i believe it goes back to something even more petty.

when he first arrived here at CC i had a conversation with him in a thread. he was cordial and perfectly willing to answer questions in a straightforward way, seemingly eager to be my teacher. then we got to Colossians 2:16 - and he said it actually means we're supposed to judge each other over sabbath keeping & diet ((oddly leaving of the feasts and new moon festivals bit)). i told him he was wrong, and it was like a switch flipped. he's been slandering me ever since, jumping to all kinds of wrong assumptions, saying he knows everything about me and everything i believe - 95% of which he's absolutely wrong about.

i was probably not as gentle as i should have been - or maybe it was God's purpose that the malice in him be brought to light. i remember saying something like, oh, there it is, i should have expected - that everyone who thinks we are under the Law as having become redeemed through Him eventually has to flip Colossians 2 upside down if they want to keep their religion consistent.
he really, really didn't like that.

i'm under the impression that he's got a vendetta against me because i contradicted his teaching. that this is all about vanity, and ceased to be about doctrine a long time ago with him. if it was about doctrine, why would he keep making false accusations and bringing things up out of nowhere? par exemplar: we were talking about the hypostatic union. so why did he throw in a wild accusation about sabbath keeping, pointed personally at me? answer: grudge.
Keep "swingin" bone man....we got your back and value the wisdom of your posts and the thought provoking inspiration that comes from many things you throw our way....

our works do not earn salvation, righteousness is by faith alone.
A simple question. Because we are saved by grace do we continue to sin?

John 6:63
Matthew 26:41
I agree that we can not do anything good in our flesh, but does the Spirit possess us so that we loss our ability to choose,? No, He strengthens us to choose to obey. We can still choose who we will serve. Without the help of the Spirit we would continually choose sin, but with the Spirit we can overcome.
Jos_24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Mat_6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Joh_12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
we are not robots and have free choice. And because we are not saved by works we can still chose to obey because we Love God. God even gives us the power to obey by giving us the Spirit.

I am confident that Paul said, 'GOD forbid" and the context is a continual lifestyle of sin........because John said, "If WE say that WE have no sin, WE are deceived and the truth is not in US."

No one will be fully sinless as far as this dead body of sin is concerned until we get a glorified body....yes through Christ and our BORN AGAIN spirit which does not sin and the transformation that takes place per Romans 12:1-2 we can suppress sin, overcome many sins, keep from living a lifestyle of willful sin yet we will not be sinless...........

There is not a just man upon the earth that does good and sins not <----when this was written there were saved, faithful men and women of God on the planet.

Daniel, which was one of THREE listed that could be delivered by how own righteousness IF IT WERE POSSIBLE is also found CONFESSING his sins and the sins of the people.....

Paul goes from being the least of the apostles, to the least of the least of the saints to the #1 Chief sinner among MEN.....

Just saying.......

why do you always feel it necessary to lie about others?

these words are for me precisely because He saved me and gave me eternal life.

why does it bother you that person's faith can be strong enough to see these things as being reality?
why does it irk you that i am sure of the hope i have in Him?
As the Christ teaches, there are "many" folks who will claim God's Grace and Mercy, "in that day" having been convinced, as Eve was, that they are already immortal, already saved and that much of God's Word is against them. But the Christ, the very Word of God they claim gave them immortality, says lip service and traditions which transgress His Commandments will not lead to Life. That man shall live by "EVERY WORD" Which proceeds out of the mouth of God.

His Word exposes lip service and religious traditions whether they be "wrought" in God or not. You have said over and over that many of God's Word's are not for you, actually against you so much so that Jesus came to "Remove them" (your words). Then when I say "you don't believe these Words are for you", you call me a liar.

You won't engage in the discussion of "WHO" receives God's Grace since it is clear that most who "believe" they will, shall not? At least according to the Christ of the Bible.

It's not about you, it's about the religions of the world whose doctrines you promote, all while calling Him Lord, Lord.

the physical sign of the Mosaic covenant is not an 'eternal quality' of God.
is circumcision of the flesh an 'eternal quality of God' ?

you don't even have any idea whether i keep sabbath in the flesh or not.
but do you hold a malicious grudge because i uphold the command 'do not let anyone judge you over a sabbath' ?
Far be it from me to judge some of the Word's of God as not "eternal quality". The Mainstream Preachers of Christ's Time also "omitted" parts of His Word which they considered not worthy of their religion. Could it be that you have been convinced to do the same. OH, that's right, you are already immortal.

You are omitting an important part of Col. 2.

"'do not let anyone judge you over a sabbath'".

Paul isn't speaking about "Rudiments of the World" or man's traditions here as you imply. He is speaking about the Holy Days and Sabbaths created by the Word of God, the Christ, which became Flesh in the person of Jesus. These are His Words, His creation. Of course I am not to let you or the Pope or the Pharisees judge me in "denying myself and following the Christ".

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

The verse has different meaning when you don't leave off the parts that "irk" you.

Is Passover and Feast of Unleavened bread a religious tradition of man? Or did the 100% Christ create them for us and show us how to follow HIM in them?

Every person on the planet who calls Him Lord, Lord claims His Grace and Mercy. But the creator of Grace and Mercy, the Christ, the Word of God said this:

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

It's about the Word of God to me Post, ALL of them. Not the religions of the land we were warned about over and over.

Where does Scripture say Eve was convinced she was already immortal?

Hi Magenta, it is not written down in scripture but it was the day she set her eyes on Adam and she was
"already immortally" "forever in love"....:)

Proverbs18:22
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.

It doesn't.....more smoke, mirrors and misdirection from the Cainologist.....as a matter of fact we can fully grasp the truth that EVE understood the promise made in Genesis 3:15 and had even taught the children the truth of blood by faith.......

I will be starting this as a new topic.

Here is How to Make Sure Your Calling and Election.

2 Peter 1:10
Wherefore, brethren, labour the more, that by good works you may make sure your calling and election. For doing these things, you shall not sin at any time.

What about......... circumcision? Is it necessary in your opinion? If you say yes, then you are contradicting what Paul says in the NT "circumcision is nothing and neither is uncircumcision but keeping the commandments of God". If you say no, then you are merely PICKING AND CHOOSING which OT commandments to keep. Circumcision is a big one, and if you dont do it you are "cut off" from the people.
It's not the only thing that is cut off:cool:

here's an extreme example to help emphasize the truth

say, someone placed their faith in God's saving grace

sincerely believed, done!

then that someone became comatose (for reasons irrelevant to the discussion) as if spending the rest of his/her life in a coma

clearly, not a single "works" can be performed during a coma

but faith is credited as righteousness, which means, even being comatose doesn't negate the fact of that someone's salvation.

...As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. James 2:26

...teaching them to OBEY WHATEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU… Matthew 28:18-20

...And this is his command: TO BELIEVE in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and TO LOVE one another as he commanded us.1 John 3:23

...And this is love: that WE WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. 2 John 1:6

...For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him, Philippians 1:29

Does a person who teaches obedience to God causes another person to sin by doing so?

Would any person who don't have FAITH in God teach obedience to God? Or would the deceiver be TEACHING obedience to God as a deception? Would he not rather teach DISOBEDIENCE in His attempt to deceive the believers?

Is it not those who condemn those who teach obedience to God who DOES NOT HAVE FAITH in God and CAUSES A PERSON TO SIN?

Is it not that sin is the transgression of the law?(1 john 3:4)

Is it obedience to God to break the law?

Who then causes another person to sin?

...At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

2 He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3 And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

5 “And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. 6 But IF ANYONE CAUSES ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES WHO “BELIEVE” IN ME TO SIN, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

7 “Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but WOE TO THE MAN THROUGH WHOM THEY COME FROM! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be THROWN INTO ETERNAL FIRE. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be THROWN INTO THE FIRE OF HELL. matthew 18:1-9

...Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things GOD'S WRATH COMES ON THOSE WHO ARE DISOBEDIENT. ephesians 5:6

Sure, but not based upon nonstudyman's twist......and then there is the whole other ball game of destiny and God already reckoning them dead because he began to reconcile the world unto himself before he even cast down creation......
