You are generally correct except, you leave out the one where we must comply with G-d's commandments.
Are you saying that salvation is based on the merits of our best efforts to obey all of God’s commandments? Do you realize that is salvation by works? Does God grade on a curve? See Romans 3:22-28; 4:5-6: 6:23.
No, it is NOT FOR SALVATION. YES, It is a demonstration of our LOVE for Him, which comes AFTER the FREE GIFT of SALVATION.

See it? It comes after the Free Gift of Salvation. IT IS HOW We ARE TO LOVE and OUR HEARTS ARE WILLING TO LOVE THE LORD OUR GOD.

People who will turn away from the faith are the ones who had their faith in a God of their own understanding. It was unsavaing faith in false doctrine and full of dead works because they did not believe the truth which would of been revealed to them by the spirit of truth. Get away from me he who WORK iniquity (worshipping and believing false doctrine and not the truth. An idol created for their own understanding and reasons.) What shall we do to work the works of God "believe on the ONE he sent (the truth is the light to show the way)
Christ did not come down to pull out the blackboard and go over the commandments of God with a people already proven the inability to do so, and then say "So I'm gonna go through this really gruesome and painful death to get your attention so you will remember what I have reminded you of. Nope, Christ was sent as a sacrificial lamb to CONQUER what we were and will always be able to always be unable to conquer. I'm tellin ya, if I ever veer from the truth and believe that my salvation is up to my filthy, sin ridden, disobedient self, then I'm gonna find another God that is able to handle things I can't or even really even understand. Alright y'all who can lose your salvation through obedience or lack of good works, what are we gonna name Him?

Mathew 22:37-40(KJV)
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Of course he is saying that and he also believes one can lose salvation by not obeying which seals his fate because NO one KEEPS the LAW and all are lawbreakers......
