Does entering into Jesus' rest mean we're to give up the Sabbath day? Is the 4th commandment part of the moral law of God?

I think keeping the Sabbath is important. The Sabbath is made for man and not the other way around. Its not about salvation through it but giving yur body rest. Jesus kept the sabbath.

Exactly! And this is what Hebrews four discloses. Cease from our own works; rest from our physical labors for one full day.

There remaineth therefore a rest (Sabbath keeping) to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest (the Gospel), he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

How doe we cease from our own works?

As GOD did from HIS. That is the REST we are to enter. HE stopped working on the Seventh Day. So we stop working on the Seventh Day. That is how GOD did from HIS. He did not cease doing HIS own works of righteousness. Which is the common interpretation of these text. He is our righteousness through Faith; through Christ. He is Holy and so are we through the Gospel Rest.

HE STOPPED WORKING ON THE SEVENTH DAY. Plain and simple. So we stop working, and because we now stand in the righteousness of Christ through Faith we honor HIM by doing those things that are pleasing to HIS sight

It was blotting out of the handwriting to the ordinances that were against us. Not the ordinances themselves but the handwriting to them when we broke them. They were them that were against us. Not the ones that point out what sin is and was. The Decalogue and those ordinances contained in the handwriting (the Book of the Law) that showed us what sin is now written in our hearts, minds and mouths.

Herein is my Father glorified, that we bear much fruit through this Sanctification. So Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ, the Word, all that GOD would have us be. HIS Commandments down from above) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ, (the Word, all that GOD would have us be. HIS Commandments again from the dead.) But what saith it? Romans 10:6-8 and Deut. 30:11-14 Sept. are speaking the same premise as of that which is found Hebrews 8:10,11 and Jeremiah 31:33. It is just worded different. The Gospel, the New Covenant, GOD's Grace.

Hi, I'm studying to shew myself approved unto God and I'm not certain as to whether the rest that still "remaineth therefore...to the people of God" (Heb. 4:9)--written to the Hebrews who were keeping the Sabbath day--was meant to say that they would have "another" rest as in "in addition" ("For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterwards have spoken of another day" - Heb. 4:8) or "another" as in "a different."

...Like if someone gave you one apple and then said, "I'm going to give you 'another' apple, and then they handed you a second apple ("another" apple), or if someone handed you one apple and then said, "I'm going to give you 'another' apple," and then took the original apple they gave you and then give you a different apple instead ("another apple"). If you don’t have to go to work so be it, but if you have to go to work so be it...

GOD is the Judge, not us. What we determine as a "have to" is not our guide. GOD through Christ is.

And HE is not subject to our every whim and desire we are to be to HIS. Most get caught up in what they want rather than what GOD through Christ has dictated as the path we are to chose. We have a standard and that standard is the Word of GOD. So if we are moved in judgement outside of what is written in the Holy Writ. Chances are the spirit that is prodding is not HIS.

No mention of the Sabbath in them verses. If Paul had meant the Sabbath He would of mentioned it specifically. He did not. To assert that He did is to add to scripture.

No one said anything about an requirement. The issue is living in sin. If one WILLFULLY lives in sin they are not in Christ and or are grieving the Spirit.

The point being, we are like specks of dust, smaller even than the tiny atom compared to the might and power of Almighty God. There is nothing we can do to earn our salvation, it is a gift of God. All that is required of us, is that we trust and believe in the saving work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Regardless of what we do, we cannot earn our salvation. This is why we trust in HIS finished work, who like the Father rested after the work was done. Keeping one day special gives us physical rest, but spiritually we can be in torment. What we need is spiritual rest, and that rest comes when we let go of our own works and trust in His redeeming work. This letting go of our troubles and cares can only be done if we cast them upon Him. Here Lord take them all, said Pilgrim. The Bible says, Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for HE careth for you. (1Pe 5:6-7) This way we have our rest in Him, every day of the week.

I never kept the Sabbath before I was a Christian to give it up.

Not even unbelievers like working 7 days a week. We know it's unhealthy for us, some people of certain cultures do and their lives are terrible.

I know some who go so far as to not even cook on the 'sabbath' so they put an extra burden on one day effectively making themselves slaves to the Sabbath. As Jesus said, Sabbath is for man, not man for the Sabbath.
But hey, if you're choosing that to honour God, im happy with that.

Well it has happened right here in Florida and they open the doors on both sides of the church and let air come through even though it is Florida hot air....and apologize for the broken air conditioner...

Even Jesus said if your ox is in the ditch that they would get it out on the Sabbath day so the animal wouldn't suffer. We understand that Doctors, Nurses and service personnel have to work to take care of the sick and in case of emergency or human suffering needing help. No matter what day of the week it is.
