"the baptism" (according to this context as well as what we see in Romans 6:3) refers to His death. Rom6:3 states, "Or are you unaware that as many as have been baptized into Christ Jesus [not into "water"] have been baptized into His death?"

I was curious about the use of the word "the" in your quoted scripture above. I thought you might use a different bible translation than the KJV. However, after looking at the scripture in the 26 available translations that I have in my software I was surprised that not one of them includes "buried with Him in the baptism. They all record buried with Him in baptism. What bible do you use?

In addition the Strong's number definition of baptized - "baptized into Christ Jesus" from Romans 6:3 states the following:

NT:907 From a derivative of NT:911

NT:907 To immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the N. T.) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: (Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary.)

The info I posted was from the Interlinear incorporated in the BibleSoft software program. However, it does not indicate what specific Interlinear is being used.

But regardless of whether the recorded scripture uses "the" baptism or baptism; God's Word confirms, with witnesses of truth within itself, that God chose obedience to His command to be water baptized as a means of taking away our sin. It has nothing to do with the physical water but rather obedience.

“And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.” Luke 7:29-30

After Jesus' resurrection, those that were water baptized by John the Baptist were re-baptized in the name of Jesus showing there is significance in God establishing the New Testament water baptism...

"Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;" Colossians 2:12-13

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38

Ananias instructed the Apostle Paul to be water baptized as well:
"For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." Acts 22:15-16

So Moses climbed Mount Sinai eight, or possibly nine, times. The real lesson for us in this story is to not just read over something that we think we are familiar with. When we do, we miss a lot of detail. I have focused on the ascents up the mountain, but there are many, many pictures and prophecies in this text. Praise the Lord for His Word!

amen I can’t tell you how often I’ve read something ten times and number eleven then lights up like a Christmas tree as if I’d Never read it

I think Gods design is to not give us all of it at once because we couldn’t live up to everything immediately so as he wills things are revealed to us while we seek him

You should have also suggested to the Moderators to inform all the Christian denominations to stop teaching their members the gospel as they do but teach them only what YOU want them to teach or rather they should tell them to close down instead.

People, even Christians, are terrible gossips. They seem to enjoy finding fault, although we are told to find what is of good report, honest, true, just, lovely etc. and think on these things. We are to build people up, not tear them down.

We are allowed to have different opinions. We are told that some believe in such as that every day is for the Lord, and others believe in one day is special, but all is for the Lord. Church of Christ belief in Christ as our Savior, we are not to make ourselves their enemies.

The basic law of God is love, and all law is rooted in love. This is gossip about a church is not of love.
