I was responding to YTG's post where he said circumcision is our purification. I can see why he would say that but it's not accurate.


Joh 2:5　 His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you."


Joh 2:6　 Now there were six stone jars, used for the Jewish ritual of purification, each holding two to three measures.


Joh 2:7　 Yeshua said to them, "Fill the jars with water!" So they filled them up to the top.

The wine symbolizes the Spirit. No longer men performing rites using earthly means....water, but within our spirit we are purified when we receive Holy Spirit.

Jesus had said it wasn't the time yet for that was the Cross and resurrection of Jesus to purify us. Spirit of Christ. The new birth.

Circumcision is the flesh put to death by the working of Holy Spirit in our life. The axe put to the tree, that the first couple ate of in unbelief, that we might eat of the tree of life in faith. Belief. .

Paul would not say you are saved by not obeying by repenting of sins. Paul was talking about not of the works of the law in which circumcision is the sign.

Paul even says that he preached repentance and faith.

2 Corinthians 12:21 I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual sin and debauchery in which they have indulged.


Looks like they never repented of their sins to get saved!


Acts 20:21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

I said CIRCUMCISION of the FLESH was the OLD WORKS OF THE LAW that was the sign of the PURIFICATION WORKS OF THE LAW.

Do you really think that the message that saves is about not repenting of sins but believing Jesus' blood cleans you of sins you don't even know you do?!

We have to confess our sins with our mouth and repent of them.

Under the OT covenant, circumcision performed on the 8th day was for citizenship in the nation of Israel.

It was a work of law, true. But, these things are types and shadows of the work of God in our lives to prove we belong to Him.

The works of the Spirit.

The 8th day symbolizes new beginnings. Circumcision certainly is that when Holy Spirit comes.

The old PURIFICATION WORKS of the law in which CIRCUMCISION of the flesh was the sign---those purification works used to be the righteous works that the people HAD TO WORK AT AND DO THEMSELVES.

The people had to do THOSE WORKS THEMSELVES to clean themselves just to have a relationship with God.

They were purified externally and justified because they atoned for their souls. They took care of their sin nature by doing that, and the Gentiles did NOT do those things, therefore they were dead in their sins and they were WITHOUT God in the world and without the promises.

When Jesus came and was crucified, he also let the Gentiles be saved too. He did NOT make them get circumcised first to get saved, he saved them while they were UNCIRCUMCISED ENEMIES of God who were DEAD in their sins.
