Drop some Ashawangadha 800mg, Walmart about 7.88$ a bottle of 60.

I've been on it, it will improve your mood, combat depression.
Based on your recommendation I'm going to try a bottle. I don't see how it can hurt anything and it may help me, even if only in a small way.

I have a lot of faith in modern medicine. I believe the trained doctor knows what dosages I should take or not take. I have no such faith in my own knowledge of medicine and may take something that would do me an injury.
Somethings I do some I don't, armor thyriod has been out for amost 100 yrs, first thyriod med ever created I went to two docs they act like they didn't know want it was seriously, I had to get a referral to a specialist. not all docs and medical practices are done out of wanting to help people. the drug company play a role in that for sure. 70 million people have thyriod issues, mainly cause the FDA took iodine out of bread and placed bromine in it, worse thing ever, ahh but it's opened the door for multi billion dollar business yea iodine will probably never be placed back into bread.

I have struggled with depression. Some is a natural reaction to traumas and being bullied as a child but I also believe it is a spiritual dimension to it.

With that, I mean the devil knows my weakness in depression, and he can use that for his purpose. To be aware of that, is powerful and helps you pray and fight back in Christ.

I am not sure I will ever get totally healed from depression through therapy or medication. I think prayers have helped the most, therapy some and medication has helped me not to fall too deep when I start spiraling down.

I believe that God can set me free from depression. I believe that he can heal my eyesight and that he even can heal my muscular dystrophy. In one way he already has on the cross. Perhaps I will not experience it before the day of judgment or the rapture. Healing is a mystery. And so is mental illness. We should seek God first as well as the doctors. We are told to pray for those of our brethren that get ill and suffer.

With this I stop arguing and start praying.

Heavenly father. I pray for all of us that suffer from depression and anxiety. Let it be lifted from us and let us follow Christ with joy. I thank you that you are close to us and those that suffer, and thank you for listening and answering our prayers. You are the the living God and you have created us in your image. All of us unique and with a purpose. Let us seek your face and help us stay close to you and deliver us from depression. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Iodine is in salt, unless you buy uniodized salt.

I don't use a lot of salt, the only amount I get is from my food, there is three parts to iodine, salt is not a very good sourse for iodine, seafood being the best sourse, in Japan thyroid desease is rare because they consume more fish then in America.

I have faith in modern medicine as well if my heart valve gives out one day I'll surely seek a doctor to help me for God inspires people to be doctors to help others, but I've also seen the other side of that as well. Big pharma does and can have effect on want doctors do and prescribe, mental issues fall in a category that isn't quite being treated at the doctors office like it should, you will probably never hear a doctor speak about praying to God or hey try this herb God made it and it does wonders, no you'll only get a worldly view most of the time.

now just on the herb I mentioned I doubt it would effect any chemical the doctor has given you. You mentioned you struggle with depression so is what the doctor prescribing helping you. did it help in the beginning but over a period of time that isn't much the case anymore??,

that's were I was at the lab meds over time didn't work to well actually it was destroying my thyriod, fighting depression with Medication that effect serotonin or neurotransmitters can have a life long effect. Nothing wrong with going all natural and if you use the right stuff will help just as much as the medical remedy will. If your completely happy with your meds then stay on them if nit there are others ways to combat it, through prayer of coarse and through natural remedies for it wasn't man who made them man just discoveryed them God made them to do what they do to, too help.

The thing youre forgetting is everyone's body reacts differently to each medication. What may work for one may do nothing for another.
Also varying degrees of depression can determine the usefulness of a medication.
I knew a guy that was depressed so I told him some changes to make in his lifestyle. He listened and it worked and changed his entire life. Others may make those same changes and little may happen. Or they won't have the capacity to even attempt those changes.
When offering advice on mental illness of any kind it's never a good idea to state one angle and push it as the Only good option, such as how you're doing. Because what works best for you may not be best for everyone.

In the light of the suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain, I would like to state a few things about depression.

[Redacted]

Depression is medical.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this post.
You are welcome.

And this is true. satan has had more than enough time to sow infirmity into our very DNA. It permeates our flesh. This is a medical issue and should be dealt with accordingly.

But...

Consider God's word on the subject -

John 12:25
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

John 15:19
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

James 4:4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

1 Corinthians 4:11
Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; 12 And labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: 13 Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the off scouring of all things unto this day. 14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you."

2 Corinthians 12:10
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Luke 6:20

“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. 22 Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. 23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets. 24 “But woe to you who are rich, for you have already received your comfort. 25 Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will go hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. 26 Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.

Matthew 10:22

You will be hated by everyone because of Me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Philippians 1:21

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith

1 Thessalonians 3:7

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith. 8 For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord.

***

The physical manifestations of all infirmities have a spiritual base - the fall of man. The feeling people have that they don't belong in this world? It's because we don't belong to this world. The fact that we suffer in it says we must be doing something right. God says to persevere. Paul, wanting to 'move on', said he would instead persevere. Shall we do any less?

And shall we not fight these things with every weapon we have - medical and spiritual.

Depression
I think the best approach to this (or any sickness/disease) is first go to Jesus (He is Yahweh Rophi, Exodus 15v26, Isaiah 53v4, Matt 8v16,17) and then seek medical advice and treatment, then we get the best of both worlds!

Sometimes lethal. A "de" here and an "un" there can make quite a difference.
For want of a nail the shoe was lost. Attention to detail is of critical importance especially when attempting to interpret scripture. I always enjoy your refreshing perception and outlook. :)
