I did, they quoted me the same verses that you are quoting here as a basis for what they believed (tongues).

If you are going to look at History you have to start with Book of Acts then move from there in church history. Also if you are going to suggest the Pentecostal experience is of the devil you will have to prove those who sought the gift of the Holy Spirit had in fact understanding of pagan practices and demonic acceptance.
You don't know what you are talking about because you have a bias not founded in sound reasoning or truth. 1. The only literature was the Bible rev Seymour did not have anything to do with pagan books or satanic rituals. Pentecostals were part of the holiness movement those items would never be allowed. You should have known that 2. You are suggesting that IF Christians come together and pray to God for the gifts of the Holy Spirit that the devil overpowers God and slips in a demon.

It will be very funny dismissing their tongues as false and claim yours is genuine.

Actually, yes we have been attacked. In fact we have been told if we do not experience these things we ar not saved.
I am not attacking either, I am just tryign to share with you that you do not need all those experiences to be used by God.
Tongues is prophecy spoken by God. God is no longer brining any new prophecy after any manner. So what would the purpose today, seeing it an evil generation that does seek after a sign. What kind of attention should one expect for looking to confirm something with a sign?

I don't understand how a person can say they know God at all if they are not in relationship with Him and filled with His Spirit
I fear for some here that are so opposed to the gifts...others I know are sincere
you don't understand that you are in opposition to God Himself and you dig into your position more and more and your heart just keeps getting harder
it's as serious as a tombstone. I honestly think some do not quite believe the Bible they say they believe
God is not flesh and blood yet you want to understand Him with your flesh and blood mind.

apparently many do not think there will be a judgement seat in the future and that all we do, Christian or not, will come to light and God will just burn up your works...but in His grace I suppose, if you have accepted His Son in truth, you will still gain entrance
but how ashamed you will be until all tears are washed away

So what are you going to show me? The post where I said I USED TO BE a cessationalist, but that I have now changed my mind? And even when I said I was a cessationalist. I also said that if God needed to use the gift of toungus today, Nothing is stoping him from doing it. So you better make sure you get that post also. Because there are many here who will witness and attest to the fact I have said those things.
I am not making an insult. I ma just trying to point out a flaw you seem to have in this issue of tongues.. where you do not see things as you should and act in ways which I am sure it it was any other subject you would agree you should not.
Experience is not the validator of spiritual understanding. If it was what happened in the garden? No such thing as a sign gift. Spiritual gifts not seen, yes. Signs and wonders gospel, no. We are commanded to walk by faith. Not a option.
The reason the scripture says judgement day is full of surprises, those that expect to be called righteous will not be called righteous and those that didn't expect to be called righteous will be called righteous. It is not what we do but what He does.
In other words, the first shall be the last and the last shall be the first.
You also don't understand that the fear for judgement does not come from God but satan. Why would anyone fear? because they don't understand.

I always revert back to what Jesus said, An evil and aduterous generation seeks after a sign, and non will be given to it excpet for the sign of Jonah (the word of God)
I believe this generation of the last century or two fits perfectly in what Jesus was talking about.

actually the opposite is true...no surprise you would contradict the truth however
when we experience what the Bible says we SHOULD experience, like being filled with the Spirit of God and praying and speaking in tongues...gaining understanding by the Spirit...walking and being led by His Spirit and receiving what other spiritual gifts God wishes us to have, the Bible becomes complete and the word of God is once again made true
just as a person must receive Christ by faith, so also do we receive what God desires to give to us
denying the power of God is not a gift of the Holy Spirit
those who continue to do so may receive another spirit whether they ask for it or not
accepting the lies of the devil leaves a person open to receiving the things that are from him
now those who are truthful in their uncertainty are one thing, but those who seek to do harm, and God knows the heart here, are listening to another spirit and not the Holy Spirit
the gifts are real and they are for the building up of the body of Christ. tearing down is NOT of God
confusion is not of God and double mindedness is not of God
further, I do not believe everyone needs to speak in tongues to be filled with the Holy Spirit...I believe there are some here who do not even know they are filled but by the words they speak and the conviction of their posts I would say they are filled, but do not speak in tongues
that may confuse some, but others may nod their heads in agreement
there is a completely different thing that happens when the Holy Spirit anoints what someone says or does and some here know what I mean by that also

I would think a person would investigate as to why would God accredit the sign with those who refuse to hear the word of God as a law founded in Isaiah 28 .Which is clear and the theme of the doctrine. .The same one that confirmed it many years later (1 Corinthians 14) .Why avoid looking at the foundation avoid the outcome of the sign . And yet for all that make tongues prophecy (God's word) without effect by the oral tradition of men.
From my experience those who look to confirm the sign as being filled with the Holy Spirit simply are turning things as if things of God where loosed from earth confirming they were heard on high. It is why the doctrine was founded men refused to believe prophecy .
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: For with stammering lips (mocking lips) and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear. Yet for all that they will keep this oral tradition they call a sign gift as if we walked by sight to begin with which is actually a curse they have named tongues also .Two different doctrines apposing each other .The doctrine of God as it is written and those who seek after a signs and wonders gospel as a oral tradition of men

So instead of showing where I ever said that the gifts haved ceased and are no longer in use. You come back and try to show this as your example.
