The bible says that the only sin that cant be forgiven is denying God. So if I was fully against his belief and openly denied his existance but am not now then I will still go to hell?

the Bible does not say that the sin of denying God can't be forgiven. If that were truth Peter would not be saved now would he?

Remember, Jesus said they were in danger of committing that sin, while they were doing that very sin.

We have until we die to repent of that sin, if we however die in that state, we are lost.

Hello Katherine,

Your statememt: Quote ""I was fully against his belief and openly denied his existence but am not now""

Although a good start, doesn't quite pass the litmus test for forgiveness & salvation.

We must acknowledge our sins before God our creator. And place our faith/trust in Jesus Christ. Acts 20:24

Find additional help here:

Romans 10:
8 The word is near you, even in your mouth, & in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach

9 If you will confess with thy mouth that Jesus is Lord, & and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(NOTE: God imputes/credits our faith/belief/trust in Jesus, with a declaration of righteousness. Salvation comes upon your heart felt confession, that Jesus, who was raised from the dead. Is your Lord & saviour)

11 For the scripture says, Whoever believes on Jesus shall not be ashamed.
(NOTE: Whoever BELIEVES! Places their FAITH in Jesus!)

12 There is no difference between the Jew & the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him

13 13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved
(NOTE: Confess that Jesus died for your sins (paying your sins wage) was buried (proof he died) & rose from the grave (resurrection is the receipt, payment was received & accepted)

Dear every one of us were against Him before we came to believe.
If He doesn't forgive our past animosity and unbelief, there's no salvation for anyone!
But He gave Himself for us when we were all in that state. :)

So why does it say its the only sin that cant be forgiven?
we are born in a state of unbelief. (in adam)

if we die in that state, we are condemned.

Jesus paid for every other possible sin.

I really dont get this. If it can be forgiven then why does it say it cant? Surely you cant just pick and choose from the bible? Either you follow it or you dont?

As I said, He said they were in danger. Even though they were literally blaspheming the HS in what they said, ie he was giving them an opportunity to repent

the sin becomes unforgivable after you die. Up until that time you can repent.

I know its confusing,

I believe Blaspheming the Holy Spirit could only have been done in Jesus' physical Earthly Presence. And it had to do with attributing the miracles of Jesus to satan.

He says it wont be forgiven in this age. The time frame He walked the Earth, AND in the age to come. The time He walks the Earth again in the millennial Kingdom, just before satan is set free for the last time.

It appears that your confusion is rooted in a misunderstanding.

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is unforgivable. Other forms of blasphemy are forgivable. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is attributing His work to demons, which is what the Pharisees were doing when Jesus performed miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Which they were doing, Yet jesus said they were just in DANGER.

What they did was attribute the work of God and his word to satan or someone else.

This is called unbelief.

To make this simple and clear... if you become saved, you're forgiven. If you do not become saved you're not forgiven.
Since we start out without being saved, but can, during the course of our lives, get saved, then we are forgiven of disbelief.

How do you become saved?
By Allowing God to save you.. Meaning you have to stop resisting the fact you need saved, You can save yourself and your not guilty, And trust God when he said if you believe in him, He will give you eternal life.

Believe on the Lord Jesus. Jesus died on the cross and then rose again on the third day to pay the price for our sins. Trust in Jesus and trust in his work on the cross to save you. Don't rely on yourself to be saved, just trust Jesus to be your Savior and confess him as your Lord.

You are referring to the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, which is indeed the unpardonable sin. The context makes it clear that the enemies of Christ who attributed His mighty miracles to Satan, were blaspheming, or speaking ill, of the Holy Spirit, who was behind those miracles.

But you were -- like everyone else before conversion -- an enemy of and an alien from God. However, if you believe with all your heart that Christ died for your personal sins, and rose again for your personal justification, you can have eternal life. But God commands repentance and genuine faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work of redemption.

The bible says that the only sin that cant be forgiven is denying God.
we should forget about what any person says is 'the unforgivable sin' and read again exactly what the Bible does say:

Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that He and His disciples were not even able to eat. When His family heard about this, they went to take charge of Him, for they said, “He is out of his mind,” and the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons He is driving out demons.”
So Jesus called them over to Him and began to speak to them in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand, and if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house. Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
He said this because they were saying, “He has an impure spirit.”

You've been given some good info here-though you don't need to add any works to believing in Jesus for salvation.
