I have a feeling that most ladies will let their boyfriend know what kind of proposal they want. Or ask her bff. Lol.

Asking for marriage is a lot more serious than saying I love you. Mind you I've never done it that way and I'd never do it in a ball park on a jumbotron, I'm just not that romantic.
Heck ..if u can say i love u..break up with someone via text..why not ..will u marry me..as well..that way..if rejected you can still save face..lol

I may be showing my age but at the end of the movie the Graduate Dustin Hoffman comes to the wedding to someone else of his love intrest, takes her away still in her wedding gown and off they drive into the sunset in his sports car. (white horses were out of fashion by then) I knew women that thought in was the most romantic scene in a movie they ever saw.

I also think people (both men and women) get all involved in how movies do proposals. All the glamour. The bling. Etc etc.

We as humans want to show off. Be the center of attention.

Love in English is a very ambiguous word. We say it to our moms, cousins, friends. People at church. Heck even our pets. There's nothing ambiguous about will you marry me.

Nah a text message is not nearly public enough. If you were going electronic you would need to do it on a forum at least, or on a Facebook page that is very public, or maybe an elaborate YouTube video...
