Yeah, except for vision (inanimate objects, holograms) don't have conversations with the Lord. So use your head regarding this information.
In this one they did.

Believe as you will.
Same to you, ATW. Both of us believe we are adhering to what the scriptures teach. One of us is wrong.

It is time for me to discontinue this, because I have spent too much time in contending for the truth on this issue.
Are you really done this time? We'll see... :)

I'll say this, the spirit of deception has crept into every Biblical truth in these last days. It is unfortunate that Satan has found a foot-hold on those in Christ to deliver his distorted messages on these issues.
I believe one of the biggest lies Satan has convinced the church to believe is that death is not really death.

"Ye shall not surely die".

And the majority of the Christian church believes that lie to this day.

Sleep in the context you are presenting is from an orthodox perspective a representation of physical death. The body sleeps but the soul/spirit is conscience in the presence of God.

In Genesis the blood of Abel is crying unto God for justice. It is a figurative allusion for God to avenge Abel.

For the cause of Christ

Shrume, as I have previously posted, the reference to "sleeping in the grave" is referring to the body, not the spirit. Understand that the human being is made up of body soul and spirit? When scripture refers to sleep, it is speaking about the body, not the spirit.
That is your opinion is it not? Scriptures teach that the body returns to dust, and the spirit returns from which it came. You teach the body sleeps to be awakened again, which is CONTRARY to sound doctrine which plainly teaches the body returns to dust. Know you not that flesh and blood (THE BODY) will never into into Heaven, flesh that is made from the Earth will return to the Earth. It is the spirit that is in flesh, that is ALIVE and is also what sleeps.

Tell me which is alive and which is dead?
The Spirit or the body without the spirit?
But you teach that a body without a spirit is ALIVE and sleeping do you not? Does a dead, lifeless body sleep? You say it does, Ridiculous teaching right there.

You teach that a person dies, their spirit goes to Heaven, and their body in the ground sleeps. Really? So the body is alive but just sleeping? Are you hearing what you are teaching? A body without a spirit is DEAD, NOT sleeping, NOT alive, but DEAD and decaying, and returning to dust. ONLY that which is alive can sleep. Our bodies that we have in the flesh are but husks that contain the spirit, like clothes that we put on. When the spirit leaves the husk, the husk is DEAD, NOT sleeping. You do error teaching this stuff, but i understand why you must teach this, because if you were to believe the TRUTH that it is the spirit that sleeps, then you would have to change what you believe, won't you, and for you, that just can't happen, NO, you will change Scriptures to fit into what you believe is the truth. Therefore DEAD bodies sleep to you, because if they didn't then you would be WRONG wouldn't you? Can't have that.

Still waiting to hear from you concerning Zechariah 14 which PROVES what you teach to be in error.

I just got home from work having finished my work week. A nap sounds exceptional right about now. Probably eat first though.
I grilled hamburgers and pork chops after church :)

We're going to have meatloaf with mashed potatoes. For some reason there are those that take exception to meatloaf, especially in the Streams of Conscientiousness and Thoughts thread in the Singles Forum. It's all in good fun though. One member, Seoulsearch, detests meatloaf. She is not too fond of cucumbers either. She is also an outstanding writer, well respected and one of my favorite peeps. She can be very amusing and witty and occasionally sarcastic in a good funny way.

I will make sandwiches out of the leftovers, add some tomato and mayo. I will also add cucumber if I remember to buy one at the store tomorrow morning. My wife does a good job making meatloaf. Probably better than Mom's. Same with the pot roast. Exceptional. She made it for my family once and they are raved about it.

Yeah, all of this heavy theological stuff makes my eyes glaze over and dulls the senses.
i would suggest not reading any theological threads, is it is something that grieves your spirit. Why would you continue to read heavy theological stuff if it makes your eyes glaze over and dulls your senses? Makes no sense, stop doing that to your self.

I was being a bit sarcastic but there is probably an element of truth to what I posted. Mainly, I just get tired of the bickering, name calling and judgemental attitudes.
