For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints, the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. ( 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 )
If you read the preceding verses of 1Cor. 14 starting from verse 26, the context is prophecy, but it also includes the general theme of the gift of tongues and the order in which the gift is to be shared in the church. The universal principle is that men ought to lead both at home and in churches. A parallel verse is found In 1 Timothy 2: 12, Paul writes: "I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” Hence, pastors and church elders are all men. And rather than lead, women are to submit to men as made clear by God’s Word. Women are not to lead, preach, teach or lead worship singing in churches. Women can lead if it’s an all-women's group, but when men are part of the gathering, men ought to lead and women ought to submit to that authority because the order in the church is "Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.” (1 Cor. 11: 1-3) It is unfortunate that many churches in this generation allow women to be pastors, preachers and lead in the church. For churches to allow women to lead is improper and disgraceful.
