Hi JPT

The bible does teach two different steps to being saved.
One is purely an act of God...this would be Ephesians 2:8-9

What many refuse to believe is step two.
This would be Ephesians 2:10

The church has pretty much decided to call it:
Sanctification
or
Progressive Justification.

It means that we are on a road to holiness....but to be on that road means to work with God and to walk alongside Him.

IF we're walking alongside God....then we are required (a term much hated around here) to obey Him and to walk in His way. It's a cooperative act and God does not sanctify us without our approval and cooperation.

Galatians 5:16.........
and many more.....

2 Corinthians 10:5
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

I see the the two-fold step of salvation, from the perspective of Romans 10:10.

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

I say two-fold step, because “believe” carries the definition of trust, and commit to obey.

  • believes unto righteousness,
  • and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Obeying the Gospel is how a person is saved.

Obeying the Gospel is an eternal commitment, likened unto marriage.

It’s a commitment to obey Jesus as our Lord.

Undeniable scripture that prove Judas did not start out bad.
You know, I was thinking about this at work last night, and I realized that essentially, there will be millions of Judases on earth during the Millennium. Those untold number of children and their children's children, etc., born to those who came to Christ during the tribulation, will do just what Judas did. They will give superficial obedience and worship to Jesus while He is on earth during that thousand years, but as soon as Satan is released from the bottomless pit, their true colors will show, and they will join the devil in the final rebellion against our Holy king.

Wrong.

The Council Of Trent - CANON 9: "If any one saith, that by faith alone the impious is justified; in such wise as to mean, that nothing else is required to co-operate in order to the obtaining the grace of Justification, and that it is not in any way necessary, that he be prepared and disposed by the movement of his own will; let him be anathema."

If you are Catholic and believe one is justified by faith alone, according to them, you are damned.
this is what happens when people test the spirits of those trying to show them things, you find truth. Wich more would learn this nice little trick!

According to her own words @GodsGrace101 she does not believe anyone is saved until the end...........she has said this numerous times......

*Note....she asked I tag her when I speak of her so I did
Thanks D, I DO appreciate that you do....it's the right thing to do.

Actually you haven't understood me on the above matter.
This is a problem...our not being able to understand each other...
I don't mean only you and I,,,,but all of us here.

I've said many times that we can know we're saved right now because we love Jesus and follow in His way to the best of our ability.

I don't believe we'll RECEIVE our salvation till the end because it's possible to abandon the faith somewhere down the line.

This most certainly will not happen to me because I've know the Lord more than 40 years and through much tribulation so if I had to leave Him, I would have done it by now.

However the possibility does exist generally...so we won't be sure we're saved till the end of our lives.

Of course, YOU don't believe this because you believe in OSAS.

But please don't mis-represent me.

I've posted scripture on this biblical truth which you don't accept:

Here it is

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Romans 8:23-25
23And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.
24For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
25But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

1 Peter 1:5
5who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 3:15
15but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

Titus 1:2
2in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago,

Titus 3:7
7so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

She got quiet all of a sudden, didn't she?
The truth is the truth............I dare to say that most probably have no idea what the Catholic church actually teaches and or espouses.....

I had to go to two Catholic funerals....one in the U.S. and one in Australia.......and both made my skin crawl......especially when they brought up their PATRON SAINT that they all prayed to on their knees with their little benches pulled out of the pew in front of them and then at both that sang ALL HAIL MARY to a tune originally written with the name of JESUS in it and I was sickened by the Priest and his prayer to ALLOW this man the opportunity to gain entrance into heaven after he was already dead and gone..........I was utterly horrified at these gross examples of idolatry and heresy.........

You're 100% wrong...
But I don't care to discuss this with you.

Try reading the CCC instead of going back hundreds of years.

I agree with you to a great extent...
But I can also say we don't understand why they do this...
You're going to say there's no reason...
OK.

a. You make salvation a faith PLUS to keep or maintain <--False
b. You make salvation losable and kept by what we do<----False
c. You say no one is saved till the end <----False
d. You deny that JESUS finishes and completes the faith in us <----False

Obviously you don’t understand the principle of faith, and what faith requires to produce the intended divine result.

Faith must have the corresponding action of obedience, in order for faith to be activated, or “come alive” to function, otherwise it’s dead.

Jesus imparts faith to those who hear His word.

The faith you receive from Jesus must have the action of obedience in order for faith to be activated.

That’s why the Bible says “with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”.

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:10

Confessing Jesus as Lord is our response to the Gospel command REPENT.

Repent means to turn to God.

If you are called to turn to God, then by default you are commanded to turn away from Satan as your lord.

Confessing Jesus as Lord is obeying the command to repent; turn to God, in submission to His rule and Kingdom.

This is an eternal commitment.

I never said c......read my post.

a, b and d

are 100% correct.
Just because you and some here think it's right...does not make it right.

Salvation is free.
Sanctification is costly.

No sanctification.....no salvation.

If you believe, you must believe ALL Jesus said,,,not pick and choose.
If you do NOT believe,,,you're lost.

Why do I talk to you?
I think it has to stop.
It's useless because you don't seem to understand or accept what a person tells you.
Do you think you know what I believe better than I know what I believe?

Bye.

You, once again, contradict yourself. You say one can't know, but then say it "certainly" won't happen to you, then you say it's possible.

This is what your kind of theology does to people. It keeps them in the dark and fearful. They'll always be wondering if they've done enough to "earn" their way. You can't claim one is justified by faith alone, and then turn around and say "but you still can't know for sure".

That is NOT the "good news" of the gospel preached in scripture. To not know, and always fear for your eternal destiny, is TERRIBLE news.

It feeds the human will, it gives hope, albeit a false hope, which is why people buy into it so easily

I will be honest, if i was a worker for, i would be catholic. They have the most ways, and a just in case if you did not do enough while living as a back-up!

We are saved by faith in this life, and as long as we continue in the faith, we will receive the end result of that faith, which is the hope of salvation.

  • receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:6-9
