I appreciate the succinct way of keeping it simple. Yes, I agree it is all about Jesus. Up till the last year or so, I had avoided the old testament in my one on one time with Him. He is helping me dig in to truly understand the word in its entirety, so thank you for reminding me when it comes right down to it, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Yeah it amazes me the details and understanding ppl have. I am just so thankful that He gives us a hunger and thirst for the word. Jeremiah 15:16. I never looked at it quite that simply...we are to trust and obey God, through His son. I just know that I am thankful for this... Jude 1:24-25.
Well CharlieRenee, like Lafftur said the tabernacle is a picture of the heavenly and full of symbolism and different meanings. Remember what I said before about to much interpreting while we are reading. I think God expects us to make mental notes and read on. God can teach so many different thing with just a few examples.

Like the mercy seat has two covering cherubim. We know that is a high calling as Satan was over God's government (prophetic mountain) before the fall (see Ezek. 28:14). We could deduce there are two more covering cherubs from the picture. God could come along with another complete different lesson about those cherubim on how their wings touched. The word points to God's living truths.

I know you have read my first book when I outlined what is wrong with the way we handle crime and punishment. Leviticus covers the Cities of Refuge that God would have us use rather than prisons. There certainly were no provisions for free room and board for criminals. If they worked they ate, if they didn't work they starved. Thieves were put on a restitution policy so they had to work to pay back for what they stole. I think we will see how to really implement government during the millennium. :)

I definitely see moses as a type of Christ, seeing the parallels between the two.
I see Moses more like a type of Apostle Paul.

If Moses is the lawgiver, and the one that Jews understand the Law from, Paul is the apostle of Grace where Gentiles understand Grace from.

Oh thank you, Brother. I needed to be reminded...

I said before about to much interpreting while we are reading. I think God expects us to make mental notes and read on. God can teach so many different thing with just a few examples.

I overthink EVERYTHING so much and I need to be more patient, wanting to understand the BIG Picture. Silly silly, yes Lord, we are not to lean on our own understanding. I have your book on kindle... I will go look at the outline...know you have read my first book when I outlined what is wrong with the way we handle crime and punishment...

I know that focus grasshopper needs to be my tagline but I am reading slowly through your book, I am in the chapter on the captivity of insecurities. Brother. This chapter hits home for me, more than I want to admit. Your book is really a blessing just takes me awhile to get through books.

You know how long I have been in Exodus. I need to just keep reading not buzzing around. I am on a mission to focus and to not be a ppl pleaser, lol. Ugh!!! Thanks be to Him and His patience and mercy, I trust He will bring me and others more and more understanding and sanctification, ours is not to lean on our own understanding.

Anyway Brother, thank you for your time and counsel.

We are so blessed with the word and with Him.

I just finished digging through Exodus, which took me a long time. Honestly, I still don't understand how all the exact materials used and their significance to the tabernacle within or even if I am on the right track; I am going to move forward, though, trusting His revealing as and how He sees fit. I definitely see moses as a type of Christ, seeing the parallels between the two.

While my teacher is He, I welcome advice, from you well studied, when digging into Leviticus.

Thank you and God Bless..:)
I remember as a teeny-weeny baby Christian (in jail), I was determined to go through the whole Bible starting in Genesis. I believe my camel died somewhere in the desert sands of Leviticus...I gave up trying to follow every detail...but it was there when God comforted me with the reminder, 'that's why my Son died'.

Make sure you do not stress yourself out by overthinking too much for you can always go over it again.

I go over something briefly, and then move on, for if you are not getting anywhere with it as far as understanding more than you read, or very little, it is good to let off and come back to it later.

But I have always been one that liked to move around a lot mentally, although not too fast for I do not have ADD, but I do this on purpose, for it keeps my mind fresh, and not any stress, and I do not over think things, for some things can be easy to understand, but we think there is more to it.

And it will come all more in to place when you read more of the Bible as you go through it, but when you do it is great for then you understand the bigger picture of things.

When I first read the Bible I did not study it too much, but went through it and took it as it was and moved on, for like I said we can always go through it again, for it is not going anywhere for it is God's word.

And then I came back later and read it again when I had more knowledge of the complete Bible, and things fell in to place more, and can study a little bit better.

But like a biologist, or a doctor, or anybody else that has a job that is on a learning level, that know so much about their field after years of being in it that they can deduce problems, and take away things they thought might work, for they were false, or add, for they were true, that is how it will be when you know enough of the Bible, for you can be able to discern it better and weed out the falsehood, and keep the truth.

For when you first read the Bible you might have an interpretation you thought was correct, until you read it more and found out it cannot be true, for in another place it contradicts it, where people that barely read, or skip around, might have some things off.

And a lot of people go by their Church denomination as they lay the framework for them, and believe that, and see scriptures that way, which I think it is best for us to read it without outside information from people first, for I think there is a better chance of people coming to the truth of the Bible in all areas, although we should still go to Church.

But be like the Bareans they were more noble than those in Thessalonia for they heard the word of God with all readiness of mind, and then searched the scriptures to find out if it is true.

Also some people have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, which this has more to do with them not acting Christlike, but think they are right with God, so they do not let go of all the ways of the flesh, so they are not led of the Spirit.

So hate sin, and do not want sin, for then you will be led of the Spirit, which is a benefit for the Spirit will guide us in to all truth, and show us things to come, and we need not that any man teach us, but the Spirit will teach, although we still want to hear the preaching of the word of God.

Which millions of people who claim Christ do not hate sin like they should, and engage in it, and hold unto sin, and think they are alright God, and contrary to what they believe they cannot be led of the Spirit that way.

So there is a lot of jumbling of the interpretation of God's word among many people, as many are not led of the Spirit, and can be biased in their interpretation as the flesh wants to hear it a certain way, or they cannot come to the truth.

I understand the end times greatly, and why, and how it will happen, but Numbers, and Leviticus, I have not studied that much, but breezed through it so to speak for it was not that fast, although I know the basics of it, but there is many who would know about it more in detail than me, and I might have missed some things, although not salvation threatened, and I do not want to say it is because it is boring because it is the word of God, but we might study some things more than others, which is why the Bible says when the saints come together they all have something to contribute to give the congregation a better understanding of the Bible, and to edify them more spiritually.

But like I said I did not try to study too much, but read through it and took it as it was, and then when I read through the Bible then I studied a little more, and some things are plainer to comprehend at the first then others, which I think a lot of people do not know much about Exodus, and Leviticus, as other books, for they do not pay attention to it as much as the other books.

But I am sure many were interested in the Exodus itself with Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt, and that was an easy one to understand.

The tabernacle was a bit more to take in though. Hey Brother, my dad was a Pentecostal preacher so like you said, I am relearning things differently. I am now nondenominational.

You know, Brother Matt, I thought that I was going to learn biblical tips on this thread, and I did some, but what is hitting home greatly is to just breath and just keep reading it without trying to get it ALL figured out. Something, I need to get in my noggin, fixing my heart on Him, not on "knowing" all the word. Learning is fun and the word is the joy and rejoicing of my heart for I was called by the Lord of Hosts Jer 15:16...my all time fav verse... ok one of them.

Wow, I can’t type all that but that’s very informative. Let me say first that life started with the Jews and it will end with them. They were given the law by God and strictly, then came Jesus! Amen! We are to trust and obey God through his son. Leviticus has many great words and Should be an example of how we live our lives, but it’s all about Jesus!
Ultimately it has nothing at all to do with Jewish flesh or the flesh of any nation.

The Jews were used in parables up until the time of reformation and then cut off. They were used to represent the new creation as well as the old . Inward Jews in respect to the new creature "spiritual man" .Outward Jew natural "unconverted man" .

The time of reformation came over two thousand years ago.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.1 Corinthians 2:14-16

@CharliRenee Hello Sister!

I love your attitude, we should all learn from it, truly a blessing to this chat. No wonder they hired you for the staff!

Happy to see you are studying Leviticus, ITS A GREAT BOOK OF THE BIBLE! Often over looked by people saying "oh thats just the OT". Little do they know, the teaching to LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR comes from the book of Leviticus, quoted by Jesus, the same book where all the stuff about stoning people is. (Lev 19:18 says love thy neighbour as thyself!)

The Apostles and Jesus Himself quotes the OT all the time. Paul tells the gentile churches these are written for our learning as an example.

Of great importance.

Sorry I went on a rabbit trail. Im a trailblazer, i ride horseback, been riding horses since forever! Somebody has to travel the trail. hahahaha.
Now to the topic at hand:

Here is something I want you to pay attention to @CharliRenee , if it hasnt been said yet:

The FEASTS are all fulfilled by Christ. Spring feasts fulfilled, fall feasts TO BE fulfilled!

Here is a short summary for you:

Passover -> Points to the sacrifice of Jesus as the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world [Fulfilled]
Feast of unleavened bread -> Points to Jesus' sinless life. NO LEAVEN! [Fulfilled]
The First Fruits -> Jesus being the first fruit from the dead, points to the resurrection of the Messiah! [Fulfilled]
Pentecost -> Fulfilled at the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts chapter 2 [Fulfilled]
Feast of Trumpets -> Resurrection, at the last trump as per 1 Corinthians 15:51-52! [To be fulfilled]
Day of Atonement -> When the remnant of Israel repents and turns to Christ at the second coming [To be fulfilled]
Feast of booths -> The millennium (or new heaven and earth if you're amill) where God dwells among His people [To be fulfilled]

You can find all these feats in Leviticus CHAPTER 23!

Hope this helps. God bless you in your studies and may the Holy Spirit grant you WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING!

I think Leviticus is one of the hardest books in the bible. I remember starting the bible and getting through Genesis and Exodus but then stalling out in Leviticus.

This happened probably 4-5 times before I finally got through it. I fell asleep several times while reading it.

Genesis and Exodus are exciting because they are like a story unfolding. Leviticus is like a book of facts. LIke reading the encyclopedia or the dictionary.

But I remember there are some absolute GEMS in Leviticus that aren't in any other book. I remember wondering why blood was such a big deal to God and I found my answer in Leviticus.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

I've read the bible from Genesis to Revelation, in order, about 5-6 times. Its probably about time to do it again... I kind of feel like I might be a little rusty... I hope I don't fall asleep in Leviticus... I remember 1&2 Chronicles being kind of difficult too.

Wow, this has me excited. I will admit, I am dragging my feet, really getting in. It is a lot. But in listening to much insights, two things surface, ok three

1. Breath...take mental note but keep reading. Don't over interpret or analyze. Keep my heart fixed and praise His Holy name.

2. There is edifying things to learn and all of it points to Christ, even when I don't yet understand or know enough to organize in my head.

3. God has blessed me greatly with merciful and biblically savvy Brothers and Sisters in Christ here online. I am so thankful, even if I don't always know or agree with everything, you all are eager to help one another out, for the most part.

Brother Hevosmies, you are so kind. I am grinning, inside and out, as it is fun to be on the receiving end of your engagement BUT you give me far too much credit, though, lol. I am the way I am because I am fully aware of how much mercy He has given me. What a broken mess, I was and sometimes am, when I forget to whom I belong. Glory be to God!!! I am just another volunteer here, who so wanted the privilege of getting to help in any small way. I appreciate your encouragement, and the way you communicate, and this info about Leviticus. You clearly, have been digging in the word for a long time. I feel less intimidated about going in today than yesterday.

I am very grateful. God is so good and with Him we are eternally blessed. One day at a time.

Love in Christ to you, Brother. God Bless. Thanks again.

Oh BTW, horses are the AMAZING creatures of God, trailblazer. Them and nature are a great place to go. Rabbit holes, dang them. They hunt me down or me them, it seems, haha

Ok, great feedback, reminding me, just read it, keep going. It seems like a lot of drudgery but I am not going in alone. How fun it must be to have read through the bible that many times. You must have a broader, in its entirety perspective, thus finding harmony, within the scriptures, finding Him and His revealing has got to be so rewarding. My dad was a Pentecostal preacher/evangelist but I never was brave enough to take the old testament on, one on one. He thankfully had a different plan in mind.

Well enogh procrastinating. I am going in, taking it just a bit at a time.

Thanks Grandpa, much appreciated!!! God Bless you and yours.

hmm,
Jeremiah 31:35-37 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

I had been busted with drugs, but it was a time also when the Lord was drawing me to Him. So the day I was busted was 30 days before my Court hearing which was the day after I had publickly gone forward in Church (Mar 17, 1974). Even when they were booking me the night I was busted I emptied out a New Testament from my pocket.
Most conversion periods (mine lasted 15 months) are not very clean cut and mine was no different. But since Mar 17, 1974, I never looked back.
I have written about it here awhile ago... https://christianchat.com/testimonies/my-conversion-over-a-15-month-period-in-rough-form.113862/

Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
The seed of "Israel" a word that means one who wrestles with God and man and overcomes, is Christ, singular (the spiritual seed.) Not all Israel do wrestle with God and man and overcome. Some deny his very existence. They are used to represent a unbeliever of any nation.

Wherefore henceforth
know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.2 Corinthians 5:16-17

As new creatures we are to know no man or woman after the flesh. Even though some did know the Son of man Jesus we know him that way no more forever more. God is not a man as us. Never was never could be.

God has no beginning of Spirit life or end thereof. The one time outward demonstration ended over two thousand years ago. he is the lamb of God slain from before the foundation of the world. He rested on the 7th .

The seed of "Israel" a word that means one who wrestles with God and man and overcomes, is Christ, singular (the spiritual seed.) Not all Israel do wrestle with God and man and overcome. Some deny his very existence. They are used to represent a unbeliever of any nation.

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

I guess you have no more family reunions with grandma and uncle Joe? (after the flesh)
Read the context 2Cor 5:16. It is speaking of our new perspective and understanding as born again believers. It is not referring to Israel and God's ongoing purpose with the Jews.

Jeremiah also mentions in that same verse.. "I will also cast off all the seed of Israel" ...does that mean God will cast off His Son, according to your above interpretation? Again in context God is using Israel as the nation of His chosen people.

Speaking to the Gentiles (yes Gentiles...Paul must have forgotten that quote you mentioned in 2Cor 5) Paul wrote to remind them about their attitude toward the Jews (but I thought there wasn't suppose to be that distinction) this...

Romans 11:25-26 (KJV) For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Oh surely blindness hasn't happened to Jesus!!

(Sorry, but I have little patience for Replacement Theology or any variant of it.)
