Colossians 2:12 is not referring to "water baptism".
It says,
"having been buried with Him in the baptism, in which also you were raised with Him through the faith of the working of God, the One having raised Him out from the dead." and in verse 13, "God made you alive with Christ"

"the baptism" (according to this context as well as what we see in Romans 6:3) refers to His death. Rom6:3 states, "Or are you unaware that as many as have been baptized into Christ Jesus [not into "water"] have been baptized into His death?"

In addition the Strong's number definition of baptized - "baptized into Christ Jesus" from Romans 6:3 states the following:

NT:907 To immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the N. T.) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: (Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary.)
