I agree with UnderGrace, entering into God's rest is, "Excellent, very uplifting."

Isaiah 26:3,4
3)
The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,
because he trusts in You.
4) Trust in the LORD forever,
because GOD the LORD is the Rock eternal.
Amen TT......faith saves eternally and the hope from said faith and salvation = a confident expectation of something GUARANTEED--->Eternal life through Christ

The biblical hope of a confident expectation of something guarantees seen in the words of Job....also proves the O.T. saints had an understanding of the resurrection and redemption found in Christ

Job 19:25-27
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

King David understood the resurrection.......

Foreseeing this, David spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did His body see decay.

Isaiah identifies Jesus as God in a very straight forward way....

A voice is calling, "Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God.

Peter testifies that the PROPHETS TESTIFIED and inquired about the salvation of the Lord and Grace....AND NOTICE WHAT SPIRIT WAS IN THEM--->THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST some 720 to 750 years before he comes on the scene

The prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired about this salvation; they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when they predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things which have now been announced to you by those who preached the good news to you through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. (1 Peter 1:10-12 RSV)

Thanks.....remember....how many times I have been accused of not posting scripture.....I have posted thousands of scriptures in this thread from the opening salvo....
Interesting isn't it, those who promote false doctrine seem to little to no compunction around making false allegations?

Notice the following verse....clear as, plain as....

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; and not of works lest any man should boast.

Literally....For by grace you are saved (dia) faith.....

dia is translated through....note the Greek word...

dia: through, on account of, because of
Original Word: διά
Part of Speech: Preposition
Transliteration: dia
Phonetic Spelling: (dee-ah')
Definition: through, on account of, because of
Usage: (a) gen: through, throughout, by the instrumentality of, (b) acc: through, on account of, by reason of, for the sake of, because of.

This word, tied to faith precludes any and all other means promoted by men and religions when it comes to what ACTUALLY IS THE MEANS of salvation.

And the attached statement...NOT OF WORKS LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST further precludes WORKS as part of what actually saves a man....

Faith is the means of salvation and it is out of the element of GRACE that we have been saved by said FAITH....

Think about that....if not for the imparted Grace of GOD.....FAITH would not save......but because of GRACE....we cam be saved DIA FAITH!!!!!!

I wonder what spiritual authority is working here through various individuals.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth be quite.
You have no authority here and need to leave.

There are many things said some from the heart of man, some from demonic influence,
some from possession, but all stand before the throne of God to whom we will all have
to answer. God bless you, and in Christ Jesus may you find Life everlasting, Amen

Amen! Not hard to understand. Just hard for works-salvationists to ACCEPT. Their hands are full of their works and they will not let go in order to receive Christ through faith. Some will even try to dance around Ephesians 2:8,9 by saying we are saved by "these" works and just not "those" works and teach that Ephesians 2:9 only applies to "those" works. Yet Paul made it clear that we are not saved by works in general (Romans 4:2-6; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9 etc..).

Ephesians 2:8-9 (AMPC) - For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God; Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]

Is our goal to be like Jesus in our walk, in our prayer life, in our expectations?
Are we like Jesus today?

How will we make up the gap, and does scripture call us to put effort in to do
this very thing, or is it all sloth of spirituality or called resting in God and He does it all?

If we claim to know Jesus yet abiding in sin is the slavery to which we must get used
to, of what benefit to us is faith?

Who believes someone who says, Yes I will do that, but does nothing compared to one
who both declares their intentions and carries them out?

We are saved through faith in Jesus and the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, but
this does not work if we stay as we are, because our faith and forgiveness are just words
with no impact.

just remember, while followhissteps ( peterjens ) lectures on and on about walking just as Jesus walked, he rejects the Biblical definition of sin, and goes with the got questions . org for his definitions of sin.

the words of one who has a got questions . org theology are hollow and empty.

Really my friend? I am lecturing by asking some simple questions.
Do you desire to walk like Jesus?

If you are arguing sin stops this ever being possible, that is a simple declaration.
Some believe this, so meaning we should rest in our current state.

In regards to having been saved by grace through faith, not works, Jesus did it all. (Ephesians 2:8,9) Christ's finished work of redemption is sufficient and complete to save believers. No supplements needed. (Romans 3:24-28) Justification is the work of God in which He accounts the believer as righteous apart from works (Romans 4:5-6; Philippians 3:9). This righteousness is not earned or maintained by the performance of those who have been saved through faith and is certainly not received by unbelievers.

Those who merely "claim" to know Jesus, yet abide in sin/continue in sin/practice sin which means they live a willful, habitual lifestyle of sin with no goal or effort to stop are deceived. 1 John 3:9 - No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

1 John 2:3 - He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. This is what believers are to strive for in their Christian walk and not in order to obtain or maintain salvation, but because we truly have been saved through faith and we love the Lord. Yet "nominal" Christians set out to perform the latter without accomplishing the former and continue to trust in their performance/works as the basis or means of receiving eternal life instead of trusting in Christ alone for salvation.

yes, a few days ago, I gave him the greek word for sin, and a brief definition of it, and his response was to link to gotquestions.org , where someone had asked "what is sin".

that happened late last week, if I have time, I will pull it up here. ( it's in this thread).

Looks like Fran got the boot again. Hope the same happens to Peter for the 4th time. He eats up so much space, requires so much time to fix his gross errors, not just in this thread anymore.

He feeds on the att like candy. I know people are going to, and sometimes need to respond to him, but oh how I wish we could all just starve him of his candy.
