Just think what anointed ones could do if they put aside their Bibles, listened to God and obeyed Him.
That is the most foolish statement I have heard in a long time.
Have you actually stopped studying the Bible?
If so, you are headed down a long dark passage that will end very badly.

Why would Scripture include such statements as "My sheep know My voice" and "Test the spirits" if God never intended to speak outside of Scripture?

Scripture is not enough huh? Does God ever "speak" to you things that are contrary to His word, or in accordance to His word?
I Marked your post as "funny." :) (I'll esplain later)

To answer the OP! Why yes! Yes He does! Thanks for being inquisitive enough to ask! If God speaks to you? Then, you are not alone! ;)

There is, and are, YUUGE GAPS, between, those that God reveals Himself TO, and those who "teach/preach" concerning (drum roll, with a "thunderous" reverb setting on the PA :p) "The REVEALED WORD.....of God!!!"
Most of the latter, are driven/striven practitioners of vainful, and profane efforts, to the subverting of the "hearers", giving cause in the "rising" of ungodliness WITHIN the very churches of stone, themselves! Which, virtually "rolls out the red carpet", for "cessessionists!" Inasmuch, as it makes for a Nice, quiet, and peaceful place, to further their collective causes! Which is, rendering people's faith, and hearts, as "while, somewhat an enemy?" "They have "registered themselves", as CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS!" "And, therefore, NO ONE to be feared!" In the "Army of God? CASUALTIES of War! Stony grounded believer's, with no "depth of root", having not the "stomach" for WAR!

Scripture could be enough, if it weren't for "Oppressors!" But, as it has been, and is still? WITHOUT Gods' Spirit, not striving with mans' spirit? The "scriptures", are as much a "sealed" book, with so many "unlearned men", in vainful pursuits of some educated "empirical" calling? In their "sticking in their "thumbs", pulling out a "plum", and, declaring: "What a GOOD BOY am I!"

That is why I found your post to be so "funny."

You would probably find something, like this!

1 Corinthians 10
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

BUT? There IS "some" creedence, to the saying: THAT, which DOESN'T KILL ya? Makes ya stronger!

Just the same....I wouldn't recommend tossing yer Bible to the curb! ;)

This has got to be one of the most ignorant statements I have ever seen...........about as anti-biblical and anti-Christian as one can get......

I can tell you that God's Spirit would not lead a saved child of God to say something as foolish as the following.........

How shall they hear except one be sent <---the word of God is SPOKEN every time it is preached and or proclaimed from the streets to the pulpit.....

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

The word of God is SPOKEN by the above MEN who GOD calls, qualifies and USES to proclaim his written WORD^^^^^^^^

The OP is ridiculous and goes to seed on one word while disregarding the fact that the word of God in the bible, preached from the pulpits and or proclaimed in witnessing is SPOKEN...........

PREACH the word in season and out of season <---SPOKEN by TIMOTHY as a YOUNG PASTOR in Ephesus

One might as well try explaining "beige" to one born blind as try explaining "hearing the voice of the Lord" to those who believe He only speaks through the Bible. At least the blind might be willing to listen instead of arguing.

To those who don't believe that He speaks outside of Scripture: just because you haven't been to Greenland doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Scripture records many instances of God speaking directly to individuals outside of then-existing Scripture. If all Scripture is for our instruction, then is it possible that those records are there to instruct us that... God speaks outside of Scripture?

might be time to review the op

does God speak to you? sounds great, right?

but then we come up with

how do you listen to God by putting aside your Bible?

might have been a bit of fluff to get to that statement, but there it is

personally, I can't get past that and God has and does speak to me..a few times audibly and I don't care what you think about that

He never told me to ditch my Bible though. quite the opposite in fact

so, what is the op about then? hearing from God or following a voice apart from scripture?

:unsure::unsure::unsure:

...
Agreed; it's poorly phrased and therefore dangerous. Perhaps he should try to clarify his intent.

hmmm

just think what would happen if believers actually did do that

thing is, far too many believers do not actually know their Bibles now

the ones who do? will NEVER put aside their Bibles. that voice, is from the devil

does that sound harsh? false prophets would tell people to put aside their Bibles

sounds like something the NAR followers would say

no discernment and open to every spirit in the air whispering to them

no

Christians should get into their Bibles and understand what Jesus said about deception and learn that the Bible defines our faith and the apostasy would say we do not need our Bibles

have I heard from God? you betcha...and a few times out loud. I will never put down my Bible

You missed the whole point of my post evidenced by your stubborn hold on traditional doctrines. Did the first disciples have Bibles? NO! Yet they turned the world upside down. Today everyone has a Bible and what good is that doing?

Are you now suggesting that we ignore the truth taught in the Bible for some new revelation that God SPOKE to you.
God speaks to me every day through His holy Word. I have never heard His voice and neither have you.
If you are hearing voices you might want to seek some professional help.

It appears that you missed an important point: the early disciples had the Old Testament.

Yes, many people have Bibles... and the one's reading and studying the Bible are learning and growing and it does them a great deal of good.

The Bible is the Word of God and the standard. We are instructed to test the Spirits...How would you suggest doing that without the clear Word of God the Bible.

You throw it away then there is no standard and people will be doing whatever and maybe listening to the other voice not even knowing it...because they have no standard to hold it up against.

When tempted by the Devil even Jesus answered back with the scriptures...He said It is Written...

And the N.T. disciples had the letters that began to be written and circulated, the apostles had imparted knowledge, and in Paul's case was taught by direct revelation.....

Actually, we don't "test the spirits" using the Bible directly; we test them by demanding whether they acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. However, we would not know to do that without the Bible. :)

Ok....and that's how we learn to do that is by studying and searching the scripture. What I'm saying is, the Bible is the standard and the only way we know what to do is by studying and searching the scriptures. The Devil himself can appear as an angel of light, and when he is trying to trick you he doesn't come up to you and say he's the Devil and start denying Christ with words. Although he will deny him in deeds. I've worked with many schizophrenics....Heard many say that Jesus Christ the Son of God had told them to sacrifice dogs under a bridge and stuff like that, and we know that was a wrong spirit. They didn't deny him with words but they denied him through their deeds.

So the Bible is the Standard....

The Bereans knew this and used the scriptures as a standard to ascertain if what Paul and Silas were saying was the truth.
Acts 17
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

yup

I got you the first time

you've caught that flu going around where those who refuse to be taught and will not come under biblical authority...set by NT teachings, is poo poohed and it suddenly becomes ok to judge people or throw ad hominem attacks at them

very mature

wondering where your next out of the box voice of instructions will take you
