Men wear makeup, too. And it's definitely not a new thing. In biblical times, male and female Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Assyrians, and Persians wore makeup. They painted around their eyes, on their cheeks, the palms of their hands, in their hair, their beards. They also dressed in brightly colored fabrics, doused themselves in perfumes and oils, and wore alluring jewelry. Vanity has always been.

I'm wondering now, if a woman required her man to look sophisticated by wearing makeup, would the OP comply?

Ah, so she did wear some makeup. Why didn't you told her to stop wearing it? No woman is going to be offended by you telling her that she looks great au natural.

What about your current gf?

Why do most women wear makeup, if we all agree that women without makeup look no less beautiful or non-feminine? Are you going to accuse my loan voice of representing the majority?

You've said nothing to convince me that my view of women is skewed.

You should look at some polls of Christians that measure their knowledge of the Bible.

When I'm the only one here expressing these views, how can I ruin it for all guys? Your statement is nonsense on the face of it. But, if your goal is to pander to others, then mission accomplished.
I didn't "tell" her not to wear makeup because I wasnt her handler, I was her boyfriend. Though I did express to her my preference, and she was fine with it. But she didn't always wear it before i came around.

The notion that I was blaming your "loan" voice is ridiculous. Primarily because the word you're looking for is "lone".
But even if you had used the correct word it would still be ridiculous because nothing I said suggests any such thing.

Women wear makeup for a variety of reasons, so I can't give a single answer. Some may wear it because it's fun for them, others may wear it because they believe its required to attract a man (which is false) others may wear it out of insecurity in themselves, which is often formed by, or fed by, men making claims that women need it to be attractive.

I don't anticipate changing your mind. Typically it takes more than an internet debate to change a persons mind. And men that hold to the sorts of views you hold are particularly known for the inability to think outside their egos.

Polls can be easily skewed. If I question a 100 people who use the title of Christian does that mean all are born again and in healthy churches that encourage them to learn and aid them in their spiritual growth? Probably not. So am I really to believe that poll is accurate to the people that make up the Bride of Christ, or is it mostly a gaggle of people using a title?

If you had read properly you'd have seen I said that its "guys 'like' you". Not you singlehandedly. This repeated notion that you are somehow the sole person responsible speaks more to your ego than to anything I've said.
And since you misread my statement then your response is invalidated.

As far as pandering I've no idea where you came up with such a silly idea. I am not known as one that panders to people. Nor do I have any reason to pander to any on this site.
I say what I have said because it is what I believe and how I live out my life. Also because my knuckles don't drag when I walk.

Oh, the humanity! I misspelled a word! Bravo for you to catch it. Now, what were you saying about I'm ruining it for everyone?

You think women wear makeup because it's 1) It's fun, like clowns? 2) women are stupid and ignorant, or 3) women are insecure. I disagree. Women wear make up because they are correct in believing in makes them more attractive.

Hey, I flipped through some news channels and every woman I saw had makeup on, often a lot. Do you think the producers of news channels are going for fun? Do you think the producers are all ignorant about what viewers want? Do you think they're insecure. Ripping apart your position is too easy.

These pictures were awesome, Auntie Ant, especially the first one in the top left corner.

Nothing like watching good ol' Jean Claude participate in a little Van Dabbage... of just the most perfect shade of masculine foundation, of course!

I have to admit, this thread inspired me to slap on a little extra concealer and lip gloss today. I'm hoping all the people I interact with at work can appreciate my efforts, and even make it a point to notice how "unmannish" it helps me look.

On second thought...

I'm a little scared of looking like one of these guys.

After all, their makeup is like 10 times better than mine... (and, I'm pretty sure they can afford the brand-name stuff.)

Van Damme is the only one in there that has his makeup on right. The others look horrible. The guy in the center doesn't even have makeup on and Adam Lambert's is the worst. Lambert looks like he let some 12 yr old kid put it on him (no offense to 12 yr old kids). The guy on the bottom right only has eyeliner on and it just looks like someone drew a black line around his eyes.

So now I'm wondering...

* If women should put on makeup because it helps them to not look like men...

* Do men wear makeup... in order to not look like women?

If so, I think some of these guys are out of luck. They don't really look like men OR women, but that's just my opinion.

And yeah, in that picture, Adam Lambert looks like a grown-up Oompa Loompa who's gone goth.

Her boyfriend does care, and she knows it. He's just trying to be nice. He wants her to know she's pretty even without makeup. He wants her to know that he's prefer to to give up the lipstick rather than have her utilities shut off.

Take note, he prefers her with makeup, else he would encourage her to skip it, rather than just say he doesn't care. By saying he doesn't care, he gets to play the nice guy while still getting the girl with makeup.
This is bull, and blanket statements that do not fit most of the guys I know.

I'm glad my sister is not your girlfriend. I would hate to think she has to parse out everything you say to determine whether you're telling her the truth or just trying to be nice while still trying to get what you want.

Most guys I know are nowhere near that duplicitous - not for lack of mental ability, but just for lack of motive. Frankly it's not worth the effort to lie that much to a girl just to get her to wear makeup and still think you're a nice guy.

Let me put this in simpler language.

Even if all guys were willing to lie to their girlfriends, most of the guys I know would be too lazy. It's just not worth the effort.

Adam Lambert needs to watch this guy's videos... This guy really knows how to do makeup. Maybe women can find it useful too..

This also brings up another interesting point...

* What does it say about women when there are so many makeup MALE makeup artists out there who are better at applying makeup on women than women are themselves?

* Does it mean that men are better at instructing women on how to be women than women know how to be themselves, or does it mean that our culture allows men, rather than women, to define what is or isn't feminine?

I think it's because men who are more feminine are more artistic.

An interesting point (the second one). I'm unsure but male makeup artists are naturally better because they see the true beauty in a woman than what other women can see in them. I don't know, but you gotta look back in the affirmation men do give to women. A female may feel they're not beautiful but wait until a male comes in ;) There are a lot of opinions though. Just saying :)
