OK, here's a perfect example.
My father dies last fall and joined my mom in ... well, I honestly don't know where they ended up. They claimed to be Christian but from what they allowed in their home I have to question mark that. Distributions have come from their modest estate. Frankly, the money is nice, but I would have given up every single penny to see my dad stand up and show some respect for himself and his household. But I digress.
We decided that we would donate $10k of the inheritance to various charities. Between Dec 15 and Jan 12, we gave $7500 to 9 charities, including $2500 to a local Bible Camp.
Only 2 of those 9 groups have acknowledged receiving the donation. Of the paper checks we sent out, only one has been cashed (and we handed the envelope to a few of them personally so you can't say they didn't receive it). The Bible Camp cashed theirs (they are the only one) but as far acknowledging, it's nothin' but crickets. And I don't expect fanfare, God says to give in secret so that He may give the reward instead of it coming from men. But I shouldn't have to check with the bank to see if they actually received it (that one was mailed), especially when you are talking about that amount.
So, here we have God telling us to be charitable and giving people, I am trying to be just that, and yet apparently 7 these 9 groups don't want our gift.
Once again, I try to be what God asks me to be, and do what He asks me to do, and once again the effort is stymied, stonewalled, and as irrelevant as humanly possible.
Screw it. I'm taking the remaining $2500 and heading for Vegas.
