I could care less for the tax paying system, I feel sorry for individuals who want to serve money instead of Jesus. Matthew 6:24-30. Please show me where Jesus ever worked for money in the Bible in the first place. Give me scripture. Like I have given you. He used money YES, but NEVER worked for a paycheck in his life. When brought a coin to him Luke 20:24, he didn’t even know who it was that was on it, if he did handle and work for money why would he ask such a thing? Do you really think the creator of the universe needed money to take care of himself? When he created everything? Paul did pay for things, but guess where he got the money from? It’s in Acts 2:45. It never says Paul received money for building tents. That is assuming. I don’t think you read what I posted, I have scripture that shows what you claim is false. The men and women worked preaching the gospel and served God, Jesus provides everything for them. Including if they needed money.
How old are you, do you have a family and do you currently work? If not, who or what is your means of support? It is hypercritical to say that it is OK to use money while at the same time saying that you should not work for it.

If Jesus is making a parable about himself, what would you say he sold to give himself eternal life? It makes no sense, Jesus is showing Luke 14:33 and Acts 4:32-37 and many others things he quoted as a comparison of what eternal life requires. Jesus is the pearl of great price brother, and you would obey him and follow his commands to inherit eternal life.
In the parables in Matthew 13, it is important to view them [interpret them] "consistently," (meaning, along with the other parables in that chapter--not flipping back and forth, as to meaning), but what you are doing, here (and those who interpret them as you are, here), is/are not doing that.

We are not "buying" [or, 'to buy'] eternal life.

Take a look at Philippians 2:5-11, to see what Jesus did, though. :)

Thanks for welcoming me though.
You are welcome. :)

Are you really serious in saying that the God who created the universe did not know who it was on the coin? The question was asked for the benefit of the one who presented the coin and for those who read scripture. Jesus certainly knew the inscription on the coin.

Welcome to CC!

Since you mentioned we shouldn’t work (or so I think that’s what you’re saying), I would love to hear of how God is providing for you. I like hearing of how God provides for all our needs.

Serving money is working to obtain it, Paul says in Romans 6:16 that whosoever you serve your obeying.

Using money is not working to have it, God provides money when needed, and Jesus had money to utilize. Never worked for it though.

You did not address the questions that I asked. The reason that I have asked these questions is to get a better understanding of the point that you are trying to convey. In regards to money, someone had to earn it in the first place irregardless of who is now spending it. If you truly believe that it is OK to spend money but not OK to earn it then the money that is spent has come from a tainted source and you are being disingenuous and not to be taken seriously. God does indeed provide money but the thing is someone first had to work to earn it.

You should not work for money, you should work for Jesus preaching the Word,(Matthew 6:19-24) take no thought for your life (Matthew 25-34) healing the sick, casting out devils. (Luke 7:22, Luke 9:6) Because if you work for both you will hate one and love the other. (Matthew 6:24) Don’t worry about food and clothing, where you are going to get them (Matthew 25).

I have in fact traveled preaching the Gospel in Houston by myself and all I did was preached out of the Old Testament in front of a store and I was approached by someone who offered me food and shelter and paid for it in full. I had little money. I hitch hiked there with no plans, and God kept me safe -and provided what was needed. This is what Jesus commands everyone who loves him to do to inherit eternal life.

Brother just because God provides money for you from someone who has worked to earn it, doesn’t mean you can’t accept it. And doesn’t mean you broke a commandment (Matthew 6:24) the person who serves money is not serving god. That has nothing to do with the person who is trying to share the gospel. Utilize means use. Serving means working for: Money, Food, Clothes, Boss, College etc.

So what you are saying is that you refuse to work and you allow others to make up your slack. OK, I get the picture. We're finished here. I work too hard for my money only to be given to the likes of people like you who places no value or appreciation for the effort that is required to support able-bodied parasites that sponge off others.

To hell with your worthless money, Jesus will Judge you brother, there will be no excuse when you face him. You will be grinded to powder if you ignore him and his teachings. Your blood is on your own head.

The thing is that Jesus died for the sins that I have confessed and I have invited the Holy Spirit in my heart to comfort and guide me in the lifelong repentance process.

You are correct in saying that I will have no excuse when I face God. I have already been judged guilty but Jesus paid the penalty for my sins. Jesus is my defense attorney and will plead my case. In the eyes of God I will be as pure and white as the driven snow.

You may benefit from a reading of the first chapter of Isaiah, "Come now, and let us reason together..."Also, I highly recommend Proverbs, especially the ones that pertain specifically to work. You may benefit from an anger management regimen as well.

Hi JesusOnly777,

I feel for you brother because I have shared your frustration.

But now, instead of looking at others who call themselves Christians, I try to concentrate my efforts on my own attaining of Life through Jesus Christ, which, if I do well, might actually be the most helpful thing I can do for others.

The more I can get the plank out of my own eye, the more my whole body will be full of light, the more my light will shine before others, and so I may preach the gospel to every creature precisely by that light, which is the way I live my whole life and not just my words.

Did you rebuke that generous man for earning money...or did he miraculously find it in the bushes? There is a difference between earning money, and serving money. Even Christ used the parable about a man hiring men at different times of the day for a danari. The point obviously missed by yourself is the importance we give to the money. Also not to dedicate our abilities to amass great wealth and possessions.

We are to be beacons of light in the dark. Going into the world and gaining position in the workforce and favour from the bosses because of our positivity, and ethics is a good thing. If God has told you not to work as He sent John the Baptist to the wilderness, then be blessed. He has instructed me to be a plumber and learn everything I can. There are many people I have been able to help and bless by providing a needed service to needy people. With that money earned I have been able to bless others who may need help with bills and food. We can’t feed five thousand with two loaves but maybe we can feed one with two dollars. Dollars exchanged for the labours of our willing hands in service to our Lord and Savior.

As a another member has eloquently stated, be blessed in your current calling from God and for what God's will is for your life in the days to come. All of us are called by God for a purpose and I respect you in the way you have conducted yourself in faithfully carrying out your assigned task. I also apologize for my harsh treatment of you in my previous replies. That was uncalled for and for that I am truly sorry. Let us go in peace now brother and do our best in what God has called us to do. :)

Brother you are missing what Jesus says, don’t work for the food that perishes and then all the nessary things you need to survive will be provided for you without serving a boss or money (Matthew 6:33), sell your belongings, don’t worry about any worldly thing, preache full time, because you can not serve your boss and God at the same time (in other words money (Matthew 6:24).

When work is mentioned in the New Testament it is talking about obeying Jesus commands and working for him. No money is ever obtained from preaching the gospel, they sold everything (Acts 4:32-37, Luke 5:11, Luke 14:33). It is required by every follower.

They also thought Christ was coming immediately. Like I stated prior, there’s a big difference between working to serve money and working to earn money that serves you. The former is placing trust for your future in material possessions. The latter is trading skill and labour for a commodity that is more liquid to be again traded for needed items. Items that we give thanks to God for providing. If I lost all of my money and job I wouldn’t care. I understand it is provision from the Lord. It is just where He has placed me to serve Him presently, witnessing to some coworkers and helping serve the needy.

Brother I accept your apology, if you don’t believe me and what Jesus said test it out yourself. Go out with no script or purse and preach the four gospels and you will see God deos provide. You don’t need money to do this.

Peace be apon you.

I betting you have put more hours in at your job than working for God. And you have spent more money on yourself than you have given to the poor. I know this because I am guilty of doing the same thing. The world holds you down brother and it makes you a slave to money. Paying rent, house bills, mortgage, collage funds, car loans, insurance. Literally a slave to money. You don’t need money to preach the word, because God provides all you need, I know this because of experience.
