I'm looking for a new mattress - I'd like to buy one of these but I'm not sure if a like the idea of a memory foam gel topping - do you folks have any experience with the memory foam? I've heard you tend to sink into and stick in place.

We have a a hybrid memory foam, and I hate it. It doesn't support, it is hard to move on, and it hurts my back. My daughter got a true memory foam, and it was toast in a year. She said it was impossible to move on. Apparently the high quality, very expensive memory foam is a bit better.

I personally would stay away from memory foam anything. I would get a nice bed with a soft cushion, but something that will support your back and body. I think memory foam was a fad, like water beds! LOL

Just over a year ago I did buy a mattress with "memory foam. Haaving had a couple of broken backs three vertabrae each time, I appreciate the "memory" feature, and now with upper crevical problems even moreso.

Having sid this, I can understand how people with strong bones and body would not beso happy with one… I also use a cervical pillow, an that is highly questionable…..lol.

I have a memory foam mattress topper and it works very well. I have horrendous back problems and it helps greatly to have the topper. It came from Walmart and wasn't real expensive. Even my pillows are memory foam.. I LOVE them.. :)

I use a pillow under my right hip at night, and one between my knees.. and yes, the hip pillow is a memory foam pillow.. lol

I finally did it. I bought a new pair of shoes with memory foam insoles. No more forgetting why I walked into the kitchen.

Thanks for the feedback - I have a cotton futon - a couple of years back my hips were hurting after a night's sleep, I bought a 3 inch regular foam topper to place over it - it's not bad comfort wise.

I'll probably stick with what I've got.

I am quite late to reply here, well I also use memory foam gel topping, and it's too much comfy and lightweight, we can move easily, I bought it from nest bedding mattress sale after reading its benefits and reviews, if you still wanna buy you can check there, I hope it will help you in future.

UPDATE on my mem/foam mattressIt is recommended to turn the mattriss 180 degrees every once anda while. I have done this. I think the mattress has lost its memory or it has a mind of its own. I do like it still but it does develop "sink/holes" mostly due t my physique, lol.

a mattress topper can be replaced more easily than a whole mattress, I flip mine over and end to end to further the life. I look at the "Purple" brand and wonder if that would be better, the Sealy brand topper gets the highest marks in some surveys.

I have a 3" memory foam/gel (cool foam) topper. It is much better than my memory foam topper was. No more sweaty nights. No more waking up with back and neck pain.

My mattress is not memory foam, but all my pillows and my mattress topper are. I LOVE them. They don't go flat, and they fluff back into place when you're done with them..

I bought a very high priced Temperpedic Memory foam mattress, I paid a total of 3600.00 for it and the frame, why? Because my back was in bad shape and I thought it might be helpful. NOT. I have yet to even use the fancy part that lifts my head or feet in the air, nor the vibration, nor the heat. I think I must have experienced a sucker day. And worse than this is the fact that the furniture company that I bought it from cheated me on the amt due, I am still trying to find a way to deal with them, may end up taking them to small claims court. I do not like the fact that when I set on the mattress it sinks way in, it does come back but I am not sure how long this will last, and the other part right beside me, is like a stiff mountain, my partner is dead so I live alone, and am the only one in the bed, the other side never gets used, and i keep trying to break in more of the mattress but it is hard to move on it, everything considered if i had it to do over again, I would try to find another regular mattress like I had before, it was very comfortable, and I only paid about 500.00 for it, about 25 years ago, it lasted that long and was far from being over. Live and learn, I guess. I really like an air mattress better than the one i got.

when my last foam mattress gave out, I experienced the lower back pain first thing in the morning, the new mattress I ordered I goofed up big time, way to hard, got a foam topper and it is ok, I do wonder about the Purple foam crate type and am curious if that might make a decent topper, but don't see one offered.
