Bible Trivia…

What a fun way to study. First we start looking for the answer. Ok, I usually have to because I have much to learn still. This first step usually takes me to all kinds of exploration. You know...wait now, how did that happen, why and what not. Let me show you what happens with my female brain.. case in point...with the staff of Moses turning into a serpent, is it a coincidence that the same creature used to deceive Eve is now being used to free His ppl, the Israelites, from the land of Egypt? And then that took me to another study on was it the staff or the serpent that consumed the Egyptian serpent/staff, or does it matter, because they represent the same thing?

As fun as it is to find the answers, creating a good question, one that might require some digging, is also enjoyable because one must also explore and excavate in searching for one. I admire theologians, apologists, and berean type students of the word. I am a wanna be, because my heart burns it seems like the disciples who said to one another…

They said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?" Luke 24:32

Wait now, who exactly is Cleopus? Oh, he was Simon. Do we know the name of the other disciple in that particular exchange? One answered question takes me to more and more and more.

May Bible Trivia be a game or rather a fun research project that never ends.

I believe that Cleopus was once queen of Egypt or some such place. This may require further research to verify the validity of this claim.

Shoot, I spelled His name wrong. Thank you so much for pointing me towards looking back...

One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, "Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?"
Luke 24:18 NASB

Now I'm not sure why they say He is Simon, but later we see this...

saying, "The Lord has really risen and has appeared to Simon."
Luke 24:34 NASB

But if Cleopas is Simon, why did it reference Him as Cleopas, not Simon, saying one of them whose name is...

Do you know?

Thanks again Tourist. God Bless Brother.

What I do know that in the bible God is very particular about names and each name has a deeper meaning that is often referred to yet another name. We each have a unique name too that is known only by God but in time we will know and understand the meaning as well. Yeah, there does seem to be a lot of Simon's in the bible doesn't there? You got Simon the tanner, Simon who was also Peter and probably others as well. I really like that passage of Cleopas unaware that he was walking with the Lord. Of course Jesus was certainly aware of the things that happened in those days because He was the star of the drama that was played out for the remission of sin.

The would be Cleopatra and she is listed in the book of Daniel (11:17) when he lays bare the wars between the Kings of the North and the Kings of the South over the Kingdom of Alexander the Great after his death.....<--The Ptolemies and Seleucid's................

Yeah, I know that Cleopatra was the queen of Egypt, I just like to have a little fun at times with certain names that are close to other names. I believe that Cleopus is just a misspelling of Cleopas who walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus after His resurrection.

The Messianic resources I have say that Cleopas is Jesus's uncle (Joseph's brother). I'll have to research that a bit and see what it said exactly.

They said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?" Luke 24:32

i would love to know what all Jesus told them.

Ok, this is so interesting, his uncle, huh? I now am going to see what I can find online. I know, though, can you imagine how awesome it would be to be taught by the author Himself. I know we have that but I mean in the physical sense. You know... looking into His voice, and into His eyes. Did he use His hands to talk, stuff like that. Oh what a beautiful and powerful experience that had to be.
