1 Jn 4: 1-3 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."

If an angel appears to you, ask, if Jesus Christ has come in the flesh? Only spirits which are from God will be able to answer, yes, to that question. As for as during the OT times, they didn't know; other than that the evil spirits weren't in hiding back then, as they are now, since Jesus gave the church authority over all the power of the enemy. In Acts we find that the people knew when their children had evil spirits. This passage also tells us that many false prophets went out into the world because they didn't try the spirit speaking to them, sadly and believed their lies.

Before Jesus, it was like the 7 sons of Sceva; who said to the demoniac, We adjure thee by Jesus whom Paul preaches, come out, Their response was; Jesus we know and Paul we know, but who are you and they set upon them and wounded then so they fled naked down the street.

One way, and it may seem trite.........check the Scriptures to see how an angel from God begins their conversation....

Every one I have found start out................ Fear Not .............. angels from God want us to know that they are not a threat to us......

I don't know of an instance when a demon appeared as an angel................... Scripture says the devil can, but does it also say his minions can as well? Dunno that........don't remember an instance in Scripture of that happening.........

Anyway, I go with the "fear not" theory......... :)
Or fear properly as trustworthy .

Mathew 4 gives us an example of when a demon appeared as an angel. Three times the Son man revealed the one source of faith by which we can hear God as it is written .With the little word it in as it is written representing the unseen faith of Christ, the source alone for hearing God . It makes he experiences we experience a matter of our own imaginations if not mixed by faith.

Like today in regard to what some call out of the body experience or near death or I had a dream. We are to believe not. The last new prophecy was over two thousand years ago. The possibility of any new revelations is sealed to the end of time .

The father of lies is still brining his lying signs as wonders through many manners and God is still sending a strong delusion to those who above that which is written so they can continue to believe the lie

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.Mathew 4:4-10

Strike three. three representing the end of a matter.

At the end of my shift tonight I was thinking how Satan masquerades as an angel of light and the question came to me that if Satan masquerades as an angel of light, how did people from the bible know that when they were speaking with an angel that he was sent by God? I know that the way people would discern a true prophet is if what he said came to pass and if it did not, that prophet was not sent by God.

Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them (Acts 6:3)

Angels as those led by the Spirit of Christ can be normal human beings .
Angels are simply translated as messengers. They can be human, cherubs, animals (as in talking donkey) or even God Himself. It was only later that we started calling cherubim or seraphim angels. During the new testament times, it had already become commonplace. It gets kind of confusing for some.

uh, when Christ was tempted in the desert, that was Satin himself, not one of his minions........well, as I read Scripture.....

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

So, that really isn't one of his minions appearing as an angle in my opinion. I said I KNOW the devil can appear as an angle, but I do not see one of his minions doing so.......not in Matthew.......

It seems your reference from John "underlined" is more directed at humans......because the bolded in your post and the cited verse I gave indicates they KNOW exactly who JESUS is while he was in the flesh.....just something to ponder.

Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

Its all consider the legion of lying spirits. When one is conjured up you get the whole kit and kabuto . Everyone that left its first place of habitation which was with God is led by the spirit of lies.

Like the example of the demon in Mark and Luke

Mark 5:9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

Luke 8:30And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were

I would very much like to know where you learned this?
The word Greek word angelos…….. simply means mean messenger with no other meaning added to it.

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger (angel) before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.(Mt 11:8-10

And when the messengers (angels) of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? Luke 7:24

And sent messengers (angels) before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.Luke 9:52

And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel (messenger) of God, even as Christ Jesus.Gal 4:1

Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, (angels) and had sent them out another way? James 2:25

last but not least the head angel.... the word of God that put on the temporal flesh as the Son of God. In the last days he has spoken to us brining us messages from the father

The word angel like the word apostle as to its meaning has been changed by those who desire to make the word of God without effect.

Violating the warning in Deuteronomy 4:3 used to protect the integrity of His word

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time,

5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

it was to the messenger as the Son of man, Jesus that the father said this day have I begotten thee. Which other angel could it be

Hey! dc... PTL!
As I see it: Every unsaved person we talk to, will tell us that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Evil spirits are the ones who are unable to admit that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, ever! And when a person doesn't test the spirits, then they end up believing their lies, going out from among us making false prophecies given to them by the enemy.
Sadly... : (

In Acts 19, when the seven sons of Sceva attempted to cast out devil spirits, one of the evil spirits said:

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

My understanding is that an evil spirit can say the name "Jesus", but will not call Jesus "Lord". The devil will never confess Christ Jesus is Lord.

One day every knee will bow and tongue will confess Jesus is Lord. Paul mentions this in his letter Philippians.

this is something i read a while back on demon possession in todays world. the demon always refers to Jesus as if He does not acknowledge Him, "the one you call Jesus" "the one that called Himself Jesus".

i also read that those those that, according to them, were abducted by aliens, when they called on Jesus they found themselves back in their bed or backyard or wherever they were taken from.

In the regard of perception, yes they can appear a 2normal" human beings but being true angels, they are not as you or as I......I should dhave included this, but in that regard yes at first they may appear as normal human beings as occurrred many times in the OT.

Bye the way the word in Hebrew for angel is malak for one angel and plural is malakim. It is odd how some folks rely on Greek without seeking to know the word in the language it was introduced in and used teh most.

Most who trully believe Jesus do not need ay translation beyond the one furnished by our Father in each's native tonge.

It has been given to me to know some Hebrew because linguistics and languag was my major in studies. With this in mind, had they not been I probably would not have read the Word in Hebrew…….Praise God for the family in Yeshua, Jesus, amen.

For a time.. As long as God wants then to use the flesh bodies they are in while doing their duties on earth.. The two angels that came to sodom to contact Lot where in human bodies during the time they where doing that mission..
