I must have missed this thread! I have been a professional musician, playing and singing in bars, concerts and doing a lot of recording. I play flute and sax, although sax is hard on my hands they are deforming so much. I have a very expensive solid silver flute, even it is getting hard to play. I have had to plug up all but 2 of the holes.
I used to play classical guitar, but I am better with wood winds. I taught band for a couple of years, I had to learn all the instruments. There is a lot in common with the fingering, although the embrasure can be very different.
I switched to teaching elementary music, learned recorder (I have 5 of them, from tiny sopranino to tenor!) and then ukulele! I have 3 or 4 of those. One son learned violin, but he outpaced me rapidly. I took piano lessons, but started too late. I can play anything on the flute, classical, jazz, folk, reading or improvising, I could never master that in the piano
I have continued to play flute and sing in church worship teams, 38 years now. My voice got damaged with an RA nodule, but I still get by, and can do harmonies.
I really love music, I hope I am allowed to continue to play flute and sing, after I die! Praise the Lord, he is good!
