I have a brother-in-law who was clearly a believer, but now is clearly an agnostic and an unbeliever! To try to say that he was not a believer to start with - well - I walked with him and knew him and I know he believed and changed and was born again!

It's probably more well known by it's other name - Freegrace. It teaches that you can even stop believing all together and you are still saved.

Name the church that teaches this, Ralph.

Rather than make a blanket statement concerning the church which teaches the grace of God as God intended and lumping those churches in with whatever church teaches what you claim is being taught, why don't you say something like the Church of _____ in (state), (country) teaches ________ (fill that in with whatever teaching you disagree with).

I attend a church which teaches the grace of God and I have never heard the pastor teach what you claim.

It's probably more well known by it's other name - Freegrace. It teaches that you can even stop believing all together and you are still saved. I don't know exactly when it reared it's ugly head in the church but it's become very popular in the last few years. You can see right away how vastly different and contradictory this new 'once saved always saved' view is compared to the traditional Calvinistic 'once saved always saved' view which says the person who stops believing was never really saved to begin with. I see more and more people going with the new version of 'once saved always saved'. It effectively relieves the believer of all responsibility to live for Christ in a continuing faith.

That is not the teachings of free grace. Stop misrepresenting everybody and everything to make your faulty point.

When I've pressed them to then explain what they had previously considered about how a person is saved, they answer not with faith/trust in Christ and His finished work alone but some thing they did (like baptism, church membership/attendance, attending regular Bible studies, doing good, and that sort of thing...)

The OSAS argument just does not make any sense to me nor can I find it in the Bible in any sense at all!

First, it's not an argument, it's a clear teaching.

THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRISTIANS (NEW CREATION/MAN) IS THROUGH FAITH.


Romans 9:30-32 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, A RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT IS BY FAITH; but ISRAEL, who pursued a law of righteousness, has not attained it. Why not? Because they pursued it NOT BY FAITH but as if it were by works. THEY stumbled over the “stumbling stone.”


IF YOU ARE A JEW WHOSE RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THROUGH THE LAW ….IT IS "NOT BY WORKS".(ephesians 2:8-deuteronomy 6:24-25)

WHETHER YOU'RE A GENTILE OR A JEW, IF YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THROUGH FAITH , YOU ARE;

..God's workmanship created in
Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS which He has PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO . ( ephesians 2:10)



“NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAD DONE" REFERS TO THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE JEWS WHICH WAS THROUGH THE LAW. (titus 3:5, eph 2:8-9)


PAUL’S QUESTION IS:


Romans 3:31 Do we, then, NULLIFY the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.


HE ALSO SAID,


Romans 3:3-4 What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith NULLIFY God’s faithfulness? Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: “So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge.”


GOD PUTS AND WRITES THE LAW IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS.


Hebrews 8:10 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.


Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”


...NOT JUST TO THE JEWS WHO WERE CIRCUMCISED IN THE FLESH BUT ALSO TO THOSE WHO WERE CIRCUMCISED IN THE HEART.


Romans 2:28-29 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a man’s praise is not from men, but from God.


AND CHRISTIANS ARE ABLE TO FULFILL AND UPHOLD THE LAW IN THEIR HEARTS AND MINDS BECAUSE OF THE LOVE THAT WAS POURED INTO THEIR HEARTS.


Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because GOD HAS POURED OUT HIS LOVE INTO OUR HEARTS by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.


AND THEREFORE, “LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW.”(romans 13:10)


1 John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.


1 John 5:2-3 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,


2 John 1:6 AND THIS IS LOVE; THAT WE WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you WALK IN LOVE.

1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but WITH ACTIONS AND IN TRUTH.


Romans 8:4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be FULLY MET IN US, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.


John 14:15 “IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU WILL OBEY WHAT I COMMAND.”


Luke 6:46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?


26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD also.

The Lords 2nd coming o 'save all" is after his reserrection..first he came as baby..2nd he appeared after his reserrection...and please dont type me a book each time..i wont read it...

Again..the difference..works in 1 is obligation..works in 2 that im talking about it out of love AFTER salvation but not to maintain..its not..whoops i didnt do enough works today..wonder if ill lose my salvation..like 10 hail marys will grant you a "pass" for the day...nope

Amen! Good works are the fruit of salvation through faith, but not the root of it. From beginning “have been saved through faith” (Ephesians 2:8,9) to end “receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works.
