Well hy all! I was going to start off with something from Godspell this am but when I arose I thought I'd put up something for deaed. I too used to watch the Johnny Cash show and gospel music was a huge part of it.
Will the Circle be unbroken w/ Johnny Cash, Ricky Skaggs, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and a few others. I wish I had audio but I know the song and I can read lipps good enough to keep up, so this ones for deade->

Good morning peeps. Top O the morn to ya. Happy Thursday and all that. Well Gracie, I saw fit to start another thread that outsiders might see that as a home from its very title. If/when HUFL does come back we won't call that a problem, would you? BTW, I still keep up with "A Conversation...

Many of those names are familiar to me, though I cannot say the same in regards to all of their music, because unless it played on the pop radio stations, I was not really exposed to it. Had it not been for my three older sisters, I may not even have been exposed to pop music, either, since my parents tended to listen fairly exclusively to CBC radio, which did play music among their mostly talk format, but not the teeny bopper bubblegum fare stations like CHUM (out of Toronto) played, which was a staple in our house. My mother liked listening to Burl Ives and Catherine McKinnon; I do not really recall her having any other LPs. :):unsure::)

Oh, I do not remember finding his show boring. We probably still had a black and white telly in those days :giggle: Hey, remember Tiny Talent Time? Haha we sure have come a long way, from tiny talent to American Idol and all the spin-offs. I must say I do enjoy such shows. The America and Britain's Got Talent shows I enjoy mainly for the aspiring singers, as well, though I never cared for The Voice format, which is kinda funny, cuz it is my daughter's fave :D

I had my own TV, all we had till 'bout '67 was black and white and only L.A. stations. Only 3 were national. But as a little boy I had a crush on Annie from the Mickey Mouse Club. lol:LOL::LOL: Gidget and Mary Ann too.

Tiny talent? No, Art Linkletter, "Kids say the darndest things" yes. Lawrence Welk we all watched together though.

Wasn't Elvis also on the Ed Sullivan Show? Sinatra, hmmm, the lounge singing style has never really much appealed to me. Of course the song's message is important, just reflecting on other things you have said, because to me the music was a decided plus in any offering, to the point where as an adult, I listened to lots of artists for the delicious sounds they produced with their voice AND instruments, while not understanding a word of their foreign language (unless it was translated for me :)). Then of course there are the instrumental artists, and classical music etc. Music itself had the power to transport me aside from any message being articulated through lyrics:)

Haha, that is like my twin brother, who had has own little set in his bedroom, such a novel idea LOL, though none of us followed suit. He bought it for himself from money he made working with my dad. I also worked with my dad and brother every Saturday from the age of eight until I was 18 when I moved away from home, but buying my own TV never occurred to me :giggle: Oh, Gidget was a darling LOL. We grew up with Andy of Mayberry (Opie is very close to my age!) and Gomer Pyle LOL and Gilligan's Island, too, some of those shows just seem so goofy now :eek:
