No, I don't like needy feminine men either...understanding and strong, yes, but needy is such a turn-off!!
Not necissarily needy but like you best friend...sensitive..supportive..understanding..in tune with thier emotions..etc..lol

True, neither sex knows how to listen or we go on defense. Instead of seeing: for example. ( "insert name", I FEEL this relationship is more one-sided) instead of seeing the "feel" knowing feelings are not always factual, the other party goes on defense, thinking it is acussing or blaming. ( with some mates they are ) but not always.
If I sit down to talk to someone about a problem, I'm going to # 1 expect they listen to what I say, #2 let me finish without interruptions. Then repeat back what they heard or understood it to be. Then address their side. However honestly, depending on how long I let something go before addressing it. That determines how open I am to receiving the other persons feelings.

It is a two way street of open and honest communication, and listening.
It sounds to me you have some didalectic experience or training. Very good. Something that has bothered me here is when I write some or many, people become defensive like I said most or all. I didn't know somany peoples egos were so fragile.

The actual word a "feminine man" was "gay" when i first heard it..
I wasn't raised using politicaly correct words like feminie man or gay. I was about 19 when I heard it in the modern context. We used 'dirty words' and didn't know it was wrong

I know a typical generalization about men and women is we either do not communicate (mainly men) or we over communicate our needs, wants, and desires (mainly women). I do my best to communicate what I need and shut my mouth and listen to what my man needs. Women are also known for bringing "drama" into the relationship. I mean if it doesn't affect the two people in the relationship directly dont bring it up.

Let me tell you, my relationship has changed dramatically since I started practicing these things and I have been told he appreciates me for it. I even got rid of FB because it was something I didn't need.

Cause men have better things to do.... like killing sabertooth tigers and stopping the enemy from over running the women, while they're being all sensitive.
Women can do that too.

I think, therefore I am. Cogito ergo sum.

I appreciate that the OP and this thread actually states women think. Because I think men often think of us as creatures acting on impulse and emotions.

Whether I am a good representative of the female kind, I am not sure. Because this easily comes down to stereotype thinking.

So I think (I am overdoing the thinking part):
  • American men and Norwegian men are different.
  • Men, and especially Christian men, are afraid of too independent women.
  • Men don't like that women come up with solutions.
  • Men show love through actions more than through words.
Otherwise I could make a long list of negatives about my ex, but I will restrain myself.

I think, by the grace of God, that we can change, and if we are humble enough and let Jesus be our Lord, He can make a match out of whomever He chooses.

You're right. Gender roles are changing faster than 1/3 the population can keep up with. @ generations ago [at my current age] Women couldn't vote now they may be the supervisor or even the boss. Men raised on19th or early 20th century moral codes and ethics are out of touch. It may be too much to ask society to come about so quickly. My mom never drove, 'it was unlady like' I think that 100 years worth of changes will take longer than 150 years to catch on.

I'm also going to hit off of something you brought up. Being it was discussed of me in a prior thread. Branching off a bit, same direction :)

Ok gents: its your time to speak up.
Independent women. Yay or Nay and please elaborate.

I have heard from a few, independent women scare or intimidate men. Also it is a turn off. Being, (out of a few mens mouth, not mine) that they prefer a "Damsel in Distress". weak, fraley, Barbie princesses.

What about, if so, does an independent women deter you?

Don't fret fella's, I'm how the good Lord made me. What you speak here is a welcomed opinion and preferance. Open and honest dialog. Be polite and honest. If I don't like it tough, ill laugh it off or "huff off" like I did with Lynx. 😁. ( teasing ya my friend)

Just opening the windows. 😎 letting the light in.

The real gorilla in the room and the logs in our eyes are mens egos' and idiotic pride. Partially reinforced by traditions and cultures plus bad education. I've heard it said winners write the books, that dosn't make them correct:cool::alien:

I get that traditionally and biblically a man is the head. Just because I can do something don't mean I wanna do it. Heck if I had a man id be more than happy to hand the tools and let him get greasy. Now if he was wood working he's gotta move over and let me help. ( compromise ) 😉.

Ok look I hear alot of guys quote proverbs 31. ( not looking at the meaning) just reading the words. That was a very independent woman. I haven't read it in awhile, but if I recall, she weaved, sewed, cooked, took care of the poor, bought and sold land and crops. Correct me if I'm wrong. I am sure I'm missing stuff.

Ok answer me this. (Ego) we had a vehicles in tank fuel pump go out at the gas station after just filling the 30gal tank. 4 men for two days tried to figure out how to remove the gas ( 30 gals) or drop the tank full. Finally after almost tripping on my sons skateboard I came up with a solution. ( 2 jacks and is large skateboard ) it worked only gas spilt was when removing pump. The guys seemed bothered. Should I have kept my mouth shut for their ego, or offer a solution and finally get my vehicle operational again. ?

I wasnt defending mans ego, I'm blaming it. In the book of judges women picked the mantle and did traditional mens jobs I stand against conservatism for it's own sake. Folks that say a woman should be meek quiet and timid must have missed the part where jesus said to mary magdeline 'Go tell the apostles!'

No worries, I read and understood what you said. Just throwed in the woman's side of dealing with egos.

A problem I have found with some men is that often they are too self-sacrificing - and what I mean is that all too often its like ok, we can do whatever you want to do, when really I want to do what he wants as well. It was like well, sheesh, you are losing your identity because you think it will make me happy to do whatever I want, when that isn't the case?? LOL i don't ask for that and it makes me lose respect for them, big time!
Lol..sounds like theyre complasent..i get the ones that are always selfish...
