My LANGUAGE OF THE SPIRIT is not babbling or gibberish. It's words.

The tongues witness as a outward sign that confirms a person has no faith. You need to begin with the doctrine of tongue according to the law of God. It is found in Isaiah 28.

And for all that yet they refused to belief the doctrines of God replacing it with this oral tradition of men. Basically make a noise fills up a person lacking the Holy Spirit as in many ways to be filled, fall back, holy laughter etc . Just do something others can see, hear or smell as holy .Holy edify one selfie as ones own personal source of faith that moves a person to do his own will. (called will worship)

I don't mean this as an insult. But...one cannot understand the gifts of Holy Spirit until one has tasted.

I couldn't. Plus I was told it was the devil. Exact words. This is just superstition, and deceptive lies of the enemy to keep the body of Christ bound from being a force in the world as Jesus meant it to be.

Plus....Jesus operated with all giftings. Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Father.

The only thing I am trying to understand is when you hear someone speaking in tongues how do you know when it is real or a counterfeit?

The same way you know you are born again. Trusting a good God. And who are you worshipping?? Or they....who are they worshipping?

I saw a possessed girl once. You can tell the spirit by the fruit.

A friend of mine who does not speak in tongues asked the Lord about this.
He speaks a foriegn language and when praising the Lord he likes to use it.
Three times others in congregation at different times translated his prayers without knowing
the language or being aware of what they were doing.

It is amazing how the Lord transcends our understanding and limitations.
I am amazed at how through tongues my spirit can talk with God, in a way
my mind does not. God bless you

You made the comparison sis...not me....and baseball chatter is not peddled as tongues.........Like I have said....when one can stand up, speak English and a Chinese man with no English back ground can understand and hear the English in Mandrin and another can interpret....I will buy it......until then......cease, fail and vanish away continue to be ignored while MOST occurences are nothing more than fleshly outbursts......note.....I said MOST....not ALL......Or...one with NO BACKGROUND IN MANDRIN can stand and speak it fluently with interpretors......

Well this surprises me Dcon, for basically you are saying you won't believe unless you see. Kind of like Thomas. Faith is believing first and this is recorded in scripture. Isn't that correct? You are the first one to declare this on your own thread. Another subject but faith is the substance that pleases Father. You know all this better than I.

Child like faith. It takes this to take that first step. And tongues is not weak. I've had power surge through my body when very ill as I pray. It's a blessing I hope for all to have for I want to see the body rise in the power that Jesus walked in.

I also know that the bible states tongues shall cease....study that out in the Greek....I also know by family, friends and their testimony that most is fraudulent....and I also know what took place in Acts is NOT WHAT TAKES PLACE in most charismatic churches.....make no mistake....the word of God defines my belief and defines our practice...I have yet to see a biblical practice or honesty from most the push the least of the gifts...that being languages
