Not to be self-centered...but, how do you be yourself when posting threads?

I don't know a lot of people here, so I may not get as much response as others...
Anyone had the feeling of being unpopular here on CC?

(This should be interesting and have a little fun)

You want honesty? lol oh boy well here it goes... I'm going to be where I feel the Holy Spirit tells me to be at. My personality I don't need attention. I don't need to feel popular. If I think I'm wanted here, I'll stay, if not I'll spend my time elsewhere. I've learned in life not everyone is going to like you, be with those that do or ones that want to grow with you. Please, don't think I don't care... I do care about people and sharing God's love with others. I just don't feel the need to be popular if that makes sense. I love you all with the love of the Lord!

Hi Gracie, interesting subject!

Hmm... I don't know about "popular" -- personally, I tend to think of myself as a troll who's built a campfire under the bridge and just won't leave. :)

Seriously, I think my definition of what "popular" means has definitely changed over the years. To me, popular could have many definitions, but in the case of a forum like this, I tend to think of "popular" as just meaning that several people recognize your posts and possibly personality and writing style because you've spent a lot of time putting yourself out there.

There are always drawbacks, too. The more people that are familiar with your posts, the more criticism you're likely going to get, so there can be a few unexpected side effects.

Before CC changed to this format, there was an option that some people believed they could use to send any kind of comment they wanted to someone anonymously (but the mods could see who it was), which unfortunately led to some abusive situations.

The more people read your posts, the more vocal they might be about how you should post, what you should post, and whether or not you should even be posting.

My favorite thing about CC is when I can find good-natured people whom I can joke and banter with, and when I find someone like that, I tend to keep cracking jokes directed towards them because I know they're not going to blow up about it. This has often led to people accusing me of trying to form cliques, because I keep going back to the same people.

In truth, there are lots of people I see on the forum and want to get to know better/start joking with, but I don't know them as well so I don't say anything because I don't want to risk offending them.

It's awesome to find people you can laugh, joke, and talk with, but (and this might just be me), it takes A LOT of work (the friendships I've been blessed to make here have taken many years and many well-spent hours of communication), and a lot of bracing yourself for the times when you get blasted, which is pretty much inevitable as more people see more of your posts.

Hmm... am I popular here on the forum?

Well there are a few people who have blocked me, put me on ignore.

There are also some people who "follow" me, so I guess they get notified when I make a post.

My positive reactions list outweighs the negative reactions people have given me... but there are a lot more positive than negative reactions to choose from in the reactions list.

I have no idea.

Shows what you know. A real troll would never build a campfire. Real trolls love damp, cold, clammy environments.

Hmmm.... this is one of those things I try not to dwell on too much. I don’t know what other people are thinking about me. My default mode is also lurker usually, and I don’t like feeling like there is much attention on me.

People may not know me too well, but I also may not be presenting many opportunities to let them get to know me. Or I don’t reach out for fear of annoying others I guess.

Guess being able to hide behind text doesn’t cure shyness.

Now listen here, you troll troll-er, you.

Even us professional trolls still like to have a warm place to come home to.

Plus, I have a penchant for roasting marshmallows.

What does a troll do in their off time?

I’m new so I don’t really know many or most of you here. I also tend to be on the quiet/private/shy side so yup I don’t feel overly popular. Not in a bad way.

Add to that the fact that of the Catholic faith. I’m not seeing very many Catholics here.

Always great to see you !!

That's totally understandable for a new member :) And yes, I'm not sure if they are many Catholics here... :)

Thanks for dropping by, Elle! :)

Yeah, I see you joke around with quite a few fellow peeps here and it's quite jealous-provoking...:sneaky:

I mean, you actually seem to have close friends that know who you are and can actually relate to you...which is awesome.

Well doggone it, Hamarr. You caught us green-handed.

Unfortunately, trolling is only a part-time gig.

The rest of the time, we're telemarketers.

#NoLove. 😥
