I had schizophrenia, panic attacks and an anxiety disorder and God totally healed me!
When I [Peter] was about 24 I was living on my own and I had a really bad mental breakdown
which put me back in Glenside Psychiatric Hospital.
It is hard to explain how I felt then, but after the breakdown, it really crippled me.
My diagnosis was Schizophrenia, panic attacks and an anxiety disorder.
I could barely talk, I couldn’t express emotions and I couldn’t dress or shave myself;
I felt absolutely shocking.
After about a month in Glenside Psychiatric Hospital,
I went home to live with my parents, but after about six months I wasn’t getting any better.
I was going down physically as well.
I was in Glenside most of the time and only came home some weekends.
Then long time friends talked to Mum and Dad, telling them I could be healed.
I had just sat slumped in my chair at the kitchen table; no one thought I was listening, so they were stunned when
I suddenly said, “if I can be healed it will be by Jesus Christ”.
I went to my first Pentecostal Revival meeting in 1982 with my Mum and Dad.
At the second meeting we went to, I decided to get baptised (by full immersion).
I knew I had to get baptised to receive the Holy Spirit so I thought “what have I got to lose?”
I got baptised under the water and when I walked back to the change room I realised that I felt completely normal;
the sickness had just left me.
I could talk again.
My Dad saw me across the Vogue Theatre auditorium as I left the change room and saw me smile at him, something he
had not seen me do in years.
He asked me how I felt and I told him that I had been healed.
Then I received the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, at a House Meeting six weeks later.
It has been a real blessing ever since.
I have been employed all these years and Mum and I look after each other now.
I would just like to praise the Lord.
