I have not seen anyone on this Thread suggest that "(people think repentance means buying the free and priceless gift salvation with filthy rags)"
IF one believes, and desires to be saved............he must FIRST repent........turn from his sinful ways

Pick one.

"And God saw their WORKS,[Eph 2:8-10] that they turned from their sin" Jonah 3:10

Right?

The double mindedness of works salvation.

"Salvation is a free gift, BUT..."

Paying for a free gift with filthy rags.

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ ”

Your teaching works salvation again, huh?
Jesus won't come in unless you open the door. Sounds like works to me! :)

Amazing how some folks do not understand this is ALL about salvation.

Are you familiar with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, and would you mind terribly telling me what church/organization/group you are a member/part of?

As for the last part.............IF one believes, and desires to be saved............he must FIRST repent........turn from his sinful ways, and ask Christ to forgive his sins.......

That has not one single thing to do with buying salvation. It IS obeying what Christ said to do.....
Works salvation preachers are on par with the npc meme.

"its not buying salvation, it's just buying salvation. Following the law for salvation is not works at all"

"be obedient" *disobeys Christ's command to believe alone apart from works and be saved*

I was going to add this comment, but had to leave for Therapy before the Thread was posted.

Sooooooo

I certainly count myself in as one who needs to evaluate my thoughts, words, and deeds to be sure they are worthy of being called a child of God. It ain't easy though, and I know there are others here who feel the same way...... Yes, I know we are saved, sanctified, and God loves and keeps us, but we do need to do as He wills us to do!

Anyway,
The only way we have a chance of that is with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to help us to will to do right. But if we fail we have an advocate Jesus Christ and we repent and he helps us turn away from sin and follow in his footsteps. Sometimes easier said than done which is why you get into justification and sanctification the latter being the work of a life time because we don't arrive until we arrive in heaven to our changed immortal bodies. It's our daily walk and moment by moment decisions as we walk with God.

Yes. We need to repent "change our mind" about what it means to "change our mind". Unbelief to belief. It's that simple.

It's a bit more... in that if we really believe then people will notice a change in our lives as we won't be doing what we were doing in the world we will be following in Jesus footsteps and the world will notice the difference... For example if we had a temper before we will be in control of said temper and treat those around us with love and respect. If we had sticky fingers and stole things before we will no longer be a thief.

So there is a bit more to it than just believing. Satan believes but his actions don't follow what he believes and knows to be true.

What part of this do you not understand?

John 14:21) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

22) Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24) He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

25)
These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Works preachers are NPCs. Non playable characters. They can only robotically regurgitate what satan tells them to.

Didn't care about NPC's........goodness......

Your response that obedience cancels out belief is childish at best, and laughable at worst

Still waiting to learn what church/group you identify with.........

As well, since you appear to require explicit language: DO YOU have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Did Sanctified believers lay hands on you and pray over you so that you would receive the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit?

Did God make a U-turn from sin?

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Jonah 3:10 KJV

No, God repented - he changed his mind.

However we do see what making a u-turn is in the verse above

And God saw their works, that they u-turned from their evil way. Jonah 3:10

Nineveh's repentance is here, a few verses earlier:

So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
Jonah 3:5 KJV

First you repent (change your mind from unbelief) and after salvation you change your ways especially if you want fellowship with God, otherwise life will be far from fun.

Jesus equates repentance with faith:
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it , repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
Matthew 21:32 KJV

In other words Jesus told the pharisees that even after all they witnessed they still didn't repent (change their mind) and believe.

Granville Sharp rule shows faith and repentance the same:

If God's people want to be blessed and healed, Christians must turn from their sins.

if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Did God make a U-turn from sin?

2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
I am addressing the above bold underlined sentence.

No God did not make a U-turn from sin as He is not capable of sinning. God has changed His mind and not punished when He said He would punish when people made the U-turn from sin and repented and changed what they were doing.

Just because God changed His mind does not mean He sinned...

You laugh and mock, clearly that's all you want, but God has the last laugh.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Psalms 2:4 KJV

I love you as does Christ and hope you find true salvation.

So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! (1 Cor 12:10)

standing firm = being obedient
"don't fall" is not possible here
