Hi saints, Potter here just wanted to share a teaching I heard yesterday that touched my heart deeply. May God be praised if it answers and touches yours.

Question always asked why a loving God allows evil in this world is answered with this question.

Do you think that if you could take all the hurt from a child or loved one and never let them suffer any loss, discouragement, frustration, lonelyness, grief, hurt, or sickness that they would grow up normal? Would they have compassion? Would they learn to love?
The Lord can rebuke any storm on the horizon. But sometimes he wants to bring us threw it. He wants to touch our hearts to soften them to mold and shape us. Sometimes he needs to break us so he can mend us.
As Jesus came to suffer on the cross he also was tempted as we are. To be bitter, angry, discouraged, lonely, rejected, hated. If God did not spare his son should you be spared?
That's what it means to pick up your cross and follow daily. Jesus knows how hard it is. How our emotions get the best of us. How weak we really are.
In this world you will suffer many tribulations but be of good cheer I have over come this world.
For the glory that was set before him he endured the cross. What are you looking at?

Some "storms" take our lives. I'm battling cancer right now. If cancer takes my life, I hope to stand before Him having never stopped being faithful to my Savior in the storm. If I survive through the storm, I hope to use the experience to give Him glory here on earth the rest of my life.

I prayed for you. I pray God heals your cancer. I hope you stay strong. How are you feeling? I couldn't imagine dealing with something like that. You are strong to still be typing here

I'm doing quite well so far. I've had 2 different types of treatment over the past year but none have worked that well, although the treatments have kept it from spreading to other parts of my body. Thanks for praying. I believe in the power of prayer.

Praying for you as my mum facing cancer too. So many people. Its satans work he started it as his only goal is to steal kill and destroy. GOd had created the earth and it was all good, until the serpent ruined it. GOd had told adam and eve that they could eat from any tree except the tree of know, edge of good and evil because if they did that, they would die. It was poison! Well the serpent tricked eve. So right down to this day, many are tricked into eating poison, forbidden fruit thas bad for us. And it gets in everything, we are all exposed in this fallen world. Thankfully we have a saviour who has the antidote.

I also am a cancer survivor. :) Don't EVER refer to yourself as a victim. I hate that word. I hope your doctors will find the right treatment that works best for you.

potters............. how does the OP match up with Scripture saying we will never be tempted by God?

Do trials./tribulations come because we live in a fallen creation, and stuff happens........? Rather than God doing things to us? Just wondering...........

Take Agent Orange for example............ was it God who exposed so many of our Soldiers to this toxic chemical, or our Government? You probably know what has been happening to those exposed, and how many have lost their lives because of their exposure, so no need to stress that point.

I fully believe and agree that God will be faithful to see us through our trials...........if we remain faithful to Him.
I know that were it not for Him, I would not be here right now and would never have survived the last 31 months...... Praise God!

But, I do not believe God did to me what was done, He has, however, stood by me, carried me, comforted me, and counseled me through the Holy Spirit, and caused me to be strong enough to accept what happened and refuse to surrender to it.

I put you on my prayer list John. Like the OP pointed out, if God kept us from all of life's bumps and hurdles we wouldn't grow any spiritually. I believe in divine healing, but God does not use that all the time. If all the saints walked around completely healthy people would say that is why we serve Him. They could be right. Jesus said in the world we would have trouble and He was right. Like it says in James trials work for our patience:

James 1:3, 4 "Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."

Good point.

But this begs the question, why not just cause all Christians to be healed, and have perfect health? This would be a great testimony to the unsaved.

Because we are still subject to the elements of this world. I myself, and many many many people have grown and learnt to lean on God more because of an ailment. Now I'm not saying that's the only way to learn this, or that God causes sickness so we can learn but I think it can be due to the condition of the human heart.
Do you ask this question because you think that's how God ought to do it?
Because it's not reality, it obviously shows God thinks differently and since He has no evil thought, His thoughts are correct and it takes humility to accept that.. Not that we can't go to Him with questions like this, I highly advise anyone to go to Him and ask so that we may eventually gain understanding.

Please look up 'Max Gershon' a German/Jewish physician who helped many people survive cancer. Of course the AMA (AmerMedAssoc) didn't like the prospect of losing cancer patients or chemo treatments. The main thing was diet and eating as much fresh, raw veggies as possible even sprouts, things with cancer fighting elements in them. Also eliminating things that feed cancer cells. Best wishes to you!

Amen, and if you look up 'Max Gershon' he was a success in helping people suffering from cancer. You're right diet is a big deal. Raw veggies esp sprouts fight cancer cells while other foods feed them.

Though Jesus said that we would have trials and tribulations, the answer to the question is simple, in that, it is the result of sin. Our current status is in opposition to what is coming:

"They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Though we have salvation and the hope of eternal life in Christ, we are still subject to the results of sin brought on by Adam and Eve's fall, namely, sickness, disease, blindness, deaf, mute, cancer, heart attacks, strokes and death.

Thanks be to God that that all ceases once we are changed into our immortal and glorified bodies at the resurrection.

That's a good answer.

The problem of evil is brought up from different perspectives, so it's ok to answer it from different perspectives.

The problem can be answered theologically, philosophically, or emotionally, and we should be able to answer it different ways depending on the needs of the person we're talking it.

Imagine a world with no evil and sickness ? What would it be called ? Heaven maybe ? Life is a test and everything is under Gods control.

Hello my loving packaderm it's been a while.

I lost two friends from agent orange. I love your thoughts and what's been shown to you but I worry about one thing you said.

"I fully believe and agree that God will be faithful to see us through our trials...........if we remain faithful to Him."

If we remain faithful to him.....God's bigger than that saint ask Peter. He knows the end from the beginning and will never leave or forsake us. I know you know that saint now trust in that.
As far as God testing....with a affliction???? Is that what you wanted to know? I suppose imo God will use any resource to get through our thick heads and harden hearts, but as I said before he alone knows the end from the beginning.
I can't stress enough how God wants us to trust him. Everyone wants that happy ending but because of this world and our fallen state that's not a guarantee this side of heaven.
The trials and tribulation of this world is the fallout of sin but God controls that too. If it were not so there would be no means of escape.
