Here's what's in my bible,

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:1-4

and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15-17
These are great truths. However. It demands we interpret everything that was writtin in the past correctly, or we miss the mark and Gods word becomes of no effect.

="mailmandan, post: 3744377, member: 193497"]You mean, as long as you believe on the Word of God, according to YOUR definition of "Believe" then you have your fingers crossed that you will receive the gift of eternal life based on the merits of your performance/law keeping. So what is the passing grade? Does God grade on a curve?
Not my definition of believe, but the Word of God which became Flesh's definition, as our perfect example of Faith, written for our admonition, shows us.

Gen. 26:
4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

In Matthew 7:23, the NASB says - ..you who practice lawlessness. - "descriptive of children of the devil."
Yes, this is true. What you willfully ignore, is the Biblical Fact that these didn't know they were serving satan, just as the Mainstream Preachers of Christ's time didn't believe they were serving satan.. This is why there are so many warnings about deception and listening to "other voices" like Eve did, and to "Take Heed" and to "put on the whole armor of God". Of course if a person is deceived into believing they are already immortal, then they are also convinced they are immune from deception. Matt. 7 is a warning that men in this world are not immune from deception, and that we need to "DO" things provided by the Christ, to protect our self, not just hear them. You can't say He didn't warn us.

1 John 3:4 - Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. 5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him sins; no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him. 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.

Now if a man can "study" and learn what the Word of God says Righteousness is, and then "Believe" Him, we would not "practice unrighteousness". Is creating images of God in the likeness of some long haired men's hair shampoo model "God's Righteousness"?

Will you answer?

Is rejecting the Sabbath of the Word of God, "righteousness"?

Will you answer?

Is preaching that the Pharisees were trying to "Earn" Salvation by obeying the God of the Bible "Righteousness"?

Rom. 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

The Christ explains;

Matt. 15:
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (God's Laws are not written on their hearts)
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Not God as many on this forum preach)

If I open my eyes and find myself in a religion which does these things, what shall I do? Well the Christ said:

4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.

And what is her plague? Is it not being deceived?

What if you manipulate those Words to teach salvation by works? Is that living by EVERY WORD of God? These many people (unbelievers) in Matthew 7:22 had the wrong foundation. It wasn't that they had the wrong works and just didn't have all the right works. The problem was they were trusting in their works to save them and NOT IN CHRIST ALONE. *Jesus NEVER knew them which means they were NEVER saved.
They trusted in their religious traditions and doctrines for their foundation, not in the Word of God which became Flesh. As a result, even though they gave the Christ all the glory, because they lived in "lawlessness" they were rejected.

John 17:3 - And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent (which is an intimate, experiential knowledge, found only in a relationship). The term "know" implies intimate, experiential knowledge, through a personal relationship with the Lord and not merely theoretical knowledge.

The hearts of these many people in Matthew 7:22 were not right with God, so their attempted external obedience was stained with sin. *Seeking salvation by works is not the will of the Father. (Matthew 7:21)
Duet 30:
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I (The Christ) have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

This is the Will of the God of the Bible. How can you say it is not?

John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

We are not saved by religion, but by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and not by works (Ephesians 2:8,9).
True, we are not saved by religion, we are saved by the Word of God which became Flesh. By HIS WORKS, not ours.

Therefore we should listen, and not only hear the Word of God, but also "do" as the Word of God instructs, as did Abraham.

Knowing full well that the religions of the world will oppose such actions, just as the serpent opposed them in Eve's case.

so why don't you believe you are saved?
I believe I shall be saved, but I am not yet immortal as the serpent convinced Eve. If I "follow" the Christ of the Bible until the end, I shall be saved. But if I turn away from Him and towards religions which transgress His Commandments, then I too, as the Mainstream Preachers of His time, will be rejected. Not because some religious franchise tells me this, but because the Christ of the Bible, in whom I truly believe, tells me this.

Rom. 11:
20 Well; because of unbelief (disobedience) they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

His Word's not mine. And since I "believe" Him, I will continue in HIS GOODNESS with all my heart, soul, mind and body. And with HIS promised help to those who love Him and keep His Commandments, I have Faith that I will overcome.

HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHA folks we have a comedian.......change the word "your" to "MY" and you will have a winning, truthful statement.......
Like I said before, the gospel is the "good news" of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that BELIEVES.. (Romans 1:16). To "believe" the gospel is to trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of our salvation. It’s just that simple! :)

Sadly, misguided teachers of the law refuse to believe the gospel and feel the need to twist the Scriptures and pervert the gospel by teaching salvation by “grace plus law, faith plus works.” (Galatians 1:6-9; 2 Corinthians 4:3,4). :(

she got ticked off at me a few days ago when I pointed out the greek word for law means law, not laws ( plural ) as the judeaizers claim to try to convince us to keep the Sabbath to be saved.

she basically said she did not care about word definitions, keep the Law, she cried. then left.

of course they do not care about context, word definitions, chronological order, things like that.

they just yell " Sabbath . Law .God of the Bible. Keep the Commands "

Your words are false....not of God and for sure not biblical.......nor do they make a lick of sense....you have a serious issue with biblical comprehension, verb tense, context and the truth.........

You said...

I believe I shall be saved <---False, the bible is replete with verses that speak of salvation as a present, current possession and EVEN DAVID spoke of his salvation in the present tense. Also, the bible speaks of salvation in ALL three tenses and sets forth salvation as a past COMPLETED action with present continuing results.

but I am not yet immortal as the serpent convinced Eve <---False, No where is this view presented in scripture, he convinced EVE that she would have the same KNOWLEDGE that God possessed and your view reads in something that is not there. John wrote that what was written was written that we may know NOW that we have ETERNAL LIFE

If I "follow" the Christ of the Bible until the end, I shall be saved <---False, Refer to point 1 and many conflate the two verses that mention this into a salvation issue....neither are applicable to the eternal salvation that is freely and irrevocably given at the moment of initial faith.

But if I turn away from Him and towards religions which transgress His Commandments, then I too, as the Mainstream Preachers of His time, will be rejected. <--False, First of all, there were MANY Pharisees that believed on him, but out of fear stayed in the background, One such Pharisee was Nicodemus who HELPED prepare the body of Christ. Second, your obvious hatred of any and all Christian religions is not only ignorant, but in particular very bias to the fact that some do indeed teach the truth.

but because the Christ of the Bible, in whom I truly believe, tells me this. <---FALSE, Jesus tells you no such thing. The above false statements are the result of your own mind and bias toward the actual word of God. MANY have proven your fallacies by the word and you, unlike the Corinthian assembly, refuse to be open to the truth because you have willingly closed your eyes to any and all truth in context that disagrees with your man made theology.

If you are not saved when you leave this earth by faith into the blood and sacrifice of Christ you will forever remain lost.......end of story....and too be frank....I fully expect you to reject the above, give some wall of conflated text, disagree, continuing walking your path to nowhere and you will probably never acknowledge the saving faith of the bible. <--Tragically I might add....

="eternally-gratefull, post: 3745088, member: 82611"]If your not saved right now. Your not saved, and will never be saved.[/QUOTE]

Once again we have the Gospel of EG, and we have a different Gospel called the "Gospel of Christ"

Rom. 11:
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief (disobedience), shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.

So in your religion, I will never be saved, but in the Gospel of the Christ, IF I trust Him enough to "believe" Him and His Words until the "END" I shall be saved no matter what you preach. For the God of the Bible is able to "graft me" into the Holy Tree so that I, like all Gentiles who turn from the religions of the land, and turn to God, can Partake of the HOLY ROOT. "For my God is able to graft me in", even if your god is not.

Salvation is not somethign we work for or earn, it is something we will always until the day we die fail to earn. It can never be won, It can never be earned, it can never be purchased. It can only be given.
But the Christ doesn't give it to everyone, this is a Biblical fact. You are convinced you have it, as did the Mainstream Preachers of Christ time, and those "Christians" in Matt. 7, along with several billion people on the planet who follow your religion. All I am saying is that we should "DO" as the Christ teaches, not the pope, or you, or Benny Hinn.

I am not trying to "earn", "purchase, the Salvation of God. I am told I am bought with a price, and that I am free to "SERVE" the Living God with reverence and fear, as instructed. This is called "works worthy of repentance" without which no one will be saved. It's in your Bible EG.

1 Peter 1:
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, (Of the Bible)
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Cor. 9:
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Heb. 12:
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Matt. 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

2 Tim. 2:
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already (We are already saved, already Immortal) and overthrow the faith of some. (Another blow to OSAS)
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one (Jew and Gentile) that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (Lawlessness)

As long as you continue to try to gain your own salvation, and rejectect the great salvation God is offering you right here and right now. You will never find it. Period.
I am not interested in my salvation or your salvation EG. I am interested in Salvation created by the Word of God which became Flesh.

This is the Salvation I seek. Shall I not "believe" in the Creator of it?

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus, Romans 8:1
a person can really misrepresent this by quoting it alone. it comes right after Romans 7:25

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Hi E-grateful, and yes a big welcome back. Honestly I did not know Studyman was not saved.

There are many reasons why "today" is the day of salvation and there are positively, "no reasons" why you should "delay." The number one reason why you should not "delay", is that we cannot say for certain the time or day that we will die; and therefore you may not have time to repent; this is something anyone may want to consider. Psalm95:7 say's; "Today, if you hear His voice", and do not harden your heart."

"If you do not "harden your heart", God will place the "desire" to repent and be saved in your heart.

God bless!

Acts17:30
30)
The times of ignorance God overlooked, "but now he commands" all people everywhere to repent,

Hebrews9:27
9)
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment,

Acts3:19
3)
Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,

Psalm95:7,8
7)
For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
Today,
if you hear His voice, 8) do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,

Hi decon, how very true your statement is, when we are "rooted and grounded in the truth" our mind can be as strong as a rock, or "a block of granite." :)
