Over the years I have heard things that have stuck with me and shaped my life. Most of them negative.

Once I asked a man that I am convinced was flirting with me, why he didn't just tell me. His answer still ressonates in me. He said: "I am not a pervert!"

I was thinking for years that I might be so odd, falling for me would be a perversion. Now I know differently. God has restored me!

Another was my grandma, that said that my sister is the pretty one of the two of us. It gave me a sense of being inferior for decades.

I have many examples of this in my life, and I wonder if you guys have experienced the same. Perhaps these words that might have been said in the passing or as a joke has trapped your mindset and even influenced your choices in life.

The good news is, though, that we have the authority to break these curses in the name of Jesus.

I would appreciate if you could share your stories, and that we could pray for eachother.

Ohhh... I remember when i was like 9 or 10 My father was drinking with his friends inside our house..then they were talking about something when i came in. I heard my father telling about his kids about how we will going to grow up and going to have a family of our own.

He said oh maybe i wont going to see them anymore having kids etc he said it doesn't matter I can't see them anymore so whatever the life they may choose it is up to them and he looked at me and said especially this kid "kay maraot" meaning i am ugly 😔 ( i had uneven protruding teeth before) I am worried someday if she is married already that her husband will going to use her as a punching bag 😔 I hold no grudges against my father but his words hurt me so much and i kept it in my heart...i believed my father's words for so many years...yeah...I've experienced a shattered self-esteem before yayy...

I still feel the same sometimes 😂 when this flesh trying to put me down but God is so wonderful He always reminds me that I am God's handiwork and I am beautiful 😎 He created me just the way HE wanted ❤

"Words, words, words!"

With anybody's words, their impact is determined by the source. If it is somebody I respect, I take the words to heart. If not, I don't care what they say. And the people I respect, the people who matter in my life, would not speak those words.

You have been fortunate in this aspect.. Others have had people they respect like dads and mothers tell them that they where useless and unworthy of anything.. There are a lot of people who have been cursed by such statements.. It is something that has to be personally experienced to understand how devastating it is upon those who have experienced it..

Oh I know plenty of people who talk like that. I just ignore them. If I have any empathy to spare I might pity them, bless their cranky little hearts.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen

When your a 5 or 6 year old kid and your dad tells you in an outburst of anger that your a useless dopy cow and kicks you in the backside so hard that the impact lifts you off the ground, just ignoring it is not an option..

As i said you have to experience things like this to understand why some people are branded like a red hot iron in the depths of their very being and they carry that experience for life..

When I was in 7th grade, a guy said he would rather burn in hell than to call me. He didn’t say it to my face. A classmate said he said it. Maybe the classmate misheard. I wasn’t even giving the guy my phone number. But... it didn’t matter. Up to that point, I wondered why no guy liked me when in elementary, any boy who sat next to me in class ended up liking me without me even trying.

That day, my brain concluded: I must be ugly. That’s why he said he would rather burn in hell. That’s why no guy likes me.

And low self esteem made a home in my heart. Thank God He has helped me, but there are days the enemy attacks. But! We have Holy Spirit! Yas!

I'm 47 and I still struggle at times with the imprints that were made on my heart as a young girl from things my father said (and didn't say).
I KNOW what Jesus says about who I am in Him, but at times it's hard to believe it.
Those evil voices taunt me sometimes.
Praise God I am being delivered from the hurt that lingers and I walk victoriously the majority of the time.
God is good. And He's good at being God. He's never forsaken me and continues to make beauty from ashes!

The tongue is a double edged sword..God spoke creation into existance..theres power words..thing is..once spoken..we can never take rhem back..

When I was a child, I was bullied by other kids at school and I was told I was ugly, criticized and made fun of for my looks.

I couldn't handle interacting with others. I always ended up being hurt, so I became withdrawn. All I could do to protect myself was to avoid interaction.

Now as an adult. Im 37 years old. I'm very uncomfortable around people and crowds.

But I meditate on the word of God, and I get power to do the things I have to do. Like going to church and work and just simply being out in public. Though it's hard and stressful.

I don't know if one day I'll be full of confidence or whatever, but I've decided to just be the best person I can be, by the grace of God.

Did you guys know that Jesus was not attractive according to the world's beauty standards? Isaiah 53:2-3

And did you know that God does not pay attention to man's outward appearance? 1Samuel 16:7, 1Peter 3:4

God did not say anyone was ugly. That is a label created by humans and a standard that is forced on others to live up to.

This beauty standard is very stressful!! I have a question: why do we, as children of God place so much importance on things that our Father does not care anything about?

The unkind words that were spoken that hurt us, I feel that we should try not to dwell on it, because to God it's neither here nor there. My sheep here my voice, a voice of another they will not listen. Mean, ugly, unkind words are from satan, and my brothers and sisters we must eject them from our spirits. That is the journey I'm on, Philippians 4:8 A journey to see things the way God sees things, and not according to how the world sees things, Romans 12:2.
