Someone will always rule over others. We can't remove ourselves from the world like so called martyrs and crucify our selves like Moslems with a backpack bomb or pretend like we are holier than thou. All we can do is point the way to Jesus and shun the atheist establishment. Does anybody really think the life after this will be about economics?

There's only 2 sides to join. On Gods side there is love the other side has money, drugs, sex, power, influence... all bad.

"Choose ye today who ye shall serve. As for me and my house(hold) we choose the Lord!"

YourTruthGod, I have just two questions:

1. Is salvation free?

2. As sin is transgression of the Law, how much of the Law are we to obey to stay saved?
It would appear that YourTruthGod got himself banned. - "This user's profile is not available."

No! it wasn't free. The old law was fulfilled on the cross. We are no longer under bondage to it. Christ died once for all. We are now supposed to serve him.

How is taking them home a chastisement? Unless they went the other way?
Taking one away from friends and loved ones. Especially those unsaved we would no longer have a chance to reach. And losing the opportunity to build up any, or more, treasure in heaven. The loss of rewards. Also leaving behind a ruined testimony.

Hi Calibob,

What do you think Paul meant by the law of the Spirit?

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.
Gal 5:18

through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:2

To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.
1 Cor 9:21

Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Gal 6:2

Law by itself appears to be a summary reference for the full Mosaic law, but the law of the Spirit, or
the law of Christ, is following love, as this is the foundation of the law and the prophets.

Freedom then becomes freedom from rituals and ceremonies, sabbaths, the shadow of that
which is fulfilled in Christ, but not the changed heart expressing the fruit of the Spirit.
But this image is not so much as obedience but what one has become through repentance
and faith and walking in His ways.

4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
6 You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
Psalm 5:4-6

13 Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?
14 But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out.
Psalm 10:13-15

6 For the fool speaks folly, his mind is busy with evil: He practices ungodliness and spreads error concerning the LORD; the hungry he leaves empty and from the thirsty he withholds water.
7 The scoundrel's methods are wicked, he makes up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even when the plea of the needy is just.
8 But the noble man makes noble plans, and by noble deeds he stands.
Isaiah 32:6-8

24 Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:24

2 Now we know that God's judgement against those who do such things is based on truth.
3 So when you, a mere man, pass judgement on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgement?
4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realising that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?

"How is taking them home a chastisement? Unless they went the other way?"

We tend to view everything from the lens of Salvation. Is someone saved or not. Obviously that is THE most important issue. But it is by no means the ONLY issue. There are things that accompany Salvation.

Eternity is a looooong time. There will be different positions and rewards. SOME will be priests and kings. But WHO exactly are they going to be kings over?

There will be many in heaven that are like refugees from a disaster. Just being there, which in itself will be awesome. But there will be others who have stored up treasures awaiting them in Heaven. Paul was accutely aware of this "race" to win prizes, and fearful he would be disqualified for the prizes and rewards.

Several yrs ago there were terrible wildfires in the canyons of California. Some people heeded the impending warnings and sent a lot of their valuables to safety as well as left themselves. Some, like my cousin, listened a little bit later and she, and her family got out, but just with the clothes on their backs. Everything, including their house, was burnt to the ground.

Still others didn't believe that everything they owned and most importantly THEY THEMSELVES would be destroyed and perished.

So, by the Lord removing His children through discipline, they are like the Prodigal son who used up all his inheritance, yet he himself was still IN the kingdom.
There is a definite cost to disobedience that will only be fully known in light of eternity.

I am a gentile. I wasn't raised according to mosaic law and never was circumcised. I was in my mid 20's when I heard the Good News. I live according to the new covenant and read the new testament first. I see no reason to go back. I fell in love with God and try to obey him because I want to please him and because I respect him.

Like any child I need to be chastised on occasion but I do not weep long. I know he loves me and will not abandon me. My Father is the king of the Universe!

Yes, they were saved. The Bible says all who were there were believers. As I've said many times, God does chastise His children, even to the point of taking them home, but they can never be lost.

At the moment of conversion, one is saved forever. Even if they walk away later. They couldn't go to hell if they tried. If salvation is truly a gift, and grace actually unmerited, this has to be so.
Many an old time preacher would hold to this idea, "At the moment of conversion, one is saved forever."

As the years go by, they come to see only when the seed of Gods word has born fruit in their hearts
and produces a crop of new seeds of Gods word out of their mind, can one say, they are saved.

If this was not so, there are more unbelieving believers going to be in heaven having no clue how or
why they are there. It also makes a mockery of transformation and the walk of communion with the
Lord, obedience, love and the fruit of the Spirit.

It would be like saying sowing to evil passions does not lead to death and judgement, it is just a
temporary illusion, you are actually sowing to eternity and grace. No. That is the world of people
living a sinful life, and the pastor in the church saying they are looking down from heaven waving
at their family. We are the word within our hearts, what we are full of and the Spirit that dwells there.

Jesus uses the word "worthy" for a reason. We have the responsibility to be the witness to His work
and word in our hearts. We who know the King, know how to love, honour and praise Him.
