This is good stuff. I have just tried to venture back out in into Christian music again and I am finding the same thing. A lot of it sounds the same, too. Manufactured. I can flip to one of the three or so Christian music stations in this area and it generally sounds like they are playing the same thing. Worship music is a whole other rant.
I'm curious to go back to check out some of the CCM from when I was trying to find stuff I liked before I sort of fell away in the early 2000s. I loved stuff like Starflyer 59, but there wasn't much of a Christian message there.
I would like to find more stuff like Keith Green. His stuff was always challenging and he was a great musician, too. Not everyone has to be, but it's always been a bit depressing that some of the best displays of musicianship came from secular music. Not that everyone has to be a virtuoso to make good music with meaning.
