Hi, I am happy to join in on your spiritual discussion's. I'm a pretty well rounded guy & love to talk about anything. A little history, I lived a Christian lifestyle for about 20 year's but became traumatised by the church I was involved in. I left that church & didn't like the idea of going back to another.

I fell away from reading the Bible & worshipping Jesus, it bothered me that I was slipping away, but the more I fought to keep the faith the harder it became to stay. I won't say that spiritual thing's are completely gone out of my life (Or life itself) But I am happy now, more than I've ever been.

Thing's make so much more sense now than before, I could jump into the sky and never come back down....

Wahoo!

Quite a few members have had bad experiences in certain churches and have forsaken the assembling together with like-minded believers. I do hope that you start reading the bible again being guided by the Holy Spirit and to apply what you have learned in your spiritual walk with the Lord.. Perhaps you are referring to the rapture in your jump into the sky comment. :) Glad to have you as a member of our community. Welcome to CC.

No, I don't think it's related or tied to some portion of my old religious day's. Since I didn't agree with rapture doctrine I don't see how it would be. Thanks for the post though, see you around.

If anyone relies solely on a church for their spiritual enlightenment they will be disappointed. You can't shift that responsibility onto anything but yourself. Maybe I am dull but have no idea what a "Christian Lifestyle" actually entails. Is this following Christian Rules?

It's a long race not a sprint. When you find yourself just holding on; then just hold on. It ain't over yet.

Sounds like you where in a Works salvation religion. Of lots of do this and don't do that ..

When Christianity is focused on Believing Jesus and Trusting in the Atonement He secured for our salvation..

Trusting, as you have to keep on believing your saved? That's not funny (I'm saying to myself)

Why?

If our confidence in our salvation is based on the ability of Jesus to save us and the effectiveness of what He did to pay the penalty for our faults then it is easy to keep trusting..

But if we believed our salvation was dependent on our worthiness to be saved then yeah i can understand how such a belief would crash and burn very quickly.. As it should.. Because such a belief was built upon quicksand a false foundation and not on the Rock...

You know, I never thought for a minute of my 20 year's of faith that I could be worthy in and of myself. No, the opposite was true, even for the fact of how genuine my faith was ended up being an object of scrutiny. I just didn't believe that I truly believed I could have a faith in and of myself. Even my faith was dependant on Jesus to give me more faith to continue believing. Well if belief in Jesus originates from ourselves then we are using our own flesh to believe.

How hard is it to believe? It is easy.. I don't need to struggle to believe water is wet.. It is no burden at all.. Same goes for believing that Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God who was sacrificed for our sins to Redeem those who believe and trust in what He did for them..

So belief is probably the easiest burden to shoulder when all one has to do is believe in the righteousness of Jesus.. It is easy to trust in perfection..

Did you make that yourself, it is very creative. Have you thought of going into multimedia design.
Hello DarthStav, yes, I designed that, using elements I sourced from the web, so it is a kind of digital collage that I put together as my welcome message to newcomers. I have made quite a few others as well, other welcome messages, and many templates I have added prayers or Scriptures to, plus things like birthday messages for members here. Thank you for your encouragement, though I am quite content in my current professional occupation :)

It's unfortunate that you have come to that conclusion. I feel the same for the secular worldview. :)
Yes, there's much turning brain off everywhere. Anyone who tries to convince you of something they think you need is also requiring you to turn your brain off. I mean how else do people buy into crappy deals of the world.
