Amen.....below is how a word is defined....
Bible-->Hope<--a confident expectation of something guaranteed <-eternal life by grace dia faith
Cainologists->Hope<--i just bought a lottery ticket in Jesus and hope I make it if I do enough good things
An example would be . . . "that blessed hope" - our hope is not in whether God will keep His Word, but whether we would live to see it. We are looking for something that the church has been patiently anticipating for centuries - yet we know that there will be a glorious appearing of our great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Another:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time" (I Peter 1:3-5).
In this case it is our living hope that we will one day stand incorruptible in the presence of our Saviour . . . which is already sitting in reservation for us, where we are seated in heavenly places. It is not an uncertain hope that we MIGHT make it . . . it is an assurance that it is already complete.
In this case, hope is analogous to trust.
Salvation, though, is not a 'hope so' religion, it is a 'know so' confidence.
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God" (I John 5:13).
The false teachers on the site would rob us of this hope.
