You know Kodiak was talking the floating axehead. I was remembering something the Lord pointed out to me about this. We can classify that as a miracle carried out by God's servant that wasn't necessary. Helpful, yes, but not necessary. Just like when Jesus turned the water into wine at a marriage. Since the axehead was borrowed the sons of the prophets were liable for it. Why not perform a little miracle in the name of expediency. Can we conclude that it is okay with God to do such? Thoughts?

I think that is an excellent question, Deade, and one worthy of seeking an answer about.
Perhaps more concisely, when is it OK to ask God to help with a want that is not a need?
I suggest it is appropriate to take every concern and desire before Him. He may answer, "Don't worry about it", or "Not yet", or "OK", or may change your concern entirely. But still we should bring our interests before him.
