1 For this reason we must pay closer attention to the things we have heard, or we may drift away,

2 because if the message spoken by angels was reliable, and every violation and act of disobedience received its just punishment,

3 how will we escape if we neglect a salvation as great as this? It was first proclaimed by the Lord himself, and then it was confirmed to us by those who heard him,

4 while God added his testimony through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

Has the body of Christ at large, drifted away?

I experience gods power in many ways every day. I take offense that you or anyone else thinks I have to have some special manifestation of the spirit to experience Gods power.

That is the problem with many churches, they focus too much on certain things, and not enough on others. And think unless you have these things, something is wrong..
Do you minister to others through the gifts? They are given for this purpose. Holy Spirit is the anointing. The oil poured out over the whole.

What I see is you think the word “tongue” has a different meaning than the modern day word “language” even though the greek word would fit BOTH english words. (Not seperate)
No, what I said is the term "modern day tongues" is not in the New Testament. You cannot show me in the Greek translation the term "modern-day tongues". it is not there. That is your own understanding.

EG you stand for truth no matter how people feel in other threads. Despite feelings. You should understand without offense.

Also, when you all say tongues is just babbling, we shouldn't be offended?

The spirit has access to Jesus on the throne room. He can speak on our behalf without us ever hearing a word.

That is what is so great about the HS. Being an omnipresent being, he can not only be in all people. He can at the same moment be in the presence of God.
Yet He's hiding His Presence?

The HS annointed me almost 40 years ago. And he has given each of us including me, gifts to use within the sphere of the body of Christ.

Not all gifts are “experience” gifts.

Some have the gift of helps. The gift of teacher. The gift of discernment etc etc.

Most the time, in my experience, when a person uses their gift, they do not even know it, It is just by nature somethign they have been gifted to do.. They affect people. And God gets the credit.

Have I ever said all tongues are babbling? And if I did, I would understand if you were offended.

Thats what I mean, That is not a term, it is an explanation.

What many see in some churches as the manifestation of tonues, is not found in the NT.

So using the term modern day tongues to explain that is not a sin or a crime.

And what DC was discussin is the word tongue, what does it mean, Not modern day tongues.

What you are doing is defending your belief at all costs. So your not even see what is being said..

To the person speaking that tongue, that definition applies to them

It does not mean they will speak in a new language NO ONE can understand..or ever heard of. On the day of pentecost. The “new tongies” the disciples were speaking was KNOWN by the people who the language was native to. They spoke to them in their own language, and this was a SIGN from God.

that went on for many a years.

Truthfully I don't know if you did or not. But this should never divide the body. It's scriptural whether one has experienced it or not.

People are so afraid of the devil. That's my beef with this. Trust the Lord! He gives good things to His own!

He's before the throne, and in you. Yet He doesn't make Himself known to you? He wants to move through you EG.
I never said he did not

Please stop trying to assume things i have never said.

The HS manifests himself to me in many ways that many people can only imagine, He does not need to manifest himself in me by opening my mouth and speaking some language I have no comprehension of. It would not make me believe in him or God any more or any less. If anything, It would probably scare the you know what out of me, and if I did not KNOW a demon can not possess abody which was possessed by the HS, I would probably go off the deep end thinking I weas demon possessed.

The HS prays for me in words I can not even hear, groanings I could not understand anyway, whether I hear him or not is beside the point, He still prays for me, and I have faith in knowing he has my back!

No, that can't be right because Paul said tongues of angels. You just want to understand something spiritual in the natural way.

And I love you EG. I want you to know...these things are wonderful to experience for it's God. High praise is awesome in the Spirit.

Did you know that discernment is seeing into the spiritual realm? It's mostly misunderstood and suspicion is thought to be discernment.

I would not want to see fully this way for I've had glimpses and that's enough for me.

You know when the power is moving through you in whatever gift it is, for it's not of us.

Yeah they are afraid of satan

Thats why many are afraid of this. Satan comes as an angel of light. And we see in Jesus own words that people prophecy an do all kinds of things in jesus name, when it was in reality satan. Thats why using experiences to say you are saved is dangerou, you do not know if it is god or satan.

You clearly don't understand what a spirit is.

If speaking in the spirit is speaking things that you don't understand, what will 'walking in the spirit' look like? two left steps followed by three right steps?!!

I never said that the baptism and gifts given is salvation. Part of it but am not of that group.

I say it's for all who want more.
