I know that the bible encourages us to walk by faith and trust in God with all the heart. These things, trusting in God and walking by faith, just don't come the most natural to me. I deal with anxiety quite frequently and at times panic attacks but these are less often than they used to be, but still not fun if it comes... What advice would you give on how to trust and step out in faith for someone like me who struggles in the area of trust in God?

i Cherie, when times are tough, it helps me to remember all that the Lord chose to do for those of us who are His, and what His motives were, which is His great and everlasting love for us (remembering too that He chose to die for us so that He wouldn't have to spend eternity apart from us, or we apart from Him).
It also helps me to think back to when I first came to faith, when I first trusted Him and surrendered the reins of my life to Him, knowing that He loved me & wanted/knew what was best for me, far better than I could ever hope to myself.
Then there are His great and wondrous promises to know and to always keep in mind. A couple of my favorites are found in the same chapter of Romans .. Romans 8:28, 32. God is always "for us", yes (even when nothing seems to be going well for us).
We all love it when things are going smoothly, of course, but I've found that I do far more growing as a Christian when life is anything but smooth sailing. This is why Spurgeon said:
"I've learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of Ages" ~Charles H. Spurgeon
We also need to remember that if life is easy all the time, we may actually need to consider whose "children" we really are, since God tells us plainly:
Hebrews 12
5 MY SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE LORD,
NOR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY HIM;
6 FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD LOVES HE DISCIPLINES,
AND HE SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.”
7 It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline?
8 But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?
10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness.
11 All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.
We also have these very important commands to consider, written for us through the pen of the Apostle Paul, to:
Philippians 4
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
So even in the midst of our prayers as we ask God to give us relief from our trials and sufferings, we can (and should) be thankful for everything, even for the things that make this life seem difficult or impossible in the moment, knowing that One who saved us in the first place also promised to sanctify us/make us more and more like His Son, as well as see us safely through this life to be with Him in Glory .. Philippians 1:6, 2;13; Hebrews 7:25.
God bless you! (Numbers 6:24-26)
~Deut
1 Thessalonians 5
23 May the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
