Notice that James heard of this faith alone doctrine, then he goes into deep explanation how it is wrong.

The purification works are the works of the law, but from the scriptures we see that people misunderstood Paul and thought it meant to have faith only and not obedience; so James explains it from the point of their misunderstanding.

Peter must have heard of the false beliefs too of faith alone. He says people misunderstand Paul, and then he warns us to obey.

See 2 Peter 3:16, 17, and all of 2 Peter 3.
James did not hear about a faith alone doctrine

He heard about a CLAIMED faith doctrine, also known as mere belief, And later termed licentiousness

Wow man, You need to go to church and start to learn some things.

We have to eat his words. We can't eat his words by any other way than by obeying his words.
Lol

You have it backwards man

You eat. Then the food is processed. Then the work is started

You do not work forst..

Again, Where do you come up with this stuff?

So you're reformed in your theology?
I doubt it though....reformed persons are very big on doing good deeds....
More drivel and assumptions....you do not know me or my life...unlike You I boast in Jesus and not the things I do in his name....but of course one that helps a weak jesus not in the bible must boast of what they do in his name.....just like the MANY.....good luck with that

yes, we do have a problem with language.

the words " believe " and " obey " are not the same, even though fran and some others think so.

the definition of sin is missing the mark, falling short of a standard, knowing to do good and not doing so, whatever is not of faith is sin.

followhissteps ( not sure who he is following, not Jesus) does not recognize the definition of sin, though he lectures about it constantly.

we certainly do have a language and definition problem.
because the self-righteous and self saviors have to bend and twist and deny so they can prop up their self delusions of having to do their part to help God save them.

One reason the resident Catholic rejects the Greek......

Could it be that they want their works to count SO BAD, that they are willing to ROB GOD of the GLORY THAT BELONGS TO HIM.

Well, even the ones in Matthew 7:22 (of whom Jesus will say, "I *NEVER* KNEW you") will say, "...HAVEN'T *WE* DONE... MANY WONDERFUL WORKS…" [and even "in thy name" done them!] ...(that was their focus, though being "not-saved persons")

I really, really, really do not like it when Jesus is made into a weak Saviour by promoting their self effort to earn salvation.......my all time trigger!!!:mad:

Some make Jesus a cruel task master, another trigger....they never quote this verse though.....

Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”…
Matthew 11:29

their root was corrupt....their root being a blend of faith and works for as evidenced by thier own words....

Lord Lord <--belief Jesus is Lord
Have we not done<---the elements of works

together -->faith plus works for <---Galatians hammers this and at least 3 to 5 in this very thread peddle this view daily......

Oh I know......I despise the crap they peddle ...

Lol. Another one who peddles works and refuses to give his denomination.

Lol. How can we have faith in you if you can not even be honest?

I know......funny how almost ALL PEDDLERS of a works based false losable self sustained dogma refuse to say who they associate with.....they are actually ashamed to admit who they associate with....speaks volumes
