A lot of folks on this site say they are Christian while believing and teaching things that are not true.
Hey! SpoonJuly... PTL!
Technically, we come to the Lord by faith just as we are at the time, because it is not possible for us to clean ourselves up without the Spirit or even to correct our incorrect beliefs on our own.
Is 25: 9, 10 "Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little."
(So that we should be growing in accurate knowledge and doctrine only as we devote ourselves to the word of God)
Heb 5: 12-6:2 "For when for the time when ye ought to be teachers, ye have need one teach you again which be the first principals of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Therefore leaving the principals of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, and of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment."
Perhaps babes in Christ, which are those who were just born again or those who have need for one to teach them again a foundation of repentance from dead works; are ministered to by the Spirit upon the milk of the word; which transforms the babe in Christ by the renewing of their mind, conforming them into the image of Christ. Where strong meat deals with doctrines reserved for the mature, who are able to walk after the Spirit, denying the lusts of the flesh. Guilt becomes a tool used by the Spirit to reveal one's sin to that person according to their need as discerned by the Lord; and to set that one free from sin working to entangle and then overcome. This is what happens to the mature, who neglect their devotions in the scripture which the Spirit uses to maintain the foundation of a penitent heart, making the mature to be babes in Christ all over again, when they should be teachers instead.
If I profess having a knowledge of the truth, but am unable to be transformed by the renewing of my mind by the Lord's word; would not that be denying the power thereof?
