Hello. My name is John and I am new here.

I came here tonight because I have found myself battling fear or anxiety or panic or something in between those three. I found this site through a Google search because I know that my path to help is through finding people with a more developed relationship with God than myself and learning to model myself after them.

I also have always had a tremendous degree of social anxiety and I haven't been able to get myself to make relationships with people when I go to church. I know that's hard for most people to understand but I often have a debilitating fear that prevents me from establishing relationships.

I am currently undergoing a lot of new beginnings in my life, both professionally and personally. I think this is a good time to begin a new chapter in my relationship with God and I am hoping that being here will help me with that.

Hello John, know I'm praying for you, and I would courage you to keep your eyes and heart on Jesus, and stay in his word. In there you will learn about His precious love for you and His plans & purposes for your life. Remember, fear is not of God, but of the enemy who will try to discourage you ,and keep you and your heart away from God. He's (Satan) is running scared, bcuz he knows his time is short. So don't let him and his lies distract you from God. Praying for you! 💘 Jesus really does Love you more than you will ever understand, and is ALWAYS with you, never leaving, just call upon him whenever you need.

Have you ask your doctor for medication to help you cope?

Do NOT jump straight into medication. There are other, healthier ways that should be tried first. The only time medication should be a first is if the anxiety is disabling.
Getting into counseling to learn better coping skills and looking for the root causes should be a first step. Sometimes meds can be temporarily used during this time help minimize the symptoms. But part of learning to combat anxiety is learning to recognize it and using that as a weapon.
If you're medicated out of it you'll never improve.

Usually a good first step is getting evaluated physically. Next is counseling to be evaluated mentally. To see if there is a primary condition that anxiety is a symptom of.
Exercise helps a lot as well. It releases endorphins which improve mood.
Trying natural supplements can be helpful. I take Gaba. KavaKava is also good. These are usually at health food stores or online.

Just be aware sometimes counseling creates anxiety also. Confronting things you hide from is stressful, but helpful in the long run.

It depends on how long you have dealt with the problem. If there is no cause, then you probably need medicine. I know. People who don't know what it feels like to deal with that type of problem think that you can be talked out of it. And when that's you think about, it takes away from everything else. If you pray and pray, and God doesn't take it away, then you need medicine. Depending on where you are in your Walk with God, he may be refining you.

Hi John, welcome to CC! I'm glad you found us :)

God bless you! Praying for you!

~Deut
p.s. - have you seen your pastor about the issues that you're facing? If not, pastors are excellent at helping us find the best way to deal life's various problems whenever they arise, and he'll be able to begin to pray for you as well. After all, the Lord has tasked our pastors with regularly seeing to our well-being on this side of Glory .. cf Hebrews 13:17. Whenever I have big issues to deal with, my pastor is the first person I call!

..........Numbers 6
..........24 The LORD bless you and keep you;
..........25 The LORD make His face shine upon you,
..........And be gracious to you;
..........26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
..........And give you peace.

I did say don't jump straight into medication. I did not say to never use it.
I have had anxiety for 15 years.

I do not. The only medication I've had for it was when it first started happening and I made repeated ER visits and they gave it to me there.
There is medication that you can take that is not addictive, but if you are doing ok without it that's very good.

I'm well aware of medication options. There are times i wish i had some, but in the long run i'm happier without it. Medication alone (or too soon) halts progress. Even with non-addictive medications people can still learn to be overly reliant on medication.
