I hear SDA do not believe eternal hell
Hell is eternal in that the wicked will be destroyed and sin will never rise again. Throughout all eternity there will never be another wicked person they will cease to exist and are eternally lost, gone never to live again.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed with eternal fire but if you go to the location today there is no fire why? Because when the fuel is burned up the fire ceases but it is eternally gone forever as Sodom and Gomorrah do not exist today...

Hmm ok the OP didnt come back to answer my question maybe they didnt have time to explain who is ellen g white and what the origins of sda is.

I dont think they will answer it, as nobody else has either.
I think I'd give them a chance after all it is Christmas and anyone in their right mind would probably be spending time celebrating the holiday with their family or attending a church service somewhere rather than living on the computer waiting to answer questions and they have only been a member since Monday so a little slack would probably be in order... just sayin...

Yup they believe in annihilationism.

Atheist's dream come true.

So lucky for all of us who dont join the SDA cult or obey their teachings, there is no hell to pay :)

The Bible does say that every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord... Can you imagine when someone who has not accepted Jesus as their savior are called on to bow before the Lord and they realize that the sin they committed has caused them eternal separation from God the remorse and regret they feel knowing they are wrong and now they are bowing before God knowing they can never change their mind and accept Gods gift of salvation for them? How they would feel at that very moment...? Can you even imagine?

Then the fire comes down from heaven and they are burning some longer than others because now they are paying the wages of the sin they have committed and as they burn up they die because the wages of sin is death not eternal burning. But they are eternally separated from God never to live again because they took on their sins instead of letting Jesus pay the price for their sins.... Satan will burn the longest and then sin and death are thrown into the lake of fire....

But those who accepted Jesus gift of salvation live eternally with God because God now dwells with us in the earth made new because John said he saw a new heaven and a new earth the former things had passed away..... for the redeemed what a glorious day that will be.

Uh...ok, just wondering..time goes by fast! I hope they having a merry christmas SDAS celebrate it dont they its not same as jws who dont.

I dont know many SDAs personally, so..dont have anyone to ask, but I have to say I have had shall I say questionable experiences with them, and the issue has either been sabbath keeping or eating pork, well I dont know what they do if Christmas falls on a Saturday and christmas ham is offered on the menu.

Curious here...........not arguing for or against this belief, but, as I understand it, the tares/sinners will be consumed by fire and cease to exist for eternity........seems to me they are paying for their denial of Christ/God, and doing so for all eternity...........

Also, what does this particular belief have to do with salvation? I do not see the connection. I have never given much thought to this particular belief, nor to eternal fire/punishment.........mainly because I know where I will be, and I focus on that........keeping my eyes on Jesus. Still, I do not see how this belief has anything to do with salvation. Some folks believe water baptism is required for salvation, others believe in predestination, and others in works salvation, and others in OSAS, and others that women are not allowed to be Pastors, and others in keeping the Saturday Sabbath, and others that if you aren't baptized in their church, you are not saved, some deny the Trinity, and others in.............well, point made I suspect.

:)

There are some beliefs of the SDA's that I disagree with, but this particular one does not seem all that important to me, at least not to condemn anyone for believing it.

my thoughts

9.....The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ .... In Christ’s life of perfect obedience to God’s will, His suffering, death, and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin, so that those who by faith accept this atonement may have eternal life, and the whole creation may better understand the infinite and holy love of the Creator. This perfect atonement vindicates the righteousness of God’s law and the graciousness of His character; for it both condemns our sin and provides for our forgiveness. The death of Christ is substitutionary and expiatory, reconciling and transforming. The bodily resurrection of Christ proclaims God’s triumph over the forces of evil, and for those who accept the atonement assures their final victory over sin and death. It declares the Lordship of Jesus Christ, before whom every knee in heaven and on earth will bow. (Gen. 3:15; Ps. 22:1; Isa. 53; John 3:16; 14:30; Rom. 1:4; 3:25; 4:25; 8:3, 4; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4, 20-22; 2 Cor. 5:14, 15, 19-21; Phil. 2:6-11; Col. 2:15; 1 Peter 2:21, 22; 1 John 2:2; 4:10.)
10.....The Experience of Salvation..... In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in Him we might be made the righteousness of God. Led by the Holy Spirit we sense our need, acknowledge our sinfulness, repent of our transgressions, and exercise faith in Jesus as Saviour and Lord, Substitute and Example. This saving faith comes through the divine power of the Word and is the gift of God’s grace. Through Christ we are justified, adopted as God’s sons and daughters, and delivered from the lordship of sin. Through the Spirit we are born again and sanctified; the Spirit renews our minds, writes God’s law of love in our hearts, and we are given the power to live a holy life. Abiding in Him we become partakers of the divine nature and have the assurance of salvation now and in the judgment. (Gen. 3:15; Isa. 45:22; 53; Jer. 31:31-34; Ezek. 33:11; 36:25-27; Hab. 2:4; Mark 9:23, 24; John 3:3-8, 16; 16:8; Rom. 3:21-26; 8:1-4, 14-17; 5:6-10; 10:17; 12:2; 2 Cor. 5:17-21; Gal. 1:4; 3:13, 14, 26; 4:4-7; Eph. 2:4-10; Col. 1:13, 14; Titus 3:3-7; Heb. 8:7-12; 1 Peter 1:23; 2:21, 22; 2 Peter 1:3, 4; Rev. 13:8.)

If these are 2 of the fundamental beliefs of the SDA church it sounds like righteousness by faith alone.
hmm...

From a Seventh-day Adventist Tract:

“Christ says to every man in this world what He said to the rich young ruler: ‘If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments,’ Matthew 19:17. In other words, the standard for admission into heaven is a character built according to the ten specification, or commandments, of God's Law... The master builder will stand with you and in you, and see to it personally that your life comes up to the requirements of God's Law (Charles Everson, Saved by Grace, pp. 45-46).

From a Seventh-day Adventist Correspondence course:

“Do you want to be a Christian?... The steps to Christ are few and plain and easy to understand, and we will turn to God’s Guidebook now for information. ... Believe; that’s the first step toward becoming a Christian. ... the second step is repentance ... repentance is simply being sorry for our sins and putting them away ... the next step in becoming a Christian is confession ... real repentance and confession mean not only to stop sinning, but to do everything possible to make past wrongs right ... The next step is baptism, and the proof for that is found in Acts 2:38-39 ... Fifth, obedience through Christ in us ... So we have clearly outlined the steps that we need to take in 9 order to become a Christian: to believe in God, to repent of and to confess our sins, to be baptized, AND TO OBEY ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD. ... He may stumble and fall, but he gets up and presses forward again, determined to overcome by God’s enabling power. Such a fall is not counted against him when he repents and asks forgiveness and divine help to live the right life” (New Life Voice of Prophecy Guide, #12).

That does not sound like righteousness by faith alone, but salvation by "grace plus law, faith plus works." :cautious:

It could very well be but no one really knows for sure. There is nothing wrong however in warning people about the mark of the beast that will occur in the end-times, that your two choices are to renounce Jesus Christ and receive the mark or you die and watch your love ones die as well. It is odd though that those churches that hold to Sunday worship that is based on the tradition of the Catholic Church and yet at the same time preach about how evil that church is and that snone of its members are Christian.
Its not a Catholic tradition. It comes from mistranslation of the word Sabbath. Which is not a time sensitive word as if it was not subject to change. The word sabbath is not the same as the word seven or week which is translated in a few places . Mathew 28 is introducing the new era of sabbaths the first day of the week. The day God said let there be light. This was without the sun. You could say as children of light.

It is in respect to the ceremonial rest. The Hebrew word sabbath and not the literal rest from our own works we do receive when mixing faith in what we do hear and therefore not hardening our hearts .

The Youngs literal gives us the proper rendering in Mathew 28.

One the eve YLT, compared to in the end KJ. First of the new sabbaths, compared to first day of the week.

The word Sabbath also seems to be plural. King James singular

Matthew 28 Young's Literal Translation (YLT)And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulcher,

Matthew 28 King James Version (KJV) 28 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.

Regardless of which denomination, some like to obey the Lord because they Love Him. The Sabbath was made Holy before sin and before Israel was a nation, God gave it to mankind because He loved us.(All Mankind)
Why do you choose to not steal or not kill other people? Why do you choose to obey the command to not take the Lords name in vain. Can I choose to obey the Sabbath for the same reason?
Psa_119:97 MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Psa_119:113 SAMECH. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
Psa_119:163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.
Psa_119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
So are you saying those who go to church on sunday do not love god? (It is my view. That the sabbath church day is not biblical, The NT went to church or met together often. Many maybe even daily. Not judt on one day)

I can obey the sabbath yuet still go to church on Sunday can I not?

I want to note.

What church or denomination you go to does not determin your eternal destination. Your faith (or lack of) in the one true gospel is what determines that.

Perhaps so but one must pray for discernment to separate the wheat from the chaff. We have all been lied to by what others have said in regards to all truth in scripture but the lie that was told was not intentional but based on what their stage of spiritual growth was at the time.

A lot of members on this site bash different types of denominations, especially Catholic and SDA but are unwilling to state publicly what their own church affiliation is, if any.

I have been quite open in numerous posts in discussing what churches I have attended, perceived flaws in such churches along with that which I believe to spiritually sound. It would be most refreshing to have other members state what church they attend, and what practices and doctrines they may agree or disagree with. Of course, please be advised that if a member choses to discuss openly about what church they attend they will certainly leave themselves vulnerable to attack and ridicule.

As I have stated previously, more than once, I don't believe that there is a single church that is spiritually sound in all aspects of their practice and doctrine. We are all human after all working out our salvation in fear and trembling as stated by Paul in scripture. In the bible in the first chapter of the book of Isaiah God says, "Come now, and let us reason together...line upon line, precept upon precept. A little here, a little there."

Based on my 4 1/2 years as a member of this site I would say that there is very little of that in the BDF. For the part I may have played in sowing seeds of discord I humbly apologize and with the grace of God strive to do better in the future.
I agree, I have yet to find a perfect church.

I know many good true gospel churches. That miss so many other doctrines. and sadly many false gospel churches. That have parts that true gospel churches are missing.

I was raised in the Roman Catholic church and purgatory is a distorted view on the justice of God and a disgraceful fabrication that robs Jesus Christ of His glory. He alone satisfied divine justice, once and for all, through His finished work of redemption. (Romans 3:24-28) Purgatory denies the sufficiency of Christ's atonement for sin on the cross. It's one of Satan's many lies which keeps Catholics from knowing and trusting in the sufficiency of Jesus Christ alone.
The way I look at it is this

If after death we wake up in the after life and realise ther really is on. NO ONE WOULD DENY CHRIST.

God is not going to be mocked. We have this lifetime..

I hate to bring this up on Christmas, but I don't think Dan should be questioning others.

Mail of the Beast:

Rev 13:16-17
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive the mail in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mail, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 16:2
And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mail of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
Rev 19:20
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mail of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

It's too late for Dan.

The rest of you... be warned.

...
So you just condemned Dan?

Wow. So now your playing God. way to go man.

It means anything else you said in this post means nothing,

Everlasting punishment just means it is permanent, not taking forever to bring about.
Wrong, It means it is lasting forever. If it ends by a person ceasing to exist. Then it is not everlasting. Remember, Hell or whatever people want to call it was not made for man, it was made for Angels who fell.. Who are eternal creatures. Those men and women who follow them suffer their fate

Yeah, I remember attending weekly Catechism classes and those mean anal nuns striking my wrist with a ruler. I thought those instances were comical at the time and still do. I always enjoyed lighting candles in church because that was the one time that I was allowed to play with matches.

I had to finally leave the Catholic church because I found most of the core principals to be contrary to scripture. My mother, who is a deeply spiritual woman who loves Jesus and is a born-again believer, still attends weekly mass. She don't agree with everything the church professes either. Growing up I have argued many times with her about the church but that only hurt her deeply and only served to erode her true faith in trusting on the shed blood of Jesus dying on the cross for her sins. I don't question my mother's faith anymore, especially since her faith in spiritual matters of the Lord is much stronger than mine despite her remaining a life-long Catholic.
Talk about living a double life.. I cannot see how any born again Bible believing person could remain in the catholic church.. I could not stay there..

Oh and yeah i went to a nunnery primary school and a Marist brothers High school / College So i know all about those weird nuns .. The brothers where no so bad..

Seems there are a lot of people who believe that people who end up in the Lake of fire will be annihilated..

But the Bible declares::

Revelation 20: KJV
10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."

So for a Bible believer the doctrine of annihilation cannot be an option..

Has anyone noticed a pattern where many of the guys promoting works salvation deny eternal hell? Or lake of fire, or gehenna, or whatever you want to call it

JWs, SDAs, hebrew roots, etc etc.

I believe it makes sense, think about it: If you believe in annihilationism you could make salvation as difficult as you like, because what are you saved from? Non-existance? Permanent state of unconsciousness? Oh boy im shaking in me boots right now

The hellfire and brimstone preachers tend to be much more grace oriented. WHICH IS IRONIC to say the least, since these men are always called un-loving. While the works-salvationists' fake nice humbleness is read as loving by the public, not noticing they are condemning you.
