FHS: I pray from the bottom of my heart you will have your eyes and ears open to the truth, and in that truth you will be feel the peace and freedom only God can give.
I am though perplexed. I grew up in a family which needed the sermon on the mount to be lived out.
It needed true love and emotional reality practised by each family member but it was not.
And my life is founded on listening to Jesus and following His words as I dwell on them daily.
It is His principles and precepts I desire most, to see who He faced and where He saw failure and problems.
So with a lifetime of seeing His word work out in my marriage and my kids and church life, to hear it
is just a false self righteousness is grieving and truly sad, but not for me, but for you.
These are the words of life, eternity, the keys to the Kingdom.
It sounds trite, but I knew the difference between trying and being. And the answer to this problem is
having an open heart and letting God purify us, cleanse us, seeing our humanity and those around us in
its full emotional honesty, we begin to see what matters and what is just fluff. Brutally honest, I could
do the worst sins possible, so dark is my heart, yet God forgives me and gives me grace.
In myself my reactions go to the immediate defence and attack rather than taking the blow and forgiving
and just letting His love flow.
These are the ways of the Kingdom, of the apostles. You will only begin to see it if you start walking it,
because then you hear them saying Amen, blessing, walk on, put to death the evil passions of this world
and put on the ways of the Spirit, love, patience, self control, faithfulness, endurance, praise.
But of course if one neither reads the words or believes them or walks them will this minister to their
hearts, and when the storm comes, their building will collapse and great will be its fall.
But it is not fear that drives us on, it is love and listening to Jesus, and letting the word grow in our
hearts to eternal life, Amen.
