The Book of James, is in the end, comparing “real faith” vs words only, it’s not about losing what one never had.

I think many confuse “rewards” or lack thereof with eternal life with Christ. Didn’t even Jesus say, some will be called great in Heaven and some the least.”

I think a thorough understanding of what grace really means, is the crux of the issue.

I keep in touch with her often,whenever she just needs to chat. Sometimes one just needs a listening ear.

I have friends that are OSAS. Several actually. Though I don't believe as they do we have wonderful fellowship. You see I do not believe you can lose your salvation. But I do believe you can walk away from it. I do not believe if you fail,as we all do,slip and sin that you are going to hell. But I do believe if you walk away and choose to continually live a sinful lifestyle that you are lost as any other sinner until you repent.

Clearly my pastor friend was saved,clearly he chose to walk away from God's grace. He put his hand to the plough but turned back. He is lost in sin unless.and I pray he does, he repents and turns from his sin.

Dont know. Never met him.

But there is a verse that says: They went out from us, but they were not of us.

Im sure many believed Judas was truly regenerate and saved while he was doing all the things the other apostles were doing.

Perseverence of the saints DOES NOT mean sinless perfection......

Why does it always have to be extreme? Either you are the devil in the flesh, always sinning every minute of every day OR you never sin and are perfect and you dont even need Jesus?

I don’t even believe in sinless anything, how could I accuse you of it....my follow up question was.....if you do sin, you are a sinner....correct?

I,ll let others answer thst question. Anyway, if you have saved by the grace of God by faith in the gospel, i'll consider you as brother in the Lord. You are only somehow going to a hype view dispensatinalism. I too, studies clarence book and other dispy.

I’m no interrogator...and no, I definitely do not judge others

I guess the thing I don’t understand is.....if you confess your sins every time you sin and use 1 John 1:9 to support it..the scripture says he will cleanse us from “all” unrighteousness, how many times can we be cleansed of “all” unrighteousness? When i think of Christ, on the cross, who died for all sin, past present, and future......is this not the same? All unrighteousness?

My understanding of 1 Jn. 1:9 is that if we confess our “known” sins, it’s really good to keep a short list so one may remember easily. The “all unrighteousness “ part seems to be speaking of sins we may not remember, or even be aware of.
That confession is for us, not God, it’s good for the soul to “admit” our shortcomings, and do our best to not repeat them.

All scripture should be studied, and applied where appropriate....you guys are missing my point....the gospels were not written for you directly, applying them or teaching anyone to do so, only creates confusion....obviously much of what Jesus was teaching can be applied to all of us and should be....but according to the finished work of the cross, you will greatly confuse a babe in Christ if not carefully applied

In the gospel of John it says that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. Perhaps you might want this to apply for you but I thank God that it applies to me. It also says in the same book that God is love. I'm glad that applies to me as well.
