this is something i read a while back on demon possession in todays world. the demon always refers to Jesus as if He does not acknowledge Him, "the one you call Jesus" "the one that called Himself Jesus".
satan and his minions know Who He is. however, they will not submit to Him with the reverence due to Him. if they need to, they will leave, but they will never submit to Him as Lord. really sad that we, as born again children of God, do not know that we have Christ in us and how powerful He is.

At the end of my shift tonight I was thinking how Satan masquerades as an angel of light and the question came to me that if Satan masquerades as an angel of light, how did people from the bible know that when they were speaking with an angel that he was sent by God? I know that the way people would discern a true prophet is if what he said came to pass and if it did not, that prophet was not sent by God.
Hi CherieR:
I had a similar question: in the transfiguration, how did the Apostles know it was Moses and Elijah that appeared to Jesus?

It seems that Wheat (as opposed to Tares) have an inbuilt discernment of spirit capability.

Now I heard or read something interesting. I do not know why, but it seems that there is a protocol set by God in the spiritual realm.

In some pentecostal / charismatic circles, they affirm that entities are bound to identify their allegiance.

So in theory whenever confronting any "other worldly" being, one must ask: Who do you serve?

According to some believers, envoys from God immediately respond: Jesus Christ.

Others beat about the bush.

Example: a pentecostal sister was driving and something that may be construed as an alien craft kind of trailed her, and she started to get some sort of communication in the mind from them.

She stopped the car and mentally asked them "who do you serve?", the answer came in hesitant tone: we have choices, different alternatives, etc.

She basically told them to leave her alone if they did not serve Jesus Christ (mentally), and surprisingly, they left.

Then there is the story that Ireneaus saw an apparition of what seemed to be Jesus and asked him to bow. He refused because the apparition had a crown, and Ireneaus remembered that Jesus was not crowned until the end. So Ireneaus told the apparition to depart, and it did.

Interesting topic but maybe more research is needed.

Satan, who rebelled against God, was a cherub who was the angel of light before his rebellion. He is the angel leader who took a third of heaven with him. That is why he is sometimes called the angel of light.

An Angel is a messenger of God .A messenger conveys a message .

Would the living Word of God be considered as an angel or messenger of God seeing it works to bring us his messages and works to judge the intent of the heart of its hearer.

There are three major classes of angels, all who serve in different ways. The highest rank is the Cherub. Scripture lists four: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel. Originally their were six, two rebelled and are devils. The middle order are seraphim and are messengers of God, traveling between heaven and earth. Rev. 8:7 The English translation of the Hebrew word seraph is fire. They are the healing angels who burn with fire. The lowest class are teraphim who are spoken of in Heb. 13:2, telling us to be kind to strangers as they might be angels. They are also called watchers in scripture and work at protecting us.

When they are fallen and become devils, scripture sometimes translates the Hebrew word ha teraphin as idols. In Genesis 31:34 "Now Rachel had taken the household idols and put them in the camel's saddle, and she sat on them" the original Hebrew word for idols was teraphin. It is the spirit behind idols.

No, scripture is scripture and angels are angels. Two completely different messengers.

Just to be clear, Raphael and Uriel are ONLY found in Apocryphal Books, not in the Bible.

Thank you. I was wondering about that because I only remembered Michael and Gabriel.

Hi Blik:

Are there particular reasources (web pages, books, e books, etc) that in your opinion have a detailed study about the different kinds of Angels.

Also not to enter in polemics, but some persons think that the "Angel of Yahweh" in OT was none other that Jesus before incarnation. Part of the belief is because as soon as Jesus came to Earth, the Angel of Yahweh left the scene completely.

Can you share with us your take on this?

Thanks ahead of time for any input you share with us.

God said that we must test the spirits to see if they where from God.. So that is the way one would test an Angel to see if it was from God.. sadly people like muhammad did not test the spirit that came to him and he ended up founding an evil religion that is leading millions into deception.. Same thing happened to the founder of Mormonism..

Got to be very careful if an angel comes knocking on your door..
I was thinking, when I read the OP, good question. Maybe test? You know, I would love some feedback as to what testing looks like. Does this mean we ask questions about the word of God?

How do we know this?
We are only given two classes of angels: cherubim and seraphim. People pull studies from all kinds of extra-biblical sources which get us into angel study and even worship. It gets confusing because the Hebrew and Greek words originally meant simply messenger. Many times, a cherub or seraph would appear as a messenger. Even God Himself was the messenger at times (see Gen. 22:15, 16 / Ex. 3:2-6). Many times it is really a human God uses as a messenger. It could be in the form of a hobo asking for a handout; God can move anybody to act out His plan.

One thing we know is they were all created to serve, and they are all spirits; normally invisible to us. Lest we start to worship these servants we needn't study them much. Just respect the power behind them, and their messages, and we can't go wrong. Also, an angel was never a human and a human never becomes an angel; they are a completely separate creation.

Different in which way?

Can humans be reckoned as messengers or the Greek word. Can humans be reckoned as Angelo's . Did mankind carry messages of God?.

Is there more than one kind of messenger (Angelos) ?

Is God a man as us?

Not only that, but the scripture approved of does not speak much about angels, people who study them go to some of the books oa the apocryphal.

Enoch is the special book on angels, and also explains Nephilim. It was accepted as scripture by most scholars for several hundred years after Christ.

The deep see scrolls have opened up ancient history and shown meaning of ancient Hebrew language so there is a better understanding of OT by biblical scholars. With this knowledge, scholars are accepting some OT writing that were thrown out of the Christian canon when Christianity became anti-Jewish.

When someone is a messenger, they are messengers. When an angel is an angel, they are angels who can give messages. You cannot say that all messengers are angels. Demons could be messengers, but they are demons who give messages, not angels who give messages.

God even lives in a different dimension than we live in. As an example God is eternal so God lives without time. We are so conscious of time that it is difficult for us to envision living apart from time.

Science has mathematically discovered eleven dimensions, but being human they are unable to define them.

Angels who are not formed from the dust of the field on the 6 th day are not subject to salvation they have no gospel understanding but long to look into it as there goal . They have no DNA needed to multiply.

They can no more turn visible that we could become invisible. Two kinds of creations . Kinds cannot mix.
When someone is a messenger, they are messengers. When an angel is an angel, they are angels who can give messages. You cannot say that all messengers are angels. Demons could be messengers, but they are demons who give messages, not angels who give messages.

Science has mathematically discovered eleven dimensions, but being human they are unable to define them.
When someone is a messenger, they are messengers. When an angel is an angel, they are angels who give messages...... giving meaning to the name. When men give the same messages they are messengers . All messengers are angels as those who bring messages.
Demons as lying spirits are messengers that are led by another spirit other the Spirit of God, there goal is to make the messages of God to no effect .

Science mathematics needs substance as a rudiment of this world (atoms and molecules) to discover a law .Can't prove God with a microscope. He is not a creation but the one who created(atoms and molecules.

Some angels have no DNA as spiritual messengers. Some sons of God are led by the un-seen Spirit of God others as sons of the god of this world that left their first place of habitation "the presence of God", They are led by the god of this world as false messengers.
